The best place in Maine is mount desert island/Acadia National Park. Lots to see and hike on the island and it doesn’t take more than half an hour to drive from one end to the other.
Unless they’re digging up Route 3 like they are this summer. It’s been disgustingly humid too, so you sweat buckets climbing mountains even though the temperature itself isn’t that high.
i went pre season just as bar harbor was opening for business. there was construction but it was manageable compared to the rest of new england. lots of repainting of buildings in town to get ready for the summer too. also just back from climbing mountains in nh, the humidity is real.
Oh come on, as any true new englander knows, they'll never NOT be doing road work up in that end of the state. There's no escaping it and in the 20-something years I've been going to MDI, I cant remember a time where they weren't doing road work during the drive up.
