Yep I have it installed, and Gimp and a lot of other open source software as well, I't just not ready to jump full time into Linux as a desktop system yet, but I really am considering it next time I'm due a new computer.

It's actually baffling the amount of businesses that actually use Google products for all of their shit.

The worst part is that if you're applying for anything office related, they expect you to know this shit in advance, whether you're doing data entry/accounting stuff, or if you're working in IT. It's like they are saying "well EVERYONE uses Google, and Google is well known, so you'd have to be an idiot to not know how to use Google products!"

I think Google just doesn't want to get nailed for hosting illegal/cancellable content on their servers. These centralized giants are powerful, but they're vulnerable to DMCA lawsuits and subpoenas.
If you encrypt your files before uploading they won't give a shit because it affords them plausible deniability.

Regardless, it's always better to build your own cloud storage solution. Expensive up-front, but if you need more than say, 100GB of storage space it'll pay for itself within 1-2 years. And even if it doesn't the peace of mind of having control over your own data is priceless, compared to Google constantly poking at it to see to see how they can squeeze some more ad money from you.

If you know similarly minded individuals you can take this even further:
I "traded" 1TB of storage on my NAS for the same amount on those of two friends, so each of us can have 2 encrypted offsite copies of all our most important shit. All on different continents too.
