I dont even care about the movie or the fact that its supposed to be genderswapped.
I just find it funny that the women they cast aren't even that funny to me. there are plenty of funny female comedians.

I agree. It really grinds my gears that Kaitlin Olsen isn't in more stuff. Though I guess she was in finding dory recently so that's good.

It's one of my favorites too, and like I said in the multimedia thread I can pretend this new movie doesn't exist, the same way I pretended nothing was made in the Terminator series since T2.
I don't see how you can be a nerd and not have this as a coping skill. There are so many Star Trek and Dragonball things I just don't acknowledge. It's like some people enjoy being angry over nothing, which is really not good for one's health

Well, I love the original movies and it's true whatever happens to the franchise will not diminish the awesomeness of the original 2 movies (and that kickass cartoon), however it's a real shame to see a franchise like that being gutted this passionless just for a quick buck...
Seeing how the franchise lay dormant for 30+ years, it's not like this new movie is going to 'kill' the franchise, but still it's kind of a shame to have this thing tag along the history of the franchise as an "Also, this movie existed..."
But everyone whining like this is the end of the world should grow a pair of balls, like, seriously.
And in the same manner, every asshole that's shitting on legit criticism pretending it's solely rooted in misogyny sould eat a bag of dicks.

Quite simply, don't like it, don't see it.

If enough people don't see it, it won't make enough money to milk a sequel. If it loses money, it's dead.

Just let the cards fall where they will and all of that jazz.

As for me? They stabbed my childhood where they shot the main villain of the movie. Right in the dick and I will not be seeing it.

I won't be seeing it because the trailers were unfunny, the CGI looked to be Scooby Doo level, and if trailers are showing the best scenes the movies have (and most are supposed to) then it stuck it's best foot forward. Into the cinematic grave. The dialogue seemed absolutely forced. IN the trailers themselves. You could sort of tell the actresses in the movie weren't even enjoying themselves - or at least I could. I could care less whether or not Sony is exploiting a franchise I used to like. It's been dead for a long time. Coming out of the wood work now to complain about them bringing back something most people forgot about is pointless. As far as I'm concerned, if there's no heart going into making the movie (by the actors, directors, script writers) it's going to suck. Adam Sandler keeps doing the same stupid schtick over and over and you can tell he's just not enjoying it or putting his effort in anymore.

I'll never understand why this became such a big thing. It's just one movie.
Because someone at Sony figured they can get pity bucks by calling detractors sexists and making feminists feel like they're helping the cause.

...whether or not it'll pay off is uncertain since it didn't help Mad Max Fury Road much.

Manchildren can bitch and moan about the shitty trailer.
Dangerhairs can bitch and moan about manchildren.
Manchildren will then bitch about Dangerhairs and the ouroboros is set up in perfect allignment.

I watched the Smurf movie, "Chipwrecked" and After Earth. I am going to watch this movie, just to see how bad it is. Not gonna pay a damn red cent, though.

I've read a few of the reviews that have come out. A few talk about how Leslie Jone's character is racist, and others a strong depiction. So I guess it's gonna be split. RT is currently resting at about 73%. Might go down depending on who views it. One review talked about how the movie seriously wasn't worth all the praise and scorn it has gotten and will just be forgotten in six months. Objectively, they all seem to talk about how bad the CGI is.

I'm so glad it's out and it's a piece of shit.

Soon, very very soon, people will stop talking about it. The hype and hate for this movie was an emotionally manipulative clusterfuck sprinkled with 'muh sexism' and 'muh original ghost busters was better'.

Thank you God. It'll soon be over.

Forbes: "A Winning Cast Saves An Undewhelming Reboot"

http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottme...t-saves-an-underwhelming-reboot/#1fffb6707870

I've noticed a few reviews say Paul Feig was probably not the best choice of director for this.

Paul Feig also wrote the thing and pitched it to Sony. Here's from the leaked Sony emails

"Here’s my take on it: It’s a reboot of the franchise in a world (our world) that has never actually had any legitimate contact with the ghost world. Our villain ghost is an executed murderer, a Ted Kazinski type (think Peter Dinklage) who has left behind a manifesto of how he wants to change and destroy the world. When his execution is hit by a supercharged electrical storm, he is turned into a powerful ghostable to rouse other villainous spirits from the ghost world to carry out the ever-expanding plans of his manifesto. Our four new female Ghostbusters come together in an origin story that sees them forming a team based on their diverse skills and plays with the invention and trial-and-error of their various Ghostbusting technology and techniques as they try to stop the villain and his ever growing force of evil ghosts, which is a boring way of saying that we’ll see four very different women come together and figure out in funny, scary and action-packed ways how to save New York City and the world."

nigga wut

Apparently he had plans to turn the Ghostbusters into an MIB type thing with space ghosts in it.

Yeah, until they reboot Masters of the Universe with a black tranny He-Man next year.

I've heard the movie takes a pot shot at the negative reception the movie has online
Doubtful, most movies are completely finished several months in advance of their actual release.

I'm not calling this Ghostbusters, since it seems to be an Adam Sandler comedy with proton packs.
From now on, I'm referring to this as Dickbusters.

There's also this thing that thankfully never came to be:

As one of the commenters said: "The glass ceiling of the Justice League... that's exactly what I've always wanted to see on the big screen..."
