Culture Google Photos recognize black couple as gorillas, google fixes the problem but in a way no one likes

The incident actually happened in 2015:

With google apologizing and saying that they would fix their algorithm then.

But now new information has come to light that google simply binned the gorilla tag instead of trying to properly fix it.

Binned as in nothing will tag as a gorilla.

Articles about it are popping up everywhere.

There's nothing to fix.

I'm taking this as confirmation that Google employees know there's no way to distinguish black people from gorillas, so they've done the best they can.
I believe that they are currently working on an algorithm that distinguishes only between black people and gorillas, and literally nothing else.
As soon as it's ready, they'll add it as an extra step after the original general algorithm detects a gorilla.
But I'm now just speculating out of my ass.

(Bonus points if they forget about edge cases and a chimpanzee picture gets first miscategorized as gorilla by the first algorithm, and then the second algorithm, which has never seen a chimp, will classify it as a black person.)
