German game developer Mimimi is shutting down, two weeks after shipping their final game Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew.

Mimimi’s Final Game

Dear community, team and industry,

It is with a heavy heart that today we have to share the news that Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew will be Mimimi’s final game.

As we look back at our 15-year journey crafting games (and crying about it), we feel grateful for the incredible love and support we received from all of you. We cherished every game we made and feel proud of what we were able to accomplish as a studio.

At the same time, dedicating the past decade and a half of our lives working on increasingly ambitious games took a heavy personal toll on us and our families. After the release of Shadow Gambit we decided it was the right time to prioritize our well-being and to pull the brakes instead of signing up for another multi-year production cycle.

While this means that we won’t start production on a new big game, we will continue to fully support Shadow Gambit. We are already working on a patch across all platforms and have a big content drop planned for later this year, which we are sure you will love just as much as we do!

This also means we will be slowly ramping down the studio over the next few months. We shared this decision with the whole team at an on-site meeting before releasing this announcement.

We will be doing everything in our power to support our team, and we are now starting to reach out to our friends in the industry to find suitable new jobs for all Mimimis. If you have open positions and are interested in hiring our amazing talents, please get in touch via hiring@mimimi.games.

Thanks to the recent launch of Shadow Gambit, we are also able to pay out a bonus to all employees to help them during their transition.

We want to thank our community and fans for playing our games and engaging with us. Your joy and support were what fueled our passion!

We want to thank our industry peers that helped us along all stages of this company, from founding it to self-publishing for the first time. Your mentoring was pivotal for our success!

We want to thank all our business partners, especially Kowloon Nights, THQ Nordic and Daedalic Entertainment, as well as all external partners and companies that have worked with us. Also, thanks to both the Bavarian regional games fund FFF Bayern and the German games grant of the BMWK. Without the funding, skills and assistance from all of you, this journey wouldn’t have been possible.

And, most of all, we want to thank the whole team and everyone who worked with us in any capacity on these games. You made Mimimi what it was!

We are now focused on delivering the additional content for Shadow Gambit and fulfilling our duties as Managing Directors of the company – to our team, our fans and our business partners, in the most supportive way we can.

And while we don’t know what the future will hold for the both of us, we still love video games.

We had a really good run and we are truly grateful for all of this!

Thank you!

Dominik and Johannes

Sales must have been awful for the studio to close two weeks after their last game shipped. What happened?

Pictured: negress.

Mimimi decided to go woke in the biggest way by putting a negress on the cover of their new game. Other games to feature a negress on the cover included "Dishonored: Death of the Outsider", the new "Saints Row" and "Far Cry: New Dawn", all franchise killers, in addition to "Deathloop" and "Forspoken."

Pour one out for another diversity victim.

These guys dying probably has less to do with having a darkie on the cover of their last game (which has only been out for a week and a half and doesn't deviate that much from their other games) as much as it does the fact that they specialize in very niche isometric squad-stealth strategy games that sold like shit:

Which is a shame honestly, because both Shadow Tactics and Desperadoes 3 are great, but they're just too high-concept for the average gamer. At least they went out making what they were good at, and didn't die some indignant death trying to spin up some battle royale or gatcha as a last ditch for cash like I've seen from other smaller studios.

Radical Fish Games
They should have put a forklift in there somewhere to get some domestic sales at least.
Is there anything left in Germany besides Piranha Bytes and the X guys?
who released Crosscode 5 years ago and are working on their 2nd game Project Terra (working title). Would definitely recommend Crosscode to action RPG fans or just anyone who needs a good game to get immersed in.

Oh, it's the Shadow Tactics guys? That's a shame. I thought that game was pretty good, but yeah, they never seemed to really make it big, and this new title seems like it flew so far under the radar it crashed into the ground.

It's a well known fact that niggers don't sell. They destroy everything. From cities to popular entertainment franchises. Just look at those new Star Wars movies from Disney. Full of niggers and other retarded woke cancer and they are all trash. Niggers niggers and more niggers is a basically the rule of the day now and no one wants to pay to see niggers. You can see niggers for free.

People won't tolerate having niggers shoved in their faces and Kikes asking an entry fee to have it happen.

I bought Desperados III on Steam but it's one of those games that sits in my backlog and hasn't been played yet. That's just one game. I didn't even know who Mimimi was. So I guess it's no real big loss.

Tbf, a pirate game is one of the few genres where negresses are kinda believable, plus at least she isn't ugly.

It kinda looks like the general case of a small studio going too far into a niche and never considering the "insignificant" question of "why the fuck would someone buy our games when there are plenty of old games with the same gameplay". In gaming, like in all business, you go big or go home.

Like I'm reading about Shadow Gambit and it's a dead setting (pirates) and overused concept (cthulu). There is nothing that really uses the setting's strength and it could be altered to basically every other setting with no issue.

damn, shadow tactics was good and i wasnt aware of this new game to begin with. looks fun. i'd probably play it but alas i am poor

It sounds like, and I'm willing to believe, that it was just starting to cost too much money and manpower to keep upping the ante on throwback love letters to a sub-sub-genre of games that last had a heyday about 15 years prior.

Me, I'm a giant dork, and Shadow Tactics is one of my favorite games of the last several years, but if you're going to survive off people like me it's probably best to limit your scope and control your budget.

Also the lack of support for fan made maps is fucking astonishing. Such an obvious blank spot.

Shadow Tactics was kind of disappointing, honestly. Points for concept but not for execution.

I didn't save the images, but there was early concept art for the game posted on /v/ where the MC was a red-headed lady(with a tricorn hat) that looked fairly similar to Miss Fortune from League of Legends. In making that captain(and most other characters) a nigger, they did hang onto this general design for a side character.

Yeah I'm sure that one Black woman on one cover is why a company that made very niche cult classics suddenly failed. Have you heard of the new American Krogan mod for Fallout 4, OP? You'd probably like that.

STOP. REPLACING. GINGERS. WITH. NIGGERS.

Do you even want gingers like that in a game? She's a fricking hambeast that looks like a corpse.

Desperados III is very good.

That said, it has a voodoo queen in it so you might get your knickers twisted over that. I found her character a little annoying because she seemed to be kind of the "heart" of the gang, which isn't very fitting for a voodoo queen. Not that you have to play to stereotypes, but a literal witch doing curses is not going to be a good person.
