Business Google raises price of YouTube TV to $73 a month, blaming content costs - Jesus fuck. Who pays for this shit?

Google announced a price increase for its YouTube TV subscription on Thursday. It’s rising from $65 per month to $73 per month starting in April, according to an email sent to subscribers Thursday.
YouTube TV is Google’s cable replacement. It provides access to live TV and cable channels, delivered through an internet connection.

“As content costs have risen and we continue to invest in the quality of our service, we are updating our price to keep bringing you the best possible service,” the company said in the email to subscribers.

Google’s move to hike the price of its over-the-air subscription for cord cutters comes after several competing online streaming services have also raised the amount they charge, including services from Disney, Apple and HBO.

In December, YouTube TV secured rights to the NFL’s “Sunday Ticket” package, which will allow it to sell a bundle of out-of-market NFL games that don’t air on local TV to subscribers around the country.

YouTube will pay about $2 billion per year for the package, CNBC reported, which had several other bidders including Apple and Disney. Google hasn’t announced pricing for its “Sunday Ticket” bundle, but it cost $80 per month under its previous owner, DirecTV.

Google will also lower the price of an add-on to access higher-resolution 4K streams from $20 per month to $10 per month, according to the email.

I mean if you REALLY want to feel like you're watching cable you could use pluto tv. Complete with niggers telling you between adverts that you should feel sorry for them because of 'microaggressions'. Hey, nigger. i just want to watch spongebob not hear about your nigger woes because a "police officer looked at you funny"
Bro thank you for that laugh I sincerely needed it tonight

The sad thing is, if you watch the nickloedeon or the garfield channel, or the one heathcliff comes on sometimes, or presumably any of the other children channels it's these little nigger kids ACTUALLY doing that. I'm not even satirizing how it's worded. "police look at me different I want a world free of microaggressions" "they judge me by the colour of my skin" just shut up lil nigger I wanna watch cartoons because amy schumer is on the comedy central channel, I'm just wanting to watch something light hearted before bed, and i'd rather take a blow to the skull than watch that.

I agree completely, but it's really, really important to normie and/or boomer types even if you and I know the experience sucks.

Just an illustration: my parents periodically stay at my place when they come up north. I had a dumb TV that I'd hook up to my laptop via HDMI if I really cared to watch something on a big screen. They went out and bought me a giant-ass 4K smart TV and wall mount, just so they'd be able to use MUH APPS whenever they're visiting.

Good Lord. My boomer relatives can't even figure out smart TV stuff. So they haven't been roped into the Youtube TV stuff. But they still pay for cable yet watch like three channels plus sportsball. Tons of sportsball. And they are upset that certain gamers are now exclusive to streaming services. At least they aren't wasting more money in addiction to cable.

Yeah, my parents both have CS degrees, so they're pretty technically adept despite their age and got into Youtube and streaming services really early on.

I think they just spent decades sitting on the couch and flipping though channels with a remote. It's what they're comfortable with and how they relax and they want to replicate that experience as closely as possible.

Do any of these replace Youtube's recommended algorithm to give you videos that actually match what you've watched before? I remember the days when I could find videos with 200 views in the sidebar that were similar to the topic of the video I was watching. Now over half of it is videos I've already watched, recommends from extremely popular youtubers, and one video that is related to what I'm watching. Someone @ me if they have a fix to this issue.

I never actually knew whether or not custom instances actually fork and improve the algorithm, usually if there's a recommended videos section and it gives me the option to disable it, I just disable. The one or two times I did browse the recommendations, however, I don't think I noticed a difference?

Is it the same account? I'm not going to actually share google passwords unlike netflix/prime video. I've done the 'family group' sharing and it insists I sign up whenever I try to login to YoutubeTV. Again, it would be nice if it worked, but I don't really use live TV enough to fight it.
It's under the same master account, but you can create separate user profiles (I think up to five) so they log in with their own email and password. You can stream on 3 devices at a time or unlimited if you pay for the 4k upgrade.
