Those subscriber/view counts make Matt Jarbo look like a viral sensation. It's only made sadder when you consider how successful he used to be, and made sadder still when you consider the fact that he chose this descent into irrelevancy by taking a stand on an issue barely anyone cares about, and one that could never affect him personally.

Imagine being a successful, middle aged man with a respectable TV career, and deciding to throw that all away because you've chosen some pathetic TERF/troon Twitter war as the hill you wish to die on, and then having absolutely nothing to show for it in the end.

Initially the streams weren't all about trans issues, he did a couple on writing, story structure etc.

At the end of the day joining a lesbian dating app, using a picture with a typical tranny pose, was funny.

The fact that whoever runs the dating app obviously lost their shit and have declared they're going to try and get him banned from Substack makes it even funnier.

The counterargument is that both Father Ted and Black Books benefitted from co-writers (Arthur Mathews and Dylan Moran respectively), and that The IT Crowd is derivative of Black Books. It still doesn't alter the fact that (a) Glinner was involved with all three of these shows and (b) all three shows are hilarious.

That's the saddest part. Imagine going from being one of the most well-loved comedy writers on British TV to disgraced troon-baiting Twatterati. Give it 10 more years and he'll probably be incapable of saying little more than "FECK!", "ARSE!", "DRINK!" and "GIRLS!".

He's been a has-been for ages. All of his solo projects since The IT Crowd have tanked.
