It’s going to cost five or six times more to buy components produced in the west, and with economies of scale you can’t just start small and cater to a luxury market or anything like that, you either produce big and sell at a massive loss or don’t produce at all. Everyone chooses the latter. Setting up tariffs even though there’s no existing domestic industry is likely intended to make it more feasible to start up that domestic industry. Yeah your components will be fiendishly expensive, but because of the tariffs the cheap foreign ones wouldn’t be much cheaper to the end consumer.if he was smart he would ensure local production of chips was in place first.
Tariffs are used to encourage local industry, but that's meaningless if there is no local industry.
Stalker 2 is shit anyway, just get Shadow of Chernobyl, download english subtitles + russian language and get some mod that is not anomaly/gamma.
Yeah, this is why I'm building a desktop PC and may trade in my current laptop later down the line, I love it but I hate how the 4070 Laptop GPU it comes with only packs 8 GBs of VRAM.

You don't have a monitor capable of 1280x1024?
What I'm supposed to be getting out of this is that 8 GB cards are not good for 1440p? What a shock! It was actually lower than I expected (started listening to discussion of this on HUB).
4060s still being "made". Gotta get that last bit of slop out of the bottom GPU bin. Waste not, want not.Only the 4060 is still being made, presumably because we won't see the 5060 until at least the middle of 2025.
The RTX 4060 is the full AD107 die (3072 cores), so it's a top bin of a small die. It has reasonable performance and is a good choice for low profile (although it uses more than 75 Watts). The downsides are the price and you have to cope with 8 GB.4060s still being "made". Gotta get that last bit of slop out of the bottom GPU bin. Waste not, want not.
There also an AD106 4060, which launched in 2024. I believe this is the GPU he's referring to.The RTX 4060 is the full AD107 die (3072 cores), so it's a top bin of a small die. So an eGPU?A friend of mine (not the one that told me to buy a prebuilt desktop PC) sent me this after telling him I’m now in the stages of deciding which GPU to go with.View attachment 6675592
I can only ponder in horror over the possibility (or eventuality) of future GPUs needing their own power supply separate from the one provided by the motherboard.
"its your fault for buying a graphics card older than 4 years old goy"Another game making 8gb cards untenable.
it makes sense at this point. instead of demanding someone also upgrade their power supply with their gpu every generation just have a separate one. a 650w power supply isn't that expensive to add vs demanding a 1000w then 1200w then 1500w power supply. The 4090 and 3090 both demanded 450w.I can only ponder in horror over the possibility (or eventuality) of future GPUs needing their own power supply separate from the one provided by the motherboard.
Ironically it'd be a much safer connector than 12VHPWRA friend of mine (not the one that told me to buy a prebuilt desktop PC) sent me this after telling him I’m now in the stages of deciding which GPU to go with.View attachment 6675592

at this point i'd just get a phone app. Desmos is pretty good.Any calculator nerds here? I was looking to get a nice graphing calculator, as my trusty Ti-84 Plus met a bad fate. But it has been probably 20 years since I've even looked into this stuff and now I see that they have "AI" built into them and all sorts of features. The full-color screens are definitely nifty. But I'm sort of lost. Any of you have opinions on calculators?
I didn't think I needed to include "don't waste my time with phone stuff", but here we are.at this point i'd just get a phone app.
I mean, if you want to pay $180 for a device that should only be $40 if not for them colluding with schools to make it mandatory for every student I won't stop you.I didn't think I needed to include "don't waste my time with phone stuff", but here we are.
Your input is appreciated, forgive me if I seem terse. I have no interest in using my phone for anything other than phone calls and text messages.
