I think their site just isn't super stable.

I'm hoping he doesn't go for an all-in-one router where the devices hang off router ports but a proper router->pair of switches->hosts with redundant pathing. Ideally a pair of 10G switches, but 10G and then a 1G for just redundancy works too. Maybe use the existing router as a warm backup/OOB access until he can afford a second full-size router for redundancy.
