Oh, sweet child of summer, you were obviously not around for the fanboy rage that transpired when Michael Keaton was announced as Batman. Or the Ewoks. Or Jar-Jar Binks. Or the special editions of the original trilogy. Or when the hero of the Mission Impossible TV show became the villain of the first Mission Impossible movie. Or when Optimus Prime died in the 80's Transformers movie. Or Batman and Robin. Or when they changed the costumes in the X-Men movies. Or the 98 Godzilla reboot. Or that shitty Phantom of the Opera movie with Gerard Butler.

My point is, people getting mad at movies before they've even come out is nothing new.

No you see the reason people said the Indiana Jones Crystal Skull movie was terrible and raped their childhoods, to the point that Southpark made an entire episode centered around Spielberg and Lucas literally raping Indiana Jones, is obviously because of mysoginy, racism and angry white-supremacist Trump supporters. It is the only possible explanation. Why else would anyone attack defenceless, blameless strong womyn actors resurecting a beloved movie franchise and updating it to the politically correct standards of [CURRENT YEAR]?

In the end, it's just a movie. Honestly, I'm tired of remakes in general. I think it'd be better if they did this as "Ghostbusters: the Next Generation". Like, the old Ghostbusters are now retired, and they're passing on the torch to a new bunch. I think that would be kinda cool. But all these remakes of classic films? What the fuck's the point? Unless we're talking about movies based on books, or comics, or plays, or whatever, they generally suck.

Kinda like they did with the new "Vacation" movie. It wasn't a remake -- this time it was Rusty taking HIS kids to Wally World. Yeah, it sucked, but at least they didn't try to remake it totally, and recast Clark and Ellen. (God, I loved those movies.)

This was like 99% of why I'm anti-Ghostbusters remake.

Honestly, it looks like your average trying too hard comedy at best (like...maybe a step or two above the shit Adam Sandler shits out every other year); all the nostalgiatards vs. feminazi champing at the bit aside, and it could probably just fade into average "meh" status obscurity as a result if it WASN'T for that obnoxious shitslinging going on between those two groups.

But Hollywood hasn't had a good original idea in...god, almost a decade? I'm sick of remakes/reboots. It's like being stuck in an eternal Groundhog Day loop of 80s/90s culture saturation (take bets how long until they remake THAT movie), over and over and over again. Even the animated film studios have stopped coming up with much in the way of original ideas; Disney's just remade everything live-action and Pixar and Dreamworks are just churning out sequels to their popular franchises.

At the end of the day, good or bad, the Ghostbusters remake is at the very least just another bit of scum in the cultural stagnation that is the current decade.

As I said in the other thread about the Ghostbusters, it's kind of sad to see the reaction the film has got. All it's done has made both sides look extremely bad.

You've had SJW journalists claiming if you dislike the film then you're more than likely a sexist Trump supporter and then on the other side you've had people like MundaneMatt uploading close to daily updates whining and complaining about how bad the film is going to be and comparing it to the originals.

It's kind of fun for anyone who's inpartial I suppose, to see two sides act like children over something so petty as a Ghostbusters movie. Dynastia is probably right, the movie will more than likely be painfully average and it'll be forgotten within a few weeks with both sides being like 'we got on like idiots over that?'

I think the movie will be so painfully average that both it's dangerhair supporters and neckbeard opponents will both kind of just stare at the floor and quietly shuffle away and not really say anything embarrassing and the only people to chimp out all salty of it will be the kiwis denied the entertainment they were expecting.
While that's the most likely outcome, I certainly hope it'll crash and burn. My lived experience tells me SocJus harpies produce a more refined salt on a much longer timeframe than average shmoes fuming at a movie.

Lady Slimer looks to be basically identical to Sir Slimer, but for some bangs and lipstick (love that shade, girl). Just as a thought exercise (and to throw a couple scorpions into the starched pants of the Whining Class): What if Lady Slimer is transgender, and the new “Ghostbusters” as a whole will be a conduit for normalizing non-binary relationships? What if the evil “ghosts” are the conservative patriarchy still reaching desperately for a mercifully bygone era?
So, essentially that person says: "Lady Slimer looks a lot like it's male counterpart, therefore its very likely a transgendered person, seeing how they never manage to transition well!" And this person considers itself progressive by doing so? :story:

Edit:
What we need is a really dispassionate, neutral and fair review. @Jaimas, you up for this shit?

This thread is in place incase you end up with large quantities of salt. Or stuff like this-

They're ectoplasm. They're genderfluid by default.

I don't know if I love you or hate you for that.

Also, while I am mostly indifferent to this movie (I mean I am against it, but not for the nostalgiatard's reasons; so I consider that a kind of indifferent), I can still state with absolute certainty that the cover of the theme song done by Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot is an absolute pile of shit. And this is from someone who actually likes FOB's music.

It's just...ugh, it's so discordant; it's like the musical equivalent of a high school pep rally.

That is the sound of artists churning out a completely sterile and produced track they have no passion or attachment for. The only thing they were passionate about was their paychecks. As artificial and soulless as the rest of the movie probably is.

Making films costs a lot of money these days, so in order for films to make as much money as possible (and make up for said costs), producers follow established, recognisable formulas and franchises. Exact same thing applies to video games.

Ever since the aughts we have entered an era of media where IP's never, ever die. They are put in cryo for later use or shuffled around or dug up and raped by necrophiliacs, but anything that has even the slightest brand name recognition is too valuable to ever let go. Hence the dozen Star Wars movies Dysney probably has lined up.
Oh well, it has it's upsides too. I think something like Game of Thrones would've worked much better as an animated series, if only for the feasibility and realistic budget to be a true addaptation to the books, without the constraints of actors aging, logistics of physical shoots in varying locations worldwide, etc. When the TV series ends and the final books finally release (years afterwards, calling it now) there will probably be a variety of different attempts to continue cashing in on the IP under way. It's too valuable to leave dormant.

1) The fuck's a Magic Mike?
2) If their idea of "supporting the movie" is going to the cinema repeatedly while being obnoxiously loud and "OH MAH GOD THIS SO FUNNEH! HUR HUR HUR!!!" then I can do without. Even if I was going to watch this movie in a theatre, I certainly wouldn't want someone to ruin that experience by being loud and obnoxious. It really reminds me of this scene.
3) Calling it: Sony is pulling the strings behind such articles and playing the SJWs like a fiddle. "Show your support to feminism by mindlessly shelling out money for soulless Hollywood cash-in garbage!"

Following the LotR route, they'll also make a series about "The Hedgeknight", I guess. Not having yet read that book, it might be interesting to have a show loosely based on the books that just kinda does its own thing with the characters.
Thinking about it, maybe it would be like that Kevin Sorbo Hercules Show? I don't know if that's good or bad...

According to people who went with reviewers for the screening, they said the movie is crap and horrible.
Also all males are portrayed in a bad light and the black actress's character is a racist stereotype.
:story:

I don't watch too many movies so I'm neutral on the whole movie stance, but one thing's for sure.

The drama's probably a hell of a lot more entertaining than the movie.

Female cast or no female cast, all the trailers I saw made the movie look godawful.

PS: Women don't need a GRRL POWER cast to like a movie, Hollywood, kthx.
