I love how people here discuss the importance of Sony's action and the whole MRA vs SJW clusterfuck shitstorm like it's something that relevant. Outside 'Murica and a few more places, the debate/fight is almost non-existent. I live in one of those places where MRA/SJW are seeing as plain idiots and/or kids with attention seeking problems. Nothing else.

Holy fuck, this. I'd give you a semper fidelis if I could.

So this apparently wasn't a very good opening weekend for the movie; a lot of people who went were reporting empty or near-empty cinemas:

A friend of mine who went to see it had the same response; he liked it but he was the only person in the theatre.
How appropriate for this movie that the cinema resembles a ghost town.
Jesus Christ, just how many nobodies are there on youtube putting those videos up?

Literally every dumb gamergate neckbeard has an opinion on it

what's gamergate. and what happen with autistics like this when ghostbusters 2016 is gone and forgotten:

EDIT: After months of sperging about that movie, he begins the video saying "I wanted to like it"
Gotta love the comments:

So let me get this straight.. You made loads of videos about how shit Ghostbusters was Gona be and then spent money to go watch it at the cinema contributing to the movie being a success and allowing more bullshit like this to be made !!!! Your a fucking idiot and I'm unsubscribing !!

Damn, those neckbeards are physically preventing strong womyn from entering the theatres!
They got all ready to see the movie, and then remembered video games existed and curled up into the fetal position while the Patriarchy itself came down from the heavens to kick them.

Almost makes me wonder what will happen if it gets a tie-in video game

Maybe people are just tired of too many reboots happening (finally!) and media arguing about almost everyting if it's racist/sexist/homophobic (finally!) are reasons this movie flops? Kind of bad timing.

Why would you have to waste your time and money watching a movie you knew you're gonna hate is beyond me.

But eh this is from the infamous "Turn off that pesky adblock" guy so it should be easy to predict why he wants to make these videos (other than ranting) anyway.

It's actually a pretty good deal if you don't view buying a ticket as seeing a movie but rather renting an empty theater for two hours.

It looks like the Ghostbusters reboot will earn around $45 million at the domestic box office this weekend, which is on the low end of "good but not that great" for a movie with a $150 million budget, plus dozens millions more in advertising. It's higher than Sony's own prediction for the weekend, but keep in mind that studios generally lowball their own predictions so it's more likely that they can say a movie exceeded expectations once the "actual" weekend numbers are in, usually on a Monday.

It's in the weird middle range where both fans and haters can claim victory; fans can crow that the movie didn't bomb and haters can crow that the movie wasn't a breakout hit and probably won't even be number 1 at the domestic box office this weekend, likely opening at number 2 behind the second weekend of The Secret Lives of Pets.

Incidentally, speaking of both of those movies, I've noticed far more toys and merchandise for The Secret Lives of Pets at Toys R' Us than I have for the Ghostbusters reboot. My local Toys R' Us has like two measly pegs of Ghostbusters figures and some containers of "ectoplasm" (similar to the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Slime Pit slime that my brothers got all over the carpet in the mid-1980s) and that's about it.

Damnit, I wanted to go see it (unironically) tonight.

But I forgot and my movie buddy apparently forgot about it too.

So from the sounds of it it's just a kinda average movie, at least that's what I've been seeing from reviewers without political agendas. Who wants to bet in a couple months most everyone will just forget about it? Then again I know SJWs can wank for a while over shit, like I still see them bitching about Frozen every now and then.

I think a big reason is because Sony intentionally focused on it, they deleted negative comments from women from the trailer on YouTube as well as male negative comments not related to gender (Such as complaints about the special effects) but left the sexist comments and then continued that narrative into the promotional campaign including interviews, I think it's Sony intentionally trying to use gender identity politics to sell the movie and some people have fell for it and are helping Sony promote the movie.

This. The movie could have been really good if they basically made it Bridesmaids but with ghosts. Instead they made the incredibly strange decision to create an ode to third wave feminism that's extremely hateful and condescending towards men and anyone else who disagrees with their agenda.

Hell, it could have been funny if it had kept this angle too, it just had to do so with complete self-awareness and had been willing to make fun of itself.

This would have taken better writing however, and as we've seen so far this movie reeks of lazy decisions across the board.
