Let us rate users instead of posts. People need to know that they're dumb, not just what they say.
 
The ratings system on this website has become such a god awful mess that the only solution at this point would be to just scrap negative ratings all together. Let me give you a couple of reasons. One, is that revenge rating has become a pervasive problem on this website. Rather than people discussing their differences people would rather just revenge rate. I don't care of my revenge rating is but it hinders discussion. Second negative ratings are used as a way to encourage other people to take part in needless discussion. There are many posts on this website to be made. This goes beyond that do not deliver any new information. There are posts that are made that essentially mimic what the person above them said and the only reason that somebody would make these posts is to harvest positive ratings to counteract negative ratings If you look at any post that's made in disco what you'll notice is that be on page 1 people are essentially saying the same thing. At the same time people will use the ratings system to bully and shut down other users. One of the ways that this happened has happened in prior discussion / post discussion.
 
Get rid of the like and dislike ratings. No one uses them anyway. Add more meme ratings.

Just bring ratings back to Feedback. It was a nice idea to eliminate ratings and see if that improved the quality of discussion any, and for maybe half a week it seemed like it was working but I think any groupthink eliminated by cutting out this system is overridden by the fact that frankly this subforum is terrible and I have a feeling that the lack of ratings has got something to do with it. 85 percent of the time it's literally a shitposting Inner Circle just with no ratings, which as we all know is fucking useless because shitposting is boring and lame if you can't ratings whore while doing it.

More seriously, ratings can cow people into not saying what's on their mind, but they also provide a means for people to discourage posts that aren't helpful or contribute to the discussion. Half of the posts on here are just "agree!" and "winner" and "that's informative", which if I recall correctly is the kind of the reason why we started adding ratings.

Plus Glaive was the person who really pushed for the no-ratings-in-feedback system in the first place (as well as a significant portion of changes in this site having to do with ratings in general) and he ded now.
 
Ratings are shit and garbage. I want them gone.
