The hit piece from an Approved Source™ allowed Snoot Game to return to the Wikipedia article:

I'm kind of annoyed how much the article glosses over Snoot Game just dismissing it as a bad faith game meant to troll poor innocent KO_OP, it does what most parodies struggle to do and stand on it's own merits and can be enjoyable even for someone who doesn't know its a parody.
Goodbye Volcano High is a parody of Snoot Game.

Looks like we got another article, this time claiming cavemananon "stole" assets from GVH to make Snoot game (as if you can steal assets from a game that hasn't gotten leaked, let alone been made). How much the devs want to throw the towel and are going to use the "ohhhh the harassment" excuse so they can cancel the game without getting shit from Sony?
From the KotakuAU comment section, News.com.au (Owned by 'based' Fox News mogul Rupert Murdoch), seems to have copied or at least been inspired by Kotaku's article on it.

Saying someone stole your assets is a pretty big claim and whether they're using them to make money or not sounds like a perfect chance to issue a cease and desist order, maybe KO_OP hasn't done so because this is a load of horse shit. Though on the topic of KO_OP and Sony there is no way they're getting out of this deal, even a half finished mess will give them some return and something is better than nothing.
They filed a fraudulent dmca to itchio and they complied because it's run by fucking niggers.

You mean faggots, right? Cause they love it when people post gay furry visual novels, they're a dime a dozen on the fucking site. Snoot Game would've been perfect for the site, too, cause it has queer characters! On the topic of stolen assets, how can you steal assets to a game that has never been published? I get stealing characters, but that still falls under fair use as a parody, which it is.

That was the whole problem behind Aliens: Colonial Marines and the misuse of their assets of an unpublished game that got Randy Pitchford in trouble.

You can steal assets to a game that has not been published if there's copyright stuff existing and a paper trail. Snoot Game visually does not look like a parody, the characters look identical. Them's Fighting Herds ran into the same issue and had to visually change all the Ponies into their own original characters so they were visually distinct so they wouldn't get sued.

If Snoot Game had Fang and co. look visually distinct from GBVH, then that would clearly be under parody because they would not look the same.

I would bet somebody from Sony's finance department has been asking hard questions about where the money is going. So they need to damage control why they have sat in that discord and done nothing for 1 1/2 years. The stolen assets thing is just a cover, anon's brain broke the devs in to a depressive spiral and now they need a scapegoat. It is just laying the ground work for a defection of criticism as to why the game sucks ass. When they put it out. I would bet everything i own, that they are scrambling to get a build that mostly works so they can send it out to be on PSN and Steam.

That’s copyright infringement, not stolen assets. Stolen assets means they used the physical work done by KO_OP (code, CG models, textures, backgrounds, dialogue, etc.) and left a paper trail.

In Them’s Fighting Herds’ case, MLP:FIM is the property of Hasbro and media DHX and Lauren Faust was the creator. but as you said, all they needed to do was change the designs because (again) that’s copyright infringement, not stolen assets. If deep within the code there was provable remnants left of the game using code that Faust‘s team made under DHX or an affiliated third-party, that‘s stolen assets. Not only would the game be canned immediately, but Hasbro would have ample grounds to sue.

Aliens: Colonial Marines‘ case is just wrong, though. Embezzlement =/= stolen assets. Financial assets from the publisher, yes, but not what you, and of course KO_OP, are claiming; every asset in Snoot Game was created from the ground up, even the (slight) redesigns of the main cast. We know this because A.) they showed this dev process on 4chan leading up to its release, and B.) the game is open-source. You can literally download it and look for yourself if you don’t believe me.

It’s why all that was sent was a cease-and-desist to itch.io, why Snoot Game’s site is still up, and why Sony hasn’t (and won’t unless they’re really fucking stupid) taken legal action and all of these puff pieces are being made instead; the stolen asset claim is bunk, and since the game isn’t being sold (all money they make is through donations directly to the studio themselves, not the game), it’s legally considered a fan-game.

Yeah haha itch.io is seething and what not, but the game is infringing on copyright, and can’t be put on a storefront like itch.io (especially now that they’re advertising on Epic). Even despite how much of a gray area their catalogue fits in already, but we could argue hypocrisy all day.

But unless Cavemanon somehow broke into KO_OP’s studio/dev channel on their Discord that didn’t exist mid-Snoot Game development and/or starts selling the game for money, they’re in the clear.

Kotaku didn't even know enough about Snoot Game to know that you play as anon, and not Fang.
Also, Fang technically isn't a "detransitioner" because she never transitioned at all, because non-binary is the way to be trans without actually doing anything. I do like how supposedly representing a detransitioner is bad. Only pure representation in this house!

Saying shit like this:
Developers of Goodbye Volcano High, an indie game that explores queer culture through the lens of a 2D story adventure game[...]
is really getting to be a pet peeve of mine seeing COUNTLESS articles like this one. Its fucking empty language trying to make it sound like the pretentious dick heads are doing anything other then making a mediocre dinosaur theme tranny-fag visual novel. Your not making art and you are barley making a fucking video-game . What the fuck do these types ever explore besides the bottom of their publishers wallets?

Seriously what the fuck do they go over? Saying anything negative about the alphabet slop community is verboten. So it going to boil down to yet more "CIS ARE SO YUCKY AND EVIL AND US QUEERS ARE SO HECKIN VALID!!!" and "My life is so hard because the world doesn't pat my ass and treat me like god among man" bullshit. Its always said they are exploring/through the lens of/crafting a narrative about this shit but they NEVER go into any aspects of their twitter pronoun community that isn't affirmation that they are always right about everything.

Its fucking rich they are still acting like pretentious wankers when they (with a publisher) are taking years to develop a fucking visual novel, then throwing a fit when some 4channer dipshits are able to crank out a game that seems pretty on par with the original project in a fraction of the time.

If the only thing granting my still-born game some relevancy was a bunch of hit pieces about a parody game that has been finished for more than a year while mine is still lost in development hell, I'd just kill myself out of embarrassment.

Steam page has a few new GIFs up, posted sometime in the last three months (the last time someone put it through archive.today):

a couple of still images being slowly panned across as some stock graphic effects show a button prompt, one of which proudly displays "THEY THEM" on top of an upside down triangle with presumably they/them flag colors, and also an image of an eye and a knife. Subtle as a shotgun.

Do you think the real reason volcano high is going to get wiped out is because Zeus or whatever god looked down and said, "Man, this shit getting too gay and edgy for me."?

Makes sense. It'd just be the greatest thing if the game ended up having a twist where it's a retelling of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah

I like to think it's because of Snoot Game.

I just noticed the button prompt has an A button in the same place as an Xbox controller. Did the devs get their game into xbox as well? or are they just showcasing steam "gameplay" with an xbox controller instead of a Play one or keyboard for some reason?

This thread always brings a smile to my face. So looking into finally playing Snoot Game, has anybody installed it on a steamdeck? would it work fine or should I just slap it on a smartphone and fuck it?
