GLITCH Productions - From the guys that brought you the Super Mario 64 bloopers

saw this curious gooseworx tweet, does this imply that episode 8, or at least its trailer is actually near now?, this guy is a showrunner in the same studio, so he definitely knows whats going on BTS right?, even if he has no practical involvement in the show at all

This sure would explain so much, considering how nowadays, any zoomer media (specially for teenagers) needs to be lore-filled piles of text, which can generate discussions and internet theories about said media.

There simply can't just be a funny show about vampire robots and violence, we need that eldritch horror maaaaan, we need to make things as complex as possible for the fanbase dude, we gotta generate attention, generate interaction. generate drama...
The funniest part of this is, the actual fanbase couldn't give less of a fuck about the lore of this show beyond

- "oh theres this solver thing thats gonna wreck shit or something"
- "oh the DD's used to be W before the solver did some spooky shit"
- "oh earth is gone and humanity has been extinct for a while now"
- "oh both Uzi and Doll's moms also have the freaky witch powers"

these relatively easy to get parts of the plot are basically the only things they acknowledge, they knew the lore is just kinda "there" in a way so they just go back to making fanworks and headcanons of the characters

That is the most unhinged way I’ve seen someone try to advertise their show.

Honestly I get it. I wish the lore was presented in a better more comprehensible manner. That and there's just not a lot to go off of. Hence why I kept mentioning before how fanworks flesh out the characters more than the official work has.

They even had a golden opportunity to try and salvage the rushed character development with Episode 5 they could have given us a better glimpse into the Disassembly Drone's past lives, could've shown us the previous relationship between N, J and V and the hints of N's romantic interest in V. Could've fleshed out Tessa more as a character, ect.

But instead they threw all of that away for... the more that I think about it, an episode that really doesn't tell us a whole lot of ANYTHING important beyond some bad shit happened on earth. The only two important events in all honesty were learning about Cyn's existence which didn't even need an entire episode for and the fact that Uzi is now N and V's admin. Oh and I guess the revelation that the Solver was manipulating them or trying to delete and or alter their memories, ect. But I think that was already inferred in previous episodes. This episode just made it blatantly obvious.

That's about it. I cannot for the life of me recall anything else from the episode that really mattered in the grand scheme of things. Imo they really shot themselves in the foot by choosing to have the episode focus soley on N and Uzi. I still believe Episode 5 was a huge fumble for them and was more or less their last chance to try and salvage things.

Announcement.png

There's supposed to be an announcement today.
Calling it now it's going to be fucking nothing once again, probably more merch shilling or something.

If it's actually news related to a show that isn't merch bullshit I'll fuck a dude. :lossmanjack:

For media with an autistic sperg fandom it's actually detrimental to have fleshed out characters. When you have characters that can be described in a just couple words it makes it easier for fans to make up their own shit. And then all that fan content makes the original look richer than it actually is. It's like a coloring book.
Adding a DEEP LORE as a bait for schizo theorists is also good.

Guess what?
It was merch shilling.
Gotta milk that cashcow
seen a fair share of tweets asking about md ep8 and people complaining about those complaining about lack of md update and while i can understand, not a word about ep8 beyond it being delayed and the way ep7 ended off doesn't make for the best pause between an episode
just saying...this is why you don't really do stuff like this because cliffhangers almost never make any fanbase happy and it would be very funny if TDC and MD fandoms went at each other's throats because of glitch's favoritism towards TDC

and regarding the mech itself, shit cost $15 for a single box and an entire set is like $120
i'm not much of a figure or collector in general at all but I feel like $120 could probably be used to buy one of those fancy figures that come with all sorts of possable actions and widgets
also this is only episode 2 and their already going all in with the merch shilling

From a business perspective, I don't even blame them doing this. It's not even just "money speaks", but the fact in how popular this whole show has gotten. My first contact with TADC (and I guess Glitch Studios as a whole) was walking in a third-country marketplace and seeing a bunch of these weird bootleg plushies of the characters, thinking "is this another indie horror game that I'm not aware about?" and they were everywhere! It was mostly caused by the content farms, but I never seen any other media having this much of an effect on the economy besides maybe Minecraft.

I'm not a merch guy myself too, but $120 for a whole set of 9 figurines seems about right. I won't even buy that or any of the individual boxes, but I also won't lie that I kinda wish I had that Gangle or Kinger figurine in my desk. (and I don't even like Gangle that much, just found the figurine that neat).
At least they're not funkos, and they don't even look that far from your average nendoroid tbh.

About time.png

Welp, we finally got SOMETHING at least. Though it's still not much since it's just the ending shot from Episode 7 so still nothing actually new but at least they finally acknowledged Murder Drones exists again.

Welp, I guess all the rumors about a Season 2 were bullshit. The description makes it sound like this is going to be the end.
Welp, at least I won't have to bother with Season 2 since it won't exist.
holy fucking shit LMAO I seriously did not expect them actually putting this series to rest for good right then and there, it feels so unfinished in its current state.

I may have not liked a lot of it but I always thought it just needed more runtime to actually sort this out, to make this actually decent but damn man, guess its over now.

Edit: Do you think this was cancelled?, maybe they didn't like how all over the place the whole script ended up being, so they said fuck it, scrap this, its better to start from scratch with a new show

That said, I hope Liam can still get a prosperous career after this find actually make something that could be good, I think he has potential

Can't say i'm surprised it ends here, a lot of people wanted a season 2 but I legit can't think of what could be done with a second season what isn't just an alternative what if that explores something else

wonder how the fans are coping rn

I'd honestly say more that Digital Circus likely got it soft cancelled, that show is just way more popular and received better and makes more money, it would make no sense from a business standpoint to do anything more with murder drones when the next big internet thing is right there and you can capitalize off of that as much as possible
i'm sure behind the scene issues likely contributed as well

they put themselves in a lose-lose situation because of the story, end it now and it feels extremely rushed, extend it to salvage it and they may just create more problems in a notoriously rickety ass plot, they probably thought its better to cut the losses now and focus on this circus show for the time being
wonder how the fans are coping rn
on the 4chan thread rn, they're mostly happy with it and say its better to end things on a good note
also makes me wonder if the rise of digital circus and how that's pretty much become glitch's token child series may of prompted them to end things here since it would make more sense logically to focus everything on that instead
I disagree, they can come back to make a season 2 of this if they wanted to, TADC has always been mentioned to be a one-time thing, most likely reason is they did not want to work on this show anymore

Kek, a good note?
Okay then. Personally I don't see this finale fixing it. There's still so many unanswered questions that there's no fucking way they're going to be able to satisfyingly answer in 20 minutes tops. Even if this was an extra long 60 minute special or something they'd still probably have to rush along to satisfyingly answer many of the lingering questions that loom over the series.

Part of why I originally believed the Season 2 rumor because there were just so many questions that I knew they were not going to be able to answer within 8 episodes in an acceptable manner.
  • We still don't know jack or shit about the Solver itself or it's origins, it's true nature.
  • What exactly happened to the earth and the other colonies Cyn was said to have also attacked.
  • Why Cyn even wants to destroy the universe in the first place. Though I don't think even Liam ever planned an answer for that one beyond "lol I'm evil."
  • Who the fuck was Tessa actually? Who were the Elliotts? What the fuck did they have to do with anything actually?
  • What about JCJenson? The company that designed the drones? There were all kinds of theories about how they were this Umbrella tier organization, just replace bio-engineering with the occult or something and they just stopped being relevant after like the 2nd episode?
  • And we still know absolutely nothing about the DD trio's past again Episode 5 was such a missed opportunity.

Some of these questions might get answered by the finale but definitely not all of them.

I dont think most of these were intended to be answered, arent unresolved questions that a staple of cosmic horror?

im gonna be honest with you lorefagging this show is kinda stupid

If you call Lorefagging wanting actually good writing then yes I am definitely lorefagging.
The show constantly fails to give the viewer much reason to care about the characters or the world itself and thus there aren't really any stakes for us to care about.
In fact a lot of the show commits the cardinal writing sin of simply going "Then this happens, and then this happens!" when it's supposed to go "This happens. But! Therefore, this happens."
Honestly though again my biggest gripe is we're not really given much reason to care about the characters, we still barely know them or their past beyond Uzi. Everything else is just fragmented bits and pieces.

Though maybe that's intentional. Maybe they're gonna do this the Bethesda way, we'll make the fans put our broken character writing back together for us! :story:

They can but I highly doubt they want to, hence series finale, yea they can but why would they? all the rewrites and stuff leads me to believe this show just had a messy behind the scenes and they likely want to be done with it and focus everything on TADC

Unresolved questions are a staple of cosmic horror but so is good writing, which murder drones doesn't have and it comes off as really bad
A good writer can get away with either but this doesn't have that at all, i don't even think it's lorefagging because what else can one do for this show? especially when said show throws away everything else in exchange for being lore driven
