Genshin Impact

WuWa's in maintenance, and they changed the starting song. It sounds great!

Edit: It's out. I'm not paying 40 bucks for Jihnsi... And I lost my 50/50 to lion boy, but got Carlotta's weapon with the reset pulls lmao.

Other stuff i learned from mavuika

-Spinning with mavuika is surprisingly dangerous on practice. It seems to stretch her hurtbox all around her and everyone in the room hits you. Since you can't dodge and are immune to stagger, you simply die without realizing you took hits. I straight up died multiple times on domain coop. I dont think you can yolo facetank abyss bosses unless you have a goated bennet.
-Her float gives a speed boost but burns fuel fast, so the best way to move in a straight line is spamming the float boost and canceling before the second bar appears. You can do like 6 boosts as seen by this reddit thread

Some traveler things i noticed

-Pyro traveler is... not great... But she's now "niche 4*" tier which is the best Traveler has ever been. Cinder and skill alone makes them a good burn support and the burst has surprisingly good scaling (that is half neutered by low base atk).
-Traveler skill has 2 mode and both are awkward to use. The tap requires you to stay near inside the enemy for the whole duration and the other requires you to hit the enemy exactly between 3 second intervals. This is because traveler skill lasts 10 seconds + 2 if you do a reaction/burst so it has to be exactly 12 seconds. This means one dash away from the enemy fucks up his application and particle generation.
-Traveler generates 4 particles assuming perfect 100% hit condition which sucks for a 18s skill and 70 burst. For comparison XL generates 4 on 11 s, diluc 4 in 10s, and mavuika 5 (!) on 12.
-For some reason, traveler can regain nightsoul on reaction and C2 but his skill is hard capped to last 12 seconds so the excess NS is wasted and not even converted to mavuika energy. I don't get this. It's not like it forces a specific comp type like other units anyway. Why not make it 12s by default and not have the regain?
-THERE IS NO C6 YET CAUSE NO SIXTH TRIBE! That's the only good con there and it might take 3+ months to be avaiable.
-I used my traveler on current theater and they did fine. Helped kill a cryo lawachu and break the thunder regisvine.

TL;DR: If you like traveler this is the closest they are to viable but akward skill makes it frustrating. Can still do a surprisingly strong melt with burst (why is the burst scaling actually good??) and is a good burn support and should be a good pyro enabler for kinich/mualani.

HSR stream for 3.0 was today. Be sure to grab the codes:

Well, my savings are gone because someone decided to hard pity. Carlotta will have to make use of the generic 5* weapon, because I can't afford to get her weapon. She plays fun, but I'm going to have to focus on exploration tomorrow so that I can fight her boss.

I find funny how genshin is now doing floor 12 blessings so absurdly specific that the banner characters become painfully easy to guess from beta.

1735792455046.png
(Mizuki is on field swirl dps that doesnt normal attack + healer. Also notice the hp% enemy buff)

1735792524639.png

5.4 will be Mizuki + Wrio then Furina + Xianyun.

btw there is no new areas or artifacts in 5.4 either, only a new big event where characters meet at inazuma hotsprings that should be mizuki introduction. The 4* event spear is pretty solid but otherwise kinda of a dead patch tbh...

price leaked last week early, it's roughly the amount of gems saved if you bought the pass since launch. gonna have to wait and see how often they release another one, in genshin you can usually buy the 5* outfit with your saved gems every few months.
depending on the sales I suspect if they're low they'll reduce the price but split part of the whole package off or don't bother at all (like no more weapon skin).

Wrio then Furina
Oh fuck. Well finally I can get my hand on the Asshole who dragged me into this mess!

Edit: Bon jour, madam. Or something.
crossaint.png
She looks cool. She's voiced by Kana Ueda in JP. Yeah I'm digging it.

Now I hope the writing is not ass. Please don't be another annoying Rover simp. I pulled you, lady. Don't do this to me. I've yet to reach the new area because I took a long break from WuWa.

Shit posting and half joking aside, Zhenzhi is having her rerun so I'm going to pull for her too because her play style is fun. If not, I'll save the guarantee in case I lose the 50/50 for Zani or Brant. Whoever gets released first.

But also Changli rerun when? She's fun to use and her character, removed from Rover, is really cool.

I think you can go there early after the first chapter or so, no need to complete all of 1.0 first.

they were assumed to re-run in release order, but somehow jeji got put first, so who knows. they might pull a hoyo and drop her around hyped new characters to drain wallets even harder (or maybe kuro explicitly didn't want to do it to not make 2.0 too harsh). or it's simply because she's carlotta's best support.

Natlan archon quest is alright. I'll have my nitpicks anyway for a couple of parts and reddit complaints on "glazing the Traveler".
5 years and not one bit closer to why Tsaritsa needing gnoses for, Capitano is too busying saving Natlan at all cost. Then again, the Traveler doesn't seem to care that much to bother asking "friendly" Harbingers having any idea about Tsaritsa's goal. They probably don't know either, all for the lady.
Then again, MHY Tsaritsa has all the time in the world for her goal anyway. Considering it's now "canon" that the Traveler helping people and partying (Lantern Rites or main events) all around the world in between archon quests anyway. I mean, if players choose to do all Natlan side quests then you get bunch of side NPCs appearing as spirits to talk and help the players. Basically, every time there is a new Archon quest chapter asking for two-day time forward, those two-day time forwards are 100% exploration, doing world quests and companion quests.

This one (being super nitpicky) doesn't matter but about the Saurians intelligence. I'm not sure whether MHY wants to decide these are very smart creatures and able to understand humans much better than humans communicating with them. Like Ququsaurs in Chasca tribal quest, traveler Tepetlisaur and baby Tepetlisaur grandparents spirits.
Or they want them to be a simple-minded cutesy pet type. Like this one not leaving in the cave. Or ququsaurs were here in these tents only caring about food.
Yumkasaur.png Ququsaur.png
Of course, there is highly intelligent one like Kongamato. Lets say all of them are quite intelligent themselves, yet strangely in archon interlude where the Traveler tries to help trauma Natlan people. One guy is literally cured from his trauma by Traveler turning into a ququsaur pretending to be the guy's ququsaur companion. So why not you know practicing a few ququsaurs as helpers like assistance-dogs. Obviously in Chasca quest, there are Wingless in Flower Clan, not all ququsaurs are filled for combat.
Then again, entire point of that quest was to pushing sincerity of Capitano on helping Natlan.

Few people complain about glazing, complimenting (I hate zoomer word) the Traveler. It's like they don't notice at the start of Natlan, the Traveler is more widely known about their feats even from NPCs. Like Pascal was questioning the Traveler going with Kachina before finding out who they are. Kinich tribal quest, the unfortunate antagonist father was surprised at the Traveler willing to help and being more open rather than grumpy. Even the interlude quest helping trauma Natlan people, kids at Flower clan are in awed of the Traveler appearance.
Even half-way to Natlan archon quest, Lord of the Night pushes Pilgrim Chronicle on the Traveler to record their feats and later on helping Mavuika. The game forces section you to play as the Traveler to feel the Traveler achieving something in narrative. I don't get "glazing the Traveler". It's like these people have never ever played any rpg games ever, after a certain point, in game characters will cheer and acknowledge player character capabilities.
My bad, MHY games are the first games they have ever played , now stuck with them and may or may not grieving over them. If only they are grieving over how Genshin being slow or denying on improving and "reeking corporate pr and management" rather than this whole husbandos and waifus slap war.

WuWa 2.0, note to self to remind me of giving feedback for better audio mixing in game between voice lines, music and sound fx. Probably on my side, I can't figure out the best setting for myself yet. So I can experience boss fight music and cutscene music much more clearer.
Lorelei boss music is the only one I can remember. Why is it in game boss has opera singing (Queen of the night Aria) in it, yet full soundtrack doesn't. Having Phoebe reciting a choir for blessing maiden Aria before boss fight. Since Ragunna has Italy aesthetic, so conveniently comes with Aria the anime. Very funny, Kurogames.
Unfortunately, in game jukebox echo doesn't have boss themes either.

Having finished the archon quest and Mavuika's story quest, I will now proceed to shit on Natlan.

The last act of the main story quest and Mavuika's quest are insanely redundant:
- Before the final battle, prepare a feast, talk to everyone: "We're all in this together!"
- Before the final battle, have a feast, talk to everyone again: "We're all in this together!"
- Enter the Night Kingdom, talk to everyone again: "We're all in this together!"
- During the final battle, hear from everyone else: "We're all in this together!"
- After the final battle, talk to everyone again: "We were all in that together!"
- Start Mavuika's quest, talk to everyone again: "We were all in that together!"
- Midway through Mavuika's quest, talk to everyone again, they have nothing to add. You just have to waste time talking to every named character again.

I get that the whole theme of Natlan is, "no one fights alone," but holy fuck do they beat you over the head with it in the last act.

Until this last act, I was enjoying Natlan's setting. The game did a good job of portraying them as collectivist and community-focused, a nice change from the more individualistic Fontaine and Sumeru. It didn't surprise me that the Chinese, who literally worship their ancestors, were able to create a halfway decent Native American-themed setting with characters who revere the past. The last chapter and Mavuika's quest shining such a spotlight on her stupid fucking motorcycle really took me out of the setting, though. I think Chasca's railgun and Mavuika's motorcycle really don't belong in this game, not after 2-3 years of the story building up Fontaine as the technological capital of the world.

Why the fuck does Ajaw look like a fucking Atari sprite? The answer everyone gives is that it's not Ajaw, it's a projection of him from a relic Kinich found in a ruin. Okay, sure. Why does that projection of him look like a fucking Atari sprite? Why not a small dragon or a shadow or anything else that would've been more congruous with Genshin's art direction? It would be far less of a problem for me if the game didn't force me to talk to Kinich a hundred times and interrupt the story for their annoying, repetitive boke-tsukkomi comedy routine. The game continually calls attention to this stupid thing that's completely out of place in its own world.

Mavuika's story quest felt as pointless as Raiden's. It felt like fanfiction on the level of, "Who would win in a fight, Superman or Goku?"

I've given up trying to process any information about Natlan's backstory, Ochkanatlan, the dragonlords, or any of it. The game cannot make me care about it. It's been over four years since the game's release, and my brain has long since reached its storage limit for foreign names and massive backstory dumps told to me through explorer's notes. Fontaine's Narzissenkreuz and Remuria questlines really burned me out on Genshin's bad habit of giving the player a Russian novel's worth of lore and backstory and only allowing them to play the last page of that story.

Having finished the archon quest and Mavuika's story quest, I will now proceed to shit on Natlan.

I think Natlan was fine but it lacked fundamental things that make a story better for normies to follow.

-There was no good villain. "The abyss" who is too vague and generic. I sure as fuck don't remember the weekly boss name.
-There is no stakes because everyone knows important characters won't die, the one who died was resurrected 15 minutes later and Natlan leylines will be fixed because we need these people to travel to other continents for events.
-The sheer amount of "And then we had a party and ate and drink!" in every quest borders on parody. I was doing mavuika's quest without much thought and thought it reseted cause it happened multiple times.
-Capitano had years of hype only to to job on his introduction and do almost nothing. At least Signora got a boss fight.
-Character and tribe screentime is not balanced, with Iansan and Kinich being cameos while Citlali gets ship teased to hell and isn't even one of the heroes.
-There is no interpersonal conflict between any of the playable characters. Everyone is this super supportive friend and Citlali is a token tsundere.
-Natlan simply doesn't sell the "hundreds years of war" vibe. It's colorful, it's full of vibrant fun grafitti everywhere, there are cute baby pokemon dinos and everyone loves fighting for fun. We see the mavuika anime teaser and Natlan looks identical. This does not look like a country on brink of destruction.
-If people thought Traveler was glazed then what the hell was Mavuika? Everyone is constantly shilling her and she always wins and has plan is genius and she has zero flaws. Her quest does imply she's faking confidence for the sake of everyone but it ends right after.

The character designs also look out of place when they don't match either NPCs or enemies. In inazuma you play a stylized japanese thing fighting samurais. In sumeru you play a desert/forest guy fighting a mushroom or giant vulture. In fontaine you play a guy with a corset/top hat/monocle fighting steampunk robots.

But in natlan you play shit like a gyaru vtuber, a hot topic goth, a sexy cowboy cosplay, a tight leather biker and you fight dinosaurs and people wearing monster hunter sets. Might as well give Ifa a pair of nike jordans.

The only saving grace is that Capitano failing means another harbinger will come to get the Gnosis before natlan ends meaning the "main story" technically isn't over yet.

And in some positive news, i used teyvat interactive map and got all obsidian pieces wew, now to just clear ocknatlan quest and i'll be able to rest.

For me my continued enjoyment of the story really hinges on Snezhnaya and the Cryo Archon's plan/goal. I was hoping that the story leak I read around the 4.7 patch would come true, where the traveler would get the pyro gnosis and this would use it to force a confrontation with the Tsaritsa and learn what the fuck is going on, but it looks like that isn't happening.

I left that out of my rant, but that bothered me, too. The story repeatedly insists that Natlan has been the frontline of a centuries-long war, yet two of its five major population centers consist of rickety wooden planks driven into the side of a cliff. The Children of Echoes village looks a lot like real-world Anasazi villages, which were built to be easy to defend. That's all well and good. Meanwhile the Scions of the Canopy village is a shitty wooden balcony driven halfway up a plateau. It's not even at the top of the plateau, which would make it almost impossible to assault. It's halfway up the side. Hillichurls could stand at the top of the cliff dropping rocks and torches down and burn the village to nothing. The Flower-Feather Clan's architecture relies on fuckin' load-bearing balloons. A couple Hillichurl archers could pop the foundations of their town and reduce it to a pile of lumber. They don't look like the kind of towns you would build if your nation has been at war for five centuries.

This is the kind of thing I normally wouldn't notice or care about, but the game keeps calling attention to things it's added to its setting that interrupt my suspension of disbelief.

Reddit and metafags that refuse to play the MC for story quests and view them as a blank slate despite them having character moments and a literal backstory bugs the shit out of me to the same level as game journos and youtube review people claiming link from BotW was a "blank slate" and should have been female despite the entire fucking game being about him regaining his memory and there being a "good ending" state reserved for if you went and did everything quest wise that got his memory back.

I'm gonna have to disagree with this. I was offput by natlan character designs at first but then I realized ALL the tribe NPC members of the things the characters came from have similar designs and it made sense to me. I don't know how you missed shit like a big fucking chunk of the npcs from the one with the cowboy hat's village having cowboy hats and similar outfits to her. It's literally fucking bionicle. The plot is 6 colorful unique tribes having to unite and face off an almost incomprehensible enemy underground.

I left that out of my rant, but that bothered me, too. Did you somehow miss the multiple stated times where they pointed out Natlan managed to have 500 years of "peace" from sending people into the fucking night kingdom to fight the abyss? And The flower feather clan and the scions of the canopy's towns being the ones that were fucking DESTROYED WHEN THE ABYSS ACTUALLY INVADED IN THE ARCHON QUEST?

My thoughts are they got too comfy with the only place they had to deal with the abyss being the night kingdom most of the time. I also noticed there's less abyss order activity in natlan despite there literally being abyss demons rising from the earth stealing the forms and somehow sometmes consciousness/memories of the deceased. There's a few mages around in the ruins but not many other places.

Natlan also has literally zero siege weapons, not even a catapult or anything. This might sound petty but

1-Monster Hunter has cannons and harpoons to deal with the bigger monsters.
2-Liyue already had siege bows and they made a big deal about needing those to deal with Osial.

Genshin in general prioritizes fantasy over any logical military. Monstat has cavalry but i never seen a horse. Fontaine is 98% water but there is no Navy (there used to be one but not anymore?).

It's also funny how like, Vision holders are basically one man armies but if any of them is military it's simply a happy coincidence. It's not like anyone ever point out that every tribe hero is the only vision holder of that tribe competing or wonder how there is 5 kids in liyue with visions in the same neighborhood and not a single one in the Milelith. There is also zero criminals with vision on anyone who abuses them in this universe.

Did they explain why Ifa wasnt there? Or why varesa didn't help despite training Iansan? I don't care if they didn't sign to be a hero, i'm sure they know how fight so get every vision holder in the frontline lol.

I admit to missing or forgetting this part. Maybe because of the multiple invasions that happen over the course of the questline, and because one of the last things you hear in the Fontaine questline is Neuvillette telling you Natlan is a nation of war that has been "ravaged by war." I guess part of my frustration is caused by not reading closely enough or logging away the wrong facts or whatever.
And The flower feather clan and the scions of the canopy's towns being the ones that were fucking DESTROYED WHEN THE ABYSS ACTUALLY INVADED IN THE ARCHON QUEST?
This part is impossible to miss, because it happens during the most memorable part of the entire questline. Then they spend the rest of the questline and Mavuika's story quest talking about reconstruction efforts. Except, because of the nature of the game, they can't remove the Scions' shitty balcony village and show them living in tents on the ground. It goes right back to exactly how it was before the battle, leading to a huge disconnect between what the story is saying and what you can see with your eyes. "Our town was destroyed last week!" they say as you stand in their town, which isn't destroyed, which looks like it did a week ago. So either it was destroyed, and they rebuilt the same flimsy wooden shantytown in a week, having learned nothing. Or somehow this shitty flammable village wasn't destroyed, and the game is lying to me. Neither one is satisfying to me.
Monstat has cavalry but i never seen a horse.
I might forgive the game for giving Mavuika a motorcycle if it turns out Mondstat's cavalry actually rides motorcycles instead.

You are forgetting there was no frontline. Abyss just paradrops reinforcements wherever it pleases.
My biggest problem so far is that we don't know what that dragon was. For every other weekly boss there was a quest that more or less explained what it was and how it happened to be there. Maybe I've missed it somewhere, but I saw nothing like that for the dragon. He's definetly not one of the generic abyss units, so there must've been some story.
