Gold and Silver Community - Dollar Collapse Fearmongering, Tinfoil, Scams, and More

Does this guy count? I read a book by him once, where he basically went 'THE GREEDY GOVERNMENTS ARE GONNA CREATE A DYSTOPIAN FUTURE WITH THIS ONE CURRENCY THAT NOBODY BUT NATIONS CAN USE, AND THE ONLY THINGS THAT KEEP ME FROM BEING A GOVERNMENT SLAVE IS THAT I OWN LAND, ILLEGAL GOLD, ART, AND I HAVE MONSTER BOXES'.

Yes. Jim Rickards is another one. Look into his past with Long Term Capital Management and how that firm blew up back in the late 90s. The guy's another joke.

The precious metal spergs always rant about how it's unable to be manipulated like Federal Reserve Notes (or any other currency notes like the Euro, Yen, etc.) because it has to be mined out of the ground, but the truth is that the price is heavily manipulated but the price is kept low, to make the currency look better. That makes those metals cheaper to buy but us PM spergs won't mention that.

The truth is, when the happening happens a shoebox full of Krugerrands isn't gonna save you anymore than that dust coated AR you keep in your closet.

Bump because I just remembered this really lulzy website called The Economic Collapse Blog. I'm surprised it's still around but there's lots of crazy tinfoil on it.

He always does some really spergy lists with tons of fearmongering in it. Zero Hedge I just remembered about too. I think both websites have a lot of potential. Thoughts?

At least the spergs who actually have the metals in hand have something that could potentially be worth something, mayb not what they paid for it but something of a varying value. The imbeciles who buy the gold "shares" are the real entertainment. There was some calculation done showing that there would have to be around 300% more gold on the entirety of the planet to pay off all the shares sold.

Basically a ponzi scheme for the paranoid.

My dad was telling me about one of the schemes that got mailed to him a bit ago. It was telling him he could get a silver bar for only $19.99 plus shipping and handling! wow He was laughing as he told me this because that advertised special price was for a 1/4 oz. bar, and that price was 2 or 2.5 times the price of 1 oz. of silver. Sucker born every minute.

Edit: the people who fall for these things are probably the same ones who bought the "Obama Commemorative quarters" which were ordinary quarters with a sticker of Obama on them, again only $19.99 plus shipping and handling. Y'know if you have absolutely no morals it seems to be easy to make money.

If you always predict a financial collapse every week, eventually there will be one and then you can claim you predicted it.

That's pretty much what Lyndon LaRouche has been doing for the last 50 years or so. "Self-taught Economist" indeed.

This is really ironic considering that many gold bugs are also opponents of fractional-reserve banking.

I've run into some of these nutters on craigslist. Saw a cool old car I was interested in buying a few years ago, so I emailed the guy. Told him I had cash and could be there that day to get it. Fucker writes back with a chart he made up of cash values, and their equivalent weights in gold, silver, etc. and basically rambled on about Obama somehow magically devaluing money or something, and that I could use his chart to gather enough metals to equal the price of the car. I suggested maybe he could just take my cash and buy his own gold or whatnot. I never heard back from him. Same thing happened one time I attempted to buy an old snowmobile. It was $300, reasonable enough. Guy sent me some value chart of which metals added up to that, and a list of coins, silverware, and such he would also accept. Absolutely NO cash accepted. As well as a bunch of links about "homesteading" and the "Obamapocalypse". Fuck these idiots.

It's about as bad as a friend of mine, seems to believe the end is coming, but rather than prepare or learn survival skills or stock food or anything, he figures just having a gun is enough. And that maybe he'll use that to get gold and such. Guy and his wife are both 300+ lbs and as unathletic as they come, with two young children. But gold and a gun are going to elevate them to wasteland god status. People always ask me what I'll do in a survival situation, and it's just bizarre because I'm an outdoorsy type guy, can hunt, fish, camp, and grow food and all, but apparently that's all wrong, because I guess post-apocalypse we'll all just be buying food at the supermarket with gold or some shit. It amazes me how many normal people seem to be longing for some sort of Mad Max style future, but still go shopping at walmart, and think people will just be throwing food and water their way to get some gold.

If dollars are so worthless, then why would he care what amount of what metals would add up to $300?

The very fact that he denominated his request in dollars, even if it was to be satisfied by some other means of payment, means he was operating on fiat money. I.e. he admits he's full of bullshit.

You can't reason with people that have put it into their minds that gold and silver will always be valuable because they've always been valuable.

For a short or long term investment they're fine. I wouldn't put all my money into precious metals but as a part of your portfolio they can do the job. But if you're hoarding all this because you fear an economic collapse then I want you to take a look at Zimbabwe. They had an economic collapse due to runaway inflation and Mugabe stealing everybody's money. Their solution to just print more money really fucked them over but that's another story. What happened? They adopted the American Dollar as currency and have been running ever since. If it happened here we'd adopt the Euro, Pound, Yen, Yuan or whatever else is available and strong. My money would be on the Canadian dollar as they're really close, our biggest trading partner and they still hold one of the top 10 currencies in the world.

But gold and silver are only precious so long as we say they are. Come the collapse of the government and anarchy rules I'd much rather have a lot of guns, ammo and supplies than a bunch of worthless metal.

Or like the Kosovo adopted the Euro as their currency.

I'm not watching this whole thing but there you go. Rawdogletard warning of some economic collapse apparently.

Just hoard copper. Copper is actually useful as fuck at least. Theres a reason why people pay crack addicts who will strip abandoned houses of it.

That's also the same reason that junk dealers have in recent years been put on absurdly stringent requirements to get ID from everyone who sells them so much as a crumpled aluminum can.

These goldbugs (cute sobriquet for these gold freaks) really have no clue. If the shit hits the fan (very unlikely), you'll need fuel, food, guns, tools to use the former and knowledge how to get shit done, not some fancy shiny metal.
