GLITCH Productions - From the guys that brought you the Super Mario 64 bloopers

I've wathced it a week ago and kinda liked it. But the thing that bothers me most about this show is how much senseless violence it has and ,more importantly, how it treats it. It feels like every single character in it as an actual psychopath and probably not just the characters. Here's one example.

>a kid gets fucking shot in the face like it's a cartel execution
>drops dead next to his buddies
>his fellow classmate loots his corpse and gives the loot to his killer
>his body is just left there and life goes on

And if you look closely, the guy's corpse is a Peter Griffin meme. So apparently the authors thought that this scene is hillarious and we are supposed to laugh. Idk, maybe they laughed at this scene too.
Maybe I'm overthinking this, but I can't bring myself to feel anything for these characters after shit like this.
When watching the series it seemed pretty explicit that murder drones is very much a parody of the horror genre with psychopathic robots. I actually liked it more than I thought I would and the "senseless violence" seemed pretty on point for what they were going for. Its also just robots being murdered, so I honestly don't give that much of a shit about them being ripped to shreds.

I guess its just different strokes for different folks though.

If you look at it as "Grasshopper Manufacture made a fucked up version of one of those afternoon block shows on Cartoon Network circa 2008/9" it makes more sense

Since this thread has mostly been dominated by TADC discussion until now: What does everyone think of Murder Drones?
Flawed but I don't exactly hate it. Though the pacing is way too fast. It feels like everything is happening way too quickly. That's the short answer. If you want the autistic answer then keep reading.

It also seems like it's going to try and be one of those "DEEP LORE" type shows where you have to pay attention to bullshit in the background just to know what's going on. Some people might be fine with that but I fucking despise that kind of story telling in shows.
Like okay, I don't mind shit like Dark Souls where you have to go looking for the lore, reading item descriptions and all that. But the difference is Dark Souls is a video game. That kind of story telling doesn't really work in my opinion in a show. And even if you didn't go looking for it you at least had a basic understanding of what was going on. Whereas with Murder Drones I'm still not sure what the angle is meant to be.
Is the solver the villain? Is it actually the humans? What does the solver even want? ect. Maybe they're just building up to it, I don't know. They did imply during the big livestream that there will probably be a season 2.

Though I will say the pacing is definitely the biggest issue thus far. Again everything is going by way too quickly. I also feel like V dying completely fell flat for me because of this. Or at least it was one of the main reasons. But there are layers to the issue.
1. Way too early to kill off a major character, even if they're probably just going to bring her back with the cloning bullshit introduced in the same episode.
2. We barely know shit about V other than the fact she's an absolute psycho. No seriously, maybe it's just because I'm not a Tumblr user but given the show makes it pretty clear the robots are alive, can feel pain and are in general very human like V being extra sadistic makes her extra unlikable.
But even putting those feelings aside, onto
3. They wasted the perfect chance to show us more of what V and N's previous relationship was like and perhaps what she was like before she became a disassembly drone. (Considering it's very heavily implied their psychotic nature is brought on by being transformed into killing machines they could at least get me to pity the psycho robots if nothing else.) but instead they opt to focus on N and V herself is out of commission for pretty much the entire episode except for like 30 seconds of screen time they ultimately amount to nothing.

I think another reason why they're rushing the plot is because of how long it takes to make an episode as well as how expensive they are to make. Not sure what the studio's budget is but I recall it being mentioned somewhere a single episode of MD takes around like 2 thousand dollars or something to make. All I can think is maybe they're trying to not blow all their cash by moving the plot along as quickly as possible.
At first people might not see this due to the long wait between each episode and the anticipation and all that but I guarantee you once everything is said and done and people go back to rewatch the series the first thought is gonna be "Wow, this is going way too fast." at least I hope it'll be.

Tl;dr: It's alright, but definitely has pacing issues.

maybe it's just because i'm overly worried about shit like this but any time i read things like this my first thought is 'so you're a pedophile then'

Well, gooseworx is a tranny, so child grooming wouldn't be out of the question for someone of his ilk...and a show whose visual design is tailor made for spergs is the perfect vehicle with which to do it. I sense propaganda coming over the horizon...

P.S. I would still fuck the clown girl. Only good thing from this shit.

I will admit I actually didn't even know Gooseworx was a tranny. Probably because I never really followed them before Glitch.

Probably also because unlike so many other troons they seem to at least make an effort to sound female. Instead of just using their fucking man voice still despite apparently being a woman now. So I can at least give them that.

A bit of sperging but it really does annoy me when they pretend to be women but don't even make any effort to look or sound like women. Like, nigger you might as well just say you're a man who likes to wear dresses if you're not even gonna put the effort in.

Are we forgetting that he has a head drilling fetish? Or was it disproven or something
Don't they have a vore fetish too? I swear I remember some talk about people finding some hidden vore art by Goose or something. Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else? Something about a second twitter account that they purged or something?
Again I might be misremembering. I think it was talked about on 4chan or something? Or at least that's where the information came from, from what I recall based on the people I saw discussing it.

Okay fuck it. I hate to double post but it's been bugging me ever since I first saw it so I have to ask.

Why the fuck does Doll speak russian while everyone else speaks english? It's very strange to me. And nobody else brings it up or goes like "Huh wow, kind of weird that she speaks russian and nobody else does." and I know it's probably because they're robots so they probably just understand multiple languages by default but it just seems like such an odd choice.
Is it supposed to be funny? If there is a lore reason for it I can't really figure out what it would be or if it would be worth taking seriously anyway.

From where I'm standing it just seems like a case of "lol isn't it so funny guiz that she speaks russian while everyone else speaks english? Ain't that just whacky?!"

I guess this might as well be considered a minor continuation of my earlier criticisms but here's another thing that bothers me about the show(Murder Drones) but also "Modern" writing in general. Now, there's nothing wrong with humor. Infact if it's written well and feels organic then it can work. But Murder Drones does it like so many other modern things where it feels like nothing is serious, but somehow still serious at the same time? You get this tonal whiplash where there's this serious threat going on but then something goofy happens totally ruining the mood.

I'm terrible at explaining it but it feels like nothing is taken seriously enough essentially. Or they're fucking schizophrenic or something where they flip flop between taking it seriously and not. Some of the humor doesn't really feel organic either because of this.
It feels like nothing can take itself seriously anymore, there always has to be forced humor. I miss when shows would play it straight instead of constantly doing "meta" humor. If the writers don't even take it seriously why the hell should I?

Don't they have a vore fetish too?

Yes.

the showhost is literally a floating pair of teeth with a tongue, its odd sidekick also has a giant pair of teeth, it licks puke from the floor and a giant Beetlejuice/Little Shop of Horrors monster eats one of the main characters. Couldn't be more blatant than that.

You're not the only one to have noticed this and have a problem with it. It's especially bad with superhero movies. To me it comes across as almost a form of insecurity - "See, we know the premise of heroes with superpowers is ridiculous and childish too! We're just having a bit of fun!", but then they also expect you to take the overarching plot threads (that span multiple movies) seriously.

It's like the Superhero genre is still over-correcting from Batman and Robin.

So in some more SMG4 related news, a new video got uploaded a couple days ago.

And it seems they re-casted Tari with another voice actress.

But the funny thing is... they pulled a Tara Strong and didn't even tell her original VA that she got replaced...

And unsurprisingly, they're getting tons of flack, including from another one of their own Voice Actors.

And now it seems people are finding some juicy information about how Glitch is actually run.
