All the KO_OP staff members have their own dinosona now; a lot of them are actually in this picture, at a big concert on the roof of the school
Isn't that just that fat sheep whateverthefuck from Undertale but purple and with a dino tail on the left?

To give them the benefit of the doubt, some of them most likely do, but it is forcibly overrode by a need to be unique for the sake of uniqueness.

Artists should try to make their creations, whatever they may be, the way they want them to be. But once you fall to the fallacy of needing them to be different than what everyone else has ever made you pigeonhole yourself into worse and worse design choices, which traps artists in Deviantart/OC-Donut-Steele tier purgatory. Having the confidence to use techniques and theories for your own art in a way that has a dash of your own spin on it is, in my opinion, a sign of maturity in an artist's chosen medium.

Now that you read all this, take a nice long look at the picture depicting the entire development team for this game again. Yeah.
Also the fact that most of them have terribly fitting outfits for the sake of being unique. We have everything from double denim to a literal cravat in this picture. In fact those two are all but next to each other.

This is your brain on twitter.

God those color schemes are really shitty for the most part. Have they any knowledge about color theory?

Oh, that would be ugly AND filled to the brim with ThE MeSSaGe, won't it.
Honestly, fuck color theory. You're why all tv is blue and orange now. The outfits are fucking fine in that shot, the problem is that they're being worn by woke furries who don't have any gameplay in their game.

You know, you're right. Creativity shouldn't be limited to what people seem to think are colors that look nicer next to each other. Any colors can look good together if you use them the right ways. These designs aren't even that awful, they just aren't very good. The only real stand out design that really just doesn't look in any way good is the dude in the red shirt and orange-yellow pants. I cant put into words what exactly is wrong with it, it just looks like shit because of the clothes. The hair of the thing directly in front of him should not have been pink. And that barbecue brown freak in the middle looks pretty bad with the turquoise nose. Other than that, nothing color-wise stands out too much.

I agree that the clothing designs are foundationally fine and while I don't agree with all the decisions color scheme wise there is nothing overtly egregious. Let's be honest: This is not neon vomit eye rape. What gets me is there everything just bleeds together. I have to focus to pick out details, and when I do find said details, some of them loop back into the unique for uniqueness' sake I brought up earlier.

I think you just helped me encapsulate what we're trying to sum up here. There is not one big thing wrong with the art here that jumps out at you. It is bland on its face with a bunch of small issues that you only half notice at first, and it makes it unsettlingly off. Not horror unsettling, just a, "That's not right..."

I think it stands out as weird because yellow pants pretty much don't exist in real life, and then a bright red shirt on top. Stands out like a traffic light. I actually singled him out as the only glaringly obnoxious design before writing my post but didn't want to clutter it up with "except"s and "actually"s.

And those shoes... Blue, red, yellow, and green all on one character with those black sleeves, the black peaking out from the bottom and top of the shirt... Design choices like these could be done well, but they didn't do it well. At least they didnt slap any large areas of white or purple on it on top of those.

I predict it's going to be very boring with all of the questions being softball ones that were hand-picked by the mods playing defense. There is no fucking way they would answer or even let through any questions that other normal people would have, suck as "what the fuck have you been doing all these years that it took this fucking long for a demo???"

The questions will be handpicked beforehand by the team from their discord, tiktok comments and email. It probably will be very boring. I'm holding out for at least one substantive statement regarding Snoot Game (or "da haydurz" in general) as well as some potentially amusing confessions on the worldbuilding (and complete lack thereof) that they've done.

I don't think this discord thread will get much more activity over the next day or two so I'll just dump it now, but this is the kind of question you might expect to have answered.

IGN has covered Goodbye Volcano High.

Here's a couple of choice bits from the video.
1682705672471.png "It's just my style."
"Check out this scene I made in Ren'Py, bro!"

Confirmed natural redhead, which is probably the most nonsensical decision yet and certainly made very late in development. I'd wager it has something to do with Snoot Game, because I can't come up with any other explanation as to why specifically Fang has a weird hair contrast to her natural skin/scale color that she dyes to be more in line with it, when almost every other main character has matching hair/scale colors, and it's somehow only her hair that's red and not every other feature, unless she also dyed her hair red before and kept that up and fuck man I don't know this shit is so retarded it's lowering my IQ the more I try to rationalize it, fuck every journoscum retard kneeling before this intersectional clusterfuck, fuck every lgtvqiap2sqai++++ retard worshipping this piece of shit as the second coming of anthony fauci, and fuck KO_OP for wasting everyone's time with this money funneling operation that only exists to keep them solvent as a company instead of making something worth playing.

An update on the eve of the demo: the QnA 'livestream' will in fact be pre-recorded.

And a bonus: Goodbye Volcano High's development will be just over five entire years on release (potentially plus some for post-release support that may or may not happen). That's five years of around ten people's salary, 40% of which was being paid for by the Canadian government, plus a good ten or so total years of contract work and everything else that Sony probably footed the bill for. Millions of (Canadian) dollars sunk into this game.

Five years isn't unreasonable, especially for a team this size doing a game in an entirely new style using tools they haven't used before. The issue is that the game probably could have been done in three years if they hadn't (seemingly) fucked around so much during the dev cycle and if they'd been far more open about what they were doing. I'm sure we're going to get another Omori out of this where people who backed it the longest are super disappointed and people who've never heard of it think it's alright.

Yeah, but don't forget the devs themselves estimated the game to last a whopping 5 hours. That's a pathetic amount for a visual novel.

I don't have a ton of experience with VNs but in my limited experience western VNs tend to be shorter as a rule. Still pathetic that a five hour campaign is all you get for five years of development though.

It was the self insert character of the former Kotaku writer they kicked off the team? Remember the "Narrative reboot" that caused an additional delay? So they had to change Fang not to be that woman.

There was a hint at internal drama in the team posted on Resetera that was quickly silenced.

>post mentions things relating to game
<gets banned for "derailment"
I always forget how retarded resetera jannies are.
I kind of get it because it's essentially irrelevant infoteasing ("oh i have special inside information, but i can't tell you :)))). Not something you'd be banned for here, definitely ridiculed and negrated, but of course they run a "tighter ship" over there.

If they were going to completely remove Kate Grey's influence from the game, and Kate Grey's dinosona/self-insert is Fang, wouldn't they have completely changed the character? As far as I can tell, Fang is still Fang visually speaking, just that she used to have red hair and her snoot and forehead are slightly smaller than they were in the original promo art which are minor cosmetic changes at the end of the day. They might have changed her character/personality, but we would have know way of knowing what the original is anyway.
