Defunctland: He makes videos about the history of defunct amusement parks and amusement park rides. They're super informative, and can reveal a lot about the business rivalries and schemes going on behind the scenes.

Nerd City: Not really sure if his videos count as commentary, but he covers some of the same topics other commentary channels cover, but better. High quality, well-edited, and entertaining.

Historia Civilis for history, a lot of Roman content :heart-full:, but he just makes good videos all around.

Internet Comment Etiquette with Erik, brave enough to battle the government to warn us about the Cloud people, and teach us how to leave comments with proper etiquette on the Internet.

Dead Sound is an astonishingly creative and talented man, he's made some really neat animations. This one introduced me to him:

His girlfriend has nice tits.

Louis Rossmann is probably one of the best YouTube channels I've seen tech wise. He's a MacBook repairman who repairs MacBooks with board level repair for less than what the Apple stores charge, and he also calls out Apple's bullshit quite a lot.

A similar channel but with cars is Rich Rebuilds, a channel about a guy who buys up salvage Tesla cars from insurance auctions and rebuilds them, as Tesla constantly denies selling parts or letting customers work on their own cars, unless Tesla does it themselves. Furthermore Tesla will deny service to those who repair their cars themselves. Vice did a good documentary style video on his channel as well.

He also, like Louis Rossmann, shits all over Tesla for their Apple-tier policies:

The VideOandA channel. Because they put all the clips to the radio shows and make it watchable.

Opie ruins part of that video with those endless soundbites though.

Chris Ray Gun and Internet Etiquette are horrifyingly cringy and stupid. Both of these guys worship Maddox, support censorship and the latter screeches about Gomald Gumpf and "dogwhistling" every other minute.

If Resetera worships a person you can rightfully just write them off.

Have some LindyBeige. A man that obsesses about things in a way that involves learning and creativity and a guy that forms opinions before they become trends.

Brexit in 2009? A kickstarter that actually delivered on its product? A history video that actually cites sources? Discussing hard topics like holocaust with nuance? A rare type of person.

CEASE YOUR INVESTIGATIONS

Here’s a channel that’s been around for some time
Used to be called Sam kempo, now goes by miss murder

Techmoan's one of those channels that's so good, I watch absolutely everything he releases, even the long dashcam ones for cameras I'd never even consider buying.

Here's the video that got me into his channel:

I went in not even giving a flying fuck about vinyl records, but now I know more about the care, maintenance, and what to look for in one than anyone short of an enthusiast. He also rekindled my love for VHS tapes.

Speaking of tech, another good one is TechAltar, a German guy who talks about the tech industry from a business perspective, and explains some of the more bizarre decisions tech companies make. Calm and easy-to-understand voice, well researched, no gimmicks, and no biases whatsoever.

He makes some of the best, most nuanced videos revolving around videogames.

He was MeToo'd in 2017. I remember there was some gloating about how an SJW Polygon journalist got MeToo'd, though I did not know anything about him then.

A year ago I saw his Tetris video on youtube and skeptically clicked it. It's good. He has a ton of good shit.

Here is his newest video hot off the presses:

Also check out this article mad that he is still 'in games'. I guess the author would prefer twitter and YouTube ban him because he got nudes from an 18 year old girl once?

I'm updating my list since someone from outside the Farms told me I have a good eye for YouTube channels so this time I'm gonna add a few more I enjoy to watch. I'm gonna skip the +2 million subs channels because everybody knows about them. Here are a few of my favorites.

  • Alien Theory - If you're an Alien fan (as in the universe created by Ridley Scott), this guy is a fucking authority on the matter. Making videos nobody asked for about theories, plotlines, stories and everything Alien related. 155K subs.

  • Brummies Outdoors - A British couple and their kid go magnet fishing to the super polluted canals of England and retrieve all kinds of shit from absolute disgusting murky waters. What I would probably be doing if I were a Redneck. 23K subs.

  • Civvie 11 - I know there are a few Civvie fans around the forum so they know what I'm talking about. No bullshit reviews of games and movies. A god relaxing voice and full blown 30+ boomer opinions. 92K subs but he deserves so many more.

  • Cybershell - This guy is autism incarnate and he knows it. Probably THE authority of everything Sonic, from the comics, to the games, to the arcades and much more. I'm convinced he is (was? is he even alive?) a Kiwi. 72K subs. Impressive given he published his last video a year ago.

  • Crowbcat - YouTube Poop with social commentary but videogame related. His E3 Supercuts are the highlight of the channel but his upload schedule is a fucking disaster. 786K is more that he deserves.

  • danooct1 - Probably you're gonna find this one super boring but give the guy a try. He test computer viruses from different eras as well as some made by fans. If you like that kind of stuff, I recommend this channel. 236K subs is kind of surprising.

  • E;R - Super misogynistic nazi shitlord who also happens to be right most of the time. He does rants about cartoons like a fucking incel and it's entertaining af. 316k alt-righters think just like me.

  • Fredrik Knudsen - How can I NOT recommend the guy who makes the Down the Rabbit Hole videos? He's a super curious weirdo hat plays the Hurdy Gurdy and makes god tier documentaries about the kid of stuff we like to discuss here in the Farms. 513K and I consider it underrated.

  • GameHut - An actual Sega Genesis dev talks about the games he helped develop. Oddities about the Genesis and Boomer nostalgic tears. 115K subs.

  • ICARUSLIV3S - OG Doom Mod reviewer... You can't get more niche that that. If you're looking for a particular Doom mod, this guy probably already reviewed it. He can be kind of a dumbass sometimes but it's very watchable. 58K subs is on par for his channel.

  • JustMyFavStrangeMusic - Ok, listen. This one is not for everyone. This is a Russian DoomerWave music channel. It means he makes depressing Russian Vaporwave videos. 7K subs, probably most of them killed themselves a long time ago.

  • Kinamania - Who doesn't know this guy? He is Russian, he had a bootleg communist regime-approved NES and failed genes. He does old game reviews and stories about his up and coming in a post-Perestroika Russia so you better learn some Ruski and start watching. 250K subs. Get him to 500K so we can get him a new wheelchair.

  • Kruggsmash - This guy is an entertainer, a story-teller of olde living in modern times and also a mega nerd about Dwarf Fortress. He'll create a mega-epic tale of survival and drunken small people based on a 25 min game of ASCII geekness. Super recommended. 54K and deserving of so many more.

  • Lectures by Walter Lewin. They will make you ♥ Physics. - The name says it all although it won't make you LOVE it, they're good lectures. 404K, 3/4 of them are his students.

  • MrSolidSnake745 - Makes music with floppy disks and other electrical oddities. 139K people who are tired of music not making their ears bleed.

  • Nexpo - It's like if /x/ made a YouTube channel and was actually good. Besides the whole "creppypasta" side of the vids, they're also competent journalism. Well deserved 816K subs.

  • PolyMatter - Info-graphs galore about a whole bunch of subjects. Well presented and precise, non-biased information. 875K subs.

  • SethEverman - This guy. This fucking guy. He makes videos about... music. And he's bald. And a huge N64 fan. Just check it out. Broke the 2.5 Million mark but I'm adding him because I still can't believe it.

  • StopDrop&Retro - Debunking dumb tech-related Kickstarters and reviewing trash from SilkRoad. Kinda like Thunderf00t but without being a massive tool. 64K subs.

  • Voultar - Retro console modding and restoration. A fucking Samurai with the soldering gun. He can be kind of a prick sometimes but his vids are mostly good. 64K subs.

If you're into space related news, games and so on, you can't do much better than Scott Manley.
Vintage Space is a channel about early space flight and the history around it. Very informative and succinct.

Since I am a huge fan of KSP, I also enjoy content by Matt Lowne.
When it comes to games in general, SovietWomble is pretty entertaining, too, but he takes forever to put stuff online.

MrSolidSnake and Civvie are fucking awesome and I'm glad they finally got shoutouts here.
  • No NileRed mention yet? He's by far my favorite of the chemistry experiment channels, between the enormous amount of care he takes in walking through and explaining his processes, his production values, and simply being fun to listen to.
  • 8-bit Music Theory is pretty self explanatory - all about video game music and how music theory is used and applied in it, pretty straightforward and informative.
  • Junkie XL does lots of in-the-studio videos, mainly walk-throughs of his process and technical/compositional advice. The guy's latest series has him going through his work for Mortal Engines and Elita: Battle Angel.
  • Scruffy is a composer who mainly uploads arrangements and concept videos, but every now and then puts out videos discussing sound design that I always find very insightful.
  • And topping it off with SimpleFlips and Grayfruit because they're two streaming personalities I can watch without feeling like I'm suffering (and I've incidentally found good music through them).
