They announced earlier today that Goodbye Volcano High is going to be delayed until sometime in 2022, inb4 it gets delayed next year too.

So basically, they had to remake the game from scratch with a new team. What the fuck are they even doing?

I love them “turning off replies” on their official twitter, what a stunning admission that they fucked up and dont want to hear about it.
 
Jesus christ, not only did a fucking sped on 4chan make your game before you could and made it enjoyable, but they had the integrity to do it without firing and replacing the whole team.
 
Rebooting the entire narrative and purging the dev team is GVH's death knell. Not even major AAA productions can cope with such a major change in plot direction, just look at the borderline nonsensical plot of Destiny 1 for an example, or more recently Cyberpunk 2077. I would be surprised if it ever sees the light of day, even more surprised if it has anything resembling a coherent plot or developed characters.
 
What does this game have outside of narrative? It's a visual novel with a poorly chosen style of talk avatar! Is there anything here that isn't narrative?

I'm now wondering if snoot game hit too close to home and they're retooling the narrative to distance themselves from it.

It's not impossible that snoot game managed to satirize GVH too well and they're going back to change things, but I consider it to be quite unlikely considering it's lack of steam distribution and it's relative obscurity. I think they're just incompetent and can't make up their minds on what they want to do.

Alternatively, they could be getting publisher or investor money and the delay is just a grift, but we have nothing even slightly indicating that.

This is made with Canadian money, the studio closing/people leaving with golden parachutes without putting out a product is common.

The devs all but say outright that they dropped their original director/writer Kate Gray and as much of her contributions as possible the moment their target audience of tumblrites threw a bitch fit when the game was announced with her involvement. Sure enough, the archive of Kate's Twitter account indicates that she has stricken mention of KO_OP from her bio sometime between June 2020 and January 2021, and there appears to be no Twitter interaction between her and KO_OP since the game's announcement.

It still amuses me greatly that she was burned at the stake for admitting to indulging in animated Harry Potty porn when I have no doubt that many of her public detractors have themselves salivated over salacious Harry/Draco fanfics and the like.
