Going to college? - You gonna get raped.

Honestly I think that you are probably more right than many believe. I think that public accusations are likely false but I still think that rape is a serious problem, just one that is overreacted to and one that has a bunch of political baggage attached to it that is more important than the actual issue. It is very sad that feminists are making every rape into a political case because it is interfering with real justice
I wasn't aware of any public accusations on my campus ever, it was just stories
Another time, I had a roommate who had dropped out/taken leave a semester before. I had gone to a party and was telling her about it, when she informed me she wasn't welcome at that fraternity.
Why? She had apparently had sex with several pledges in a doorway. But she was blacked out and couldn't remember it.
Even back then, before all this campus rape stuff came up as an issue I was incredibly disturbed by her story. She never called it rape but it really, really, really seemed like rape. And she had dropped out soon after and wasnt doing very well...

If you are going to college, no fucking shit you are gonna get raped. Financially raped that is. Even the "cheaper" schools are raping everyone financially these days.
I read a study a looong time ago where they compared the grief people felt after tragic events, like rape or losing a family member, to the grief people felt after losing a certain sum of money. That way they could equate tragedy with monetary loss. I forget what the amount was for rape, but I'm guessing the average college student gets raped like 5 times.

Once a semester, 4.5 years on average. 9 times. Extra if you take summer classes or study abroad.

I come from a pretty wealthy family, so college prices aren't a problem. My father just gets worried that I'm going to get raped if I go to a major university. He wants me in a small college. :P
Small colleges actually have a bigger rape problem!

(honestly, who looks at an icon of a dog and think "it's got a penis and it's going to fuck me?")

When I was younger I went to a few Rutgers parties and they were all sketchy and scary as fuck, not surprised they are on the list lol.

Sketchy and scary in what way? This is interesting. I remember bumbling into a "college party" that some pretty girls my friend and I met at a bar told us about, they claimed that there was free beer at the party so we jumped at that opportunity. Immediately the girls who brought us to the party ditched us so we hooked up with some much less attractive girls that were already present. Within 5 minutes of being there, a fight broke out. Not really a fight, some frat douchebag blindsided another frat douchebag and he literally told his douchey friend "I owned him". It was fucking horrendous. We left after having 3 or 4 free beers with the ugly girls.

One of the pretty girls who told us about the party gave us the backstory, a sorority organized the party in their sorority house, which they explained wasn't allowed to be on the campus because of "hazing problems" the university had with the sorority in the past. The girl was very adamant in wanting to join this sorority who tortured its members for some reason. College is fucking weird.

Agreed. Bookstores rape you financially. And with my experience, when you try to sell your books back to the bookstore, either you sell it successfully and get some money back on it, or they don't buy it because they don't take the previous editions, and you're left with a textbook you're never gonna read again. Plus, you're out $100.

Even with postage, you almost always do better selling back textbooks on Amazon or eBay. Also, if you have time, there are morons who just throw them out. It's one of the rare opportunities to make $50/hr dumpster diving.

I've sold a couple of books on Amazon. Never considered searching for scrapped textbooks. I might take a gander around the back of my campus's bookstore next time I'm in the area. Thanks!
