Disaster Global Food Prices Rise For Third Straight Month, Fueling Instability Risks In Developing World - Here we go again boys

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) reported that global food prices increased for the third consecutive month in May. This rise was driven by higher prices for cereals and dairy products, which outweighed declines in sugar and vegetable oil prices. The re-acceleration of food price growth should be a cause for concern among policymakers.
The FAO Food Price Index, which tracks the international prices of a basket of globally traded food, averaged 120.4 in May, marking a .9% increase from its revised April level. Despite this rise, the index is still 3% lower than a year ago and 24.9% below its peak in March 2022. However, the index has reserved some losses over the past several months and turned higher.

The uptick in May was driven by cereal prices jumping 6.3% month-over-month due to growing concerns in key farming areas in northern America, Europe, and the Black Sea region. Dairy prices rose 1.8% from May to April, the FAO said.
Sugar prices dropped 7.5% monthly in May, and vegetable oil prices fell 2.4%.
The FAO warned, "The recent adverse weather conditions in the Black Sea region will likely result in a downgrade in world wheat production, a possibility not yet reflected in the forecast."
The bigger story here is global food prices are beginning to rise once again. This is potentially catastrophic for emerging market economies where currencies are moving lower and, inversely, food prices are moving higher. Folks in these countries have to allocate higher percentages of their incomes to food purchases, and the increase in that only produces financial stress. In return, higher food prices increase the risk of social instability

Look into water filtration and chickens. They'll be your best friends in these unstable times.

Learning how to fast will help alot too.
Some places like Britain ask for registration of Chickens due " bird flu" to put them down whenever happens nevermind its spread by every bird.

The threshold for mandatory registration will be reduced from 50 birds to 1, which means all poultry and captive bird keepers will be legally required to register their birds.

Sidenote quails are not that noisy and they don't need that large cage similar with doves ( but only have doves if you are rural the city ones are chemical tasting cancers)

Same with Brazil with pigs. Used to be the standard in raising a pig at your house to feed veggie and fruit scraps which in turn would make them delicious after slaughtering. But after the meat industry there complained, they made up some BS rule to prevent your pleb from owning a pig.

Underground farming is going to be a thing.

I am guessing everyone in the rural areas and favelas ignores the rule?
And they only fuck with the elderly?

Price inflation isn’t that bad when you don‘t factor food, shelter, and energy costs.

So the chain places are now nearly the same price as the much higher quality independent places with fucking addition of price for fucking CHEESE?? Madness.
Five Guys specifically is more expensive, you'll get a burger a side and a drink at a good independent place for a similar price or less than their regular burger.

Plenty of mid independent places are hovering around McDonalds prices they can be a mixed bag in terms of taste and quality though rarely that much worse than mcdicks.

Water filtration seems like a pain in the ass to set up in a DIY manner though.
Considering the layering of rocks to filter water.. also with boiling water. There's of course the condensation method as well.

Really depends on your source of water. Beats dying of thirst. There's of course raising fruits and veggies that can hold a shitton of water. Cucumbers come to mind.

I have a jug with a charcoal filter but I hear the best way to do it is the reverse condensation method, which is what seems like a huge pain to set up.

I'm mostly talking about making tap water drinkable here, not literally having no water at all. If you're dying of thirst xenoestrogens and microplastics seem like they aren't that bad.

I forgot to add. Cacti holds alot of water as well. That said, you do have a point with nearly no drinkable water. Considering the amount of contaminations that make it into tap water. Such as Monsato's Pesticide which is known to cause cancer.

I know there's an underground spring on my property that I've been tempted to convert into a well, but aside from that it seems it's really hard to get non-contaminated water. Isn't rainwater also not safe?

Depends on where you live. If you are not surrounded by heavy industry, then it should be fine after filtering. If you are... then its unsafe.

All those smoke stacks can contaminate the clouds shitting out rain. In worse cases, ends up becoming acid rain.

Before or after Taco Bell wins the fast food wars?

I remember when we all laughed at what a fake and gay future Demolition Man had. Nobody's laughing anymore.
My money's on Carl's Jr absorbing all the other restaurants and food biz.

Also... political correctness gone wrong, human interaction being corporatized (psychic make-out devices in the movie but today that's how companionship has a price tag on it and almost no return), pussified people to the point outsiders take full advantage of them (Canada and Bongistan comes to mind), throw in eat ze bugs and own nothing, that's going to lead people into the path of indoor/underground farming as well as the DiY path.

Yeah. We're on track to a Demolition Man future for the West. With any country not contaminated with the globohomo virus doing far better than the niggercattle occupying the parody of the West.

I know rat burgers are a staple food with the underground economy as rats breed quickly and have little issue with feeding, but you can get much more creative with the types of animals you can breed and the plants you can grow. Also mushrooms.

On the plus side, dystopias always get crappy cops because they have very little to no motivation to do their job. After all, why care about random shlubs when there is nothing in it for you except the badge and the power trip?

The problem with chickens is trying to keep them alive long enough for you to eat them. I had to nix my plan for a chicken run here at the Fort when I realized that I would be feeding every animal within a couple mile radius long before I would be feeding myself. Then I realized that to stop this would take the Fort Knox of chicken coops. Figure in inflation and I said fuck it. I am planning a "victory garden" though still;.

It's not very industrialized where I live but I'm still a bit gunshy about it.

Also if we're living in Demolition Man can I atleast get 1993 era Sandra Bullock? She was mad cute back then.

Always try the local joints - its hit or miss, but even when they miss its basically mcdonalds at the same price these days. Meanwhile, the hits will make you absolutely never want chain joints again. Its basically a no-lose gamble in the beginning, and guaranteed wins once you have a feel for who's good. Only thing you lose out on is most are holes in the wall without drive throughs.
