Girl dinner
a dinner that consists of many different kinds of small appetizers/snacks rather than just one entree

I prefer to eat this way rather than prepare a meal. Post favorite combinations or what you've thrown together recently. I got some really tasty cheese so I've been eating around that.

My favorite no-effort dinner is just meat, cheese, and some kind of fruit. There's basically no rules and it all comes down to pairings. When it's the proper season, stuff like pears and applesauce get canned so they're always available. Failing that, some specific canned fruits can work in a pinch. Fresh is always the best choice, but buying an apple in March not only feels wrong, they've generally been in cold storage for who knows how long. Meat can be literally anything: leftover steak, pepperoni, summer sausage, chicken jerky, turkey deli meat, bacon, it pretty much all goes well with cheese and fruit. I'm partial to a softer, mellower cheese like swiss or mild cheddar, but really anything is open since fruit cuts right through it.

Your high-concept, weebmaxxed Indonesian salad, madam. It's just cucumber with pickled cabbage, pickled chili paste, and sweet soy sauce.

I sometimes throw in kimchi, fermented cauliflower, or fermented beets. Chopped shallot also elevates it greatly, but then you have to peel and chop shallots. A teaspoon of white wine vinegar makes it sweet-sour-spicy and aids digestion. Oh! And a little fresh-cracked white pepper.

It's a side dish, but if your Beautiful Princess Disorder is acting up and you are anamaxxing, it could be girldinner.

For your girldinner main, wifeslop is utterly slept on -- by women and men. Random meat stew with random vegetables, created on sunday and kept in containers for nuking and pouring over rice while you make your high-concept side.

Honey, you've hardly touched your randomly placed carrot, or your ball!

I chop things, crush garlic 10 minutes before because I saw a tiktok saying it would make me into Superman, then throw them into my stainless steel pan. Tomato paste, pickled chili paste, vinegar, and soy sauce for flavor. Then I toss with pastawater and random pasta to make a sauce. Keep warm and fry up two eggs to throw on top.

I think my $2 chef's knife is starting to rust because I put it in the dishwasher even though it's not dishwasher safe.

There's a Polish grocery store where I get pickled mushrooms and peppers. They also carry jars of different kinds of vegetable dip (I'm sure they wouldn't call it that, but this is America, and that's what it is) - eggplant, roasted pepper, pumpkin, beets, etc. You can stock up, then have something delicious and convenient in the pantry when you don't feel like cooking. I don't think all the food there is actually Polish, so any Eastern European grocery store probably has something similar.

When I feel like a light dinner I just have a box or two of these instead of one large meal.

so the meme is real

when im too lazy to make a supper "dinner" i just take a piece of sausage and some onion thickly sliced onion sprinkled with maggi-wurze and just eat it like that
The meme is so real indeed.

I almost exclusively make what can be classified as "guychow". Just meat 'n potatoes every day and rotate through the sides. The meat and potatoes give you 90% of your daily required nutrients by itself, the texture of potatoes is just amazing (IMO) and with a bit of seasoning they taste good too. It's the utilitarian choice for men.

Just from personal experience the "wifeslop" and "foidslop a.k.a. girl dinner" stereotypes ring true, with the former for middle aged to elderly women and the latter for younger unmarried women.

What all four types have in common is that they deviate from traditional recipes. In this fast pace world most people don't follow recipes anymore.

Actually following recipes correctly for every meal is only practical when you're a stay-at-home housewife who has to feed 9 children. Searching for recipes takes a good amount of time, then gathering the ingredients (some of which you'll have to buy new and never use again!), prepare a ridiculous amount of ingredients which can't be done in parallel because you haven't figured out the timing yet, and eat it up in 15 minutes after 5 hours of work.

I know a couple where the girl makes meals exactly like op pic and the dude literally eats noodles on crumpet, fridge raiders in pot noodle and hotdog on bread with butter and ketchup.
