Ghost and True Capitalist Radio General Thread

Even though he is getting up there in age, he will definitely come back for the 2020 election, maybe even the midterms later this year. Ever since Trump's election, Ghost really thinks his internet soapbox has real reach and impact on the political process.

Yesterday's rant:

According to the comments, the March 14th f-bomb-laden rant got him demonitized from BTR. This may be the end...

He's back already, but full of pissant fury about recent news and political developments.

The current plan is for Ghost to do one more week of broadcasts on BTR before he migrates the show entirely to his ghost.report site. There will have to be some technical workaround for Radio Graffiti, though, since he will not be able to use a proper switchboard like on BTR. He's thinking of running RG as a conference call in which everyone is muted by default, and he unmutes people when their turn comes up.

The BTR archive of old shows may be taken down, though it is already mirrored on so many Youtube channels that I doubt much if any content will be lost

Today's show is the last one on BTR. Ghost is planning a comeback on his own broadcasting platform in late April or early May at the latest, depending on how long it takes him to set up the new broadcasting software. People are pressing him to return on 4/20 to continue the tradition of Ghost doing a 420 stoner episode, and he seems amenable to the idea

It's not much of a loss that he won't be doing Radio Graffiti anymore, it was all literally the same format like he said with splices and tub guy getting the last call with only 10 minutes being devoted to it anyway. I hope he'll at least have some serious call-ins though.

RG lasted being gone for a day
Now its .99 cents to call in for it.
Well, he claims that if it's a particularly content-worthy call, he'll reimburse the caller in cryptocurrency.

Otherwise, all that's left is gab and chatroom shoutouts. He needs to adjust his mic gain.

Did he specifically say RG was 99 cents a call? Because I was under the impression that RG was discontinued and regular calls cost that much.

Huh, I didn't know he came back. Apparently most don't since usually the TCR reuploads on youtube used to get way more views, now they are struggling to get a few hundred. I don't know what my point is, but I'm glad I have some Radio Graffiti to catch up on.

that's where you're wrong, kiddo

He discontinued Radio Graffiti. The third hour is still pretty fun though. He takes serious calls and occasionally does chatroom/Gab Q&A.
I assume he discontinued RG because of the trolls, right?

Surprised it lasted this long considering all the shit that was pulled over the years.

he discontinued it because RG had gradually become 95% splices and remixes since The Return. In the golden age of TCR from '08-'12, splices and remixes were only like 50-60% of RG, and the rest of the calls were character calls, trash-talking, and banter. Ghost always preferred that RG exist as an interactive opportunity for verbal sparring with characters and trolls, since he believed the trolls ought to face his banter if they wanted to dish it out on air, whereas splice/remix calls don't give him as much material to work with and somewhat insulate the more cowardly trolls from his ripostes.

RG in the old days was to a huge extent defined by the ongoing battle of wits and bantz between Ghost and the big troll characters, almost like a kind of sitcom in terms of the extensive storyline and evolving relationship between Ghost and the supporting cast of characters. Since The Return, though, only Tub Guy remained of the classic troll characters, and all his calls are "scripted" and fairly repetitive anyway. There were a worthy handful of new troll characters like the African Booty Scratcher and Germit the Frog who stepped in to fill the void, but there were not enough of them and they did not call in with the same frequency as the big characters in the old day.

But again, why keep it running for as long as it had? I doubt many people would have missed it after mid-2017 with all the fallout that occurred at that time. Was Ghost just hoping it'd improve over time when it just got worse and worse?

RG brought a significant amount of regular listeners to his broadcast, so he knew he couldn't cut it as a segment without losing a ton of listeners, and while he was on BTR the listener count was important to his ad revenue. It's difficult to retroactively gauge stats from his BTR stream, but in the various relay streams, you'd notice that attendance and viewership numbers would rapidly spike, sometimes even double as the broadcast approached RG. And a lot of times, people who arrived early for RG would sometimes find they liked the regular broadcast and would change from RG-only listeners to regular listeners

However, with the migration of his broadcast from BTR to his own site, he knew he was going to lose a bunch of listeners anyway from the mini-hiatus and site change, so he decided it was a good time to trim the fat when it came to RG.

As of last episode, Ghost is considering crowdfunding TCR and bringing back Radio Graffiti if people donate to it. He's going to release a video on Gab soon regarding it.
