Honestly, GPU purchasing should only be exclusive to physical stores only. Online stores are a fucking mistake and are the reason why scalpers have persisted to this day.

Really wanted to get a 9070 (non-XT or XT) + 850/1000W SHIFT + 2 4TB SN850Xs just so that I can spare 2 SSDs, a PSU and the 6750XT to a friend of mine who really wants to enjoy having a PC since I sympathize with him being forced into a shit laptop for nearly a decade. The modern market truly is a rat race.

This is partially why I built my rig with older parts. Less demand, but still overspeced for modern games with a 12900k and 4070 Super and 64 gigs of ddr4. Really only the graphics card was modern at the time, even then, it had been out for a while. I'd say just wait a year man, the intial rush will fizzle out

Physical store exclusivity hasn't stopped other goods from being scalped heavily. Just look at Pokemon cards in recent years. The real solution is something like a lottery to completely nullify the advantage sweats and bots have on ordinary consumers.

Or, and here's a crazy idea - the GPU industry can stop pretending it's some niche hobby thing and actually sort out supply for launches. PC gaming is more mainstream than ever and yet GPU companies still act like it's 2002.

It's because devs had to use a hybrid approach off adding RT over raster. Now we're starting to see RT only games and they are resonable(Doom the Dark ages asks for an RTX 2060 for 1080p@60). You sound like every gamer that rages about new tech that becomes standard.
the 2060 shits all over itself with re 4. that card aged really poorly
i see no reason to upgrade from my 6700xt but this new amd card seem nice

Real answer is exactly what steam did for the Steam Deck. Only verified accounts with at least 1 purchase are allowed to reserve a single card.

NVIDIA Planning Entry-Level GeForce RTX 5050 8 GB GPU, RTX 5060 8 GB Hits Retail In April (archive)
As per our information, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 will use the "PG162 SKU 25" PCB, and will come equipped with a maximum of 8 GB memory. The RTX 5050 will have a rated TBP of 145W and is said to launch in April. Do keep in mind that the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB models will also launch in April, but during the first half, while the RTX 5060 8 GB cards will most likely arrive in the second half of April.
Just give me a 75W card with 8 GB.

It's a market that is apparently in decline, making it a niche hobby thing, although some of that could be attributed to the high prices or purchasing cycles. Big wave of purchases in 2021 leads to people not needing a new card for years.

As long as the AI hype bubble is in effect, gaymers will be treated like the second-class citizens they ARE (most oppressed demographic).

Physical store exclusivity + lottery + verification (i.e an official ID) + IQ test (only 110+) = DIE SCALPER DIE

Oh that's clever, just partner with Steam and steam can prioritize accounts with a legitimate purchase and play history.

when will jewvidia start offering more than 8gigs for their entry level cards
If you define 60-class as the entry level, they could do it with the new 3 GB GDDR7 modules (only used in 5090 Mobile so far), giving 12 GB to any of the 128-bit cards, or even 9 GB to a 96-bit card. If they do a 50-series SUPER refresh, it will probably involve increasing VRAM by 50% for certain cards, particularly the 5080 and 5060.

Now I can add GN's video:

What I cared about most, the power efficiency:

At this point I may be the only person that is more focused on the non-xt version. Will only get one MSRP though.
from my own testing if you cap the fps the 9070xt uses 150-200w in games at 1440p. I've gotten it down to 50-100w in 60fps cap games,. in comparison my old 3080 always used200 -300w in games that put any load on the gpu

Did you include undervolt? I tested my 6750XT undervolted in Linux Mint w/ LACT. The max Watts I got was around 160-170 at 1440p using WoT max settings, XCOM2 modded w/max settings-ish, KCD1 at Very High settings, and CS2 at some maps (all with disabled motion blur).

I haven't undervolted the amd card yet. I will have to do that later but from the reviews I've seen you can undervolt it to use 10-20% less power and get similar performance. This card get very efficient especially if you don't have a high refresh rate monitor and want to cap your fps
