Whoever was the artist behind these covers for Madeleine L'Engle's books (sadly, doesn't look like An Acceptable Time ever hired the same artist).

Always loved the simplicity of the original Blood Meridian cover.

Ok this is a very uhh subjective good cover I guess, but this single book cover was THE driving force for my desire to learn to read. It was in the shelf just where lil' baby Battlecruiser could reach and look, and I really really needed to know what is the story behind it. I credit this cover for the ability to completely clown on everyone else once I entered elementary school readingwise.
