Culture Gilbert Gottfried Dead at 67

Famed comedian and actor Gilbert Gottfried has passed away at the age of 67. Actor Jason Alexander shared the news on his Twitter account with the message, "Gilbert Gottfried made me laugh at times when laughter did not come easily. What a gift. I did not know him well but I loved what he shared with me. My best wishes and sympathy to his family. #ripGilbertGottfried" Fellow comedian and editor Emery Emery also shared a message mourning the passing of Gottfried: "On the morning I'm releasing my latest film, I discover my friend and colleague, Gilbert Gottfried has passed. I am so so sad. Gilbert graciously lent his voice to the "Science Friction" project and he will be dearly missed but never forgotten. This is his hilarious contribution."

Gilbert Gottfried's official Twitter account later confirmed his death.

People should go back & listen to the early episodes of his podcast. They were really spontaneous & wild. Later they became less interesting, with the co-host basically just prompting the guests to repeat things they'd said in previous interviews. Gottfried seemed to have lost interest quite a while ago.

In his memory, I will continue to steal bars of soap from every hotel I go to.

You think it had to do with his illness?

No, I think he just didn't have much to say to a lot of the celebrities they had on. He really just wanted to riff about old movies & old songs. When they started doing the podcast via Skype because of the lockdown, then the quality really nosedived.

But he had seemed especially checked-out lately. He'd moved to Florida, was at his in-laws' house for at least one podcast (I wonder if he was there long term), & said he had totally lost interest in doing stand-up.

If any conspiracy theorists are interested, he was vaccinated & recently said he'd never had covid.

I don't really blame him sometime riffing old movies and songs can be fun.

Sucks to hear he lost interest in stand up.

What a ride. Listening to Gilbert & Bob talk about what Norm meant to them, then having Gilbert talk about Bob. I'd feel dumb saying that I'm "deeply upset" by people I hardly knew passing. But they all seemed really close and it kinda sucks to see people lose close friends in such quick succession. I can't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for their friends and family.

Every day that passes and a woman comedian is alive, I ask God why.
Especially since the only things most of them can talk about are the times they had nasty periods or nasty sex while being as vulgar as possible. Despite what they think swearing and vulgarity do not make up for a lack of good jokes.

This one was tough. I'll really miss Gilbert, he was one of my favorites.

called him being next when Bob Saget died, where's my no-prize?

edit:
First Norm MacDonald, then Bob Saget, and now Gilbert Gottfried. I would ask who's next, but I don't want to find out. :(
don't worry, going off the Norm guest list hypothesis, next up is probably either Andy Dick or Todd Glass.
