TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Chinese netizens on Wednesday (May 13) discovered that YouTube is automatically blocking the Chinese term "communist bandit" within 15 seconds.

On Wednesday, human rights activist Jennifer Zeng posted a video of a person entering the epithet "communist bandit" (共匪) in the comment box beneath a YouTube video. Within 15 seconds after posting the comment, it mysteriously and inexplicably disappears.

The term is an anti-communist insult which was first coined by the Kuomintang in the early 20th Century and was used extensively by the Chiang Kai-shek (蔣介石) government during the martial law era in Taiwan. The Chinese character "共" (gong), is short for 共產主義 (gongchan zhuyi, communism), while the character "匪" means "bandit," and was used extensively during China's Warlord Era.

Taiwan News typed the term in Chinese characters in the comment box in a few different YouTube videos and indeed within 15 seconds, the comment had been automatically excised. It is not clear why YouTube is automatically censoring this word.

YouTube has recently started to demonetize content that is critical of the Chinese Communist Party and China's handling of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Many people have tried it, even if they just write : 共匪 in the comment. that comment will be deleted right away.

I want to know why this word is a forbidden word to use? this is not even a swear word. Are we not allowed to anti-Chinese communist party now?

I've noticed this myself happening. Generally when I mention "woke" or something along those lines, my comment gets removed as soon as it appears.

I don't think this is limited solely to the East.

It could be either YouTube or the content creator itself.
The content creator has a section in his account settings where he can block words only for his channel. Maybe the content creator put "woke" in that section.

Well, beloved lider Susan has to work hard for all those juicy Corporate / MSM / Chinese Shekels. Just wait how hard they'll come down at anybody who's not riding their progressive tails.
I'll assume that will start in mid September and will end November 3rd.

Well, beloved lider Susan has to work hard for all those juicy Corporate / MSM / Chinese Shekels. Just wait how hard they'll come down at anybody who's not riding their progressive tails.

Interesting. Though what is strange is, it's happened with channels that aren't woke too. Sometimes with topics or opinions that aren't even controversial. And when they disappear, I simply rewrite it with slightly different wording or length and then they stay. So I have no idea, honestly.

Sounds like typical Joo-tube to me.
 
I don't know why people are shocked.
We have a pandemic created by a purposefully leaked CCP Virus, to which we shut down our economy so that nurses et al don't get overwhelmed (which never happens) and instead, we have these unburdened nurses using a Chinese propaganda platform shoving their fat asses in your face over just how unburdened they are.
Then, Susan says she's banning any talk of treatments or natural therapy on YT. Recovering the rest of the world would be at the determent to China.
Then YT makes it verboten to post anything anti-CCP.

Really isn't a hard thing to work out.

The google monopoly needs to be shattered. The free market solution to Youtube censorship is dead- Google quashes all attempts to compete with Youtube before they can get big enough to matter, thus giving them total control over the public sphere of conversation.

I hate the idea of federal involvement in shit in general, but if there were ever a time for the feds to nut up and accomplish something useful this would be it.
