So basically the only "good" GPUs are the Intel Arc B580 and AMD RX 9070XT and even, pricing and stock issues still exists for both these specific GPUs.

The PC market needs a crash, very very badly.

9060 XT 16 GB = ~32% faster than the B580 at 1440p (HUB/TPU).
9060 XT MSRP = $350, 40% more than the B580 MSRP ($250).
B580 real price = $300 (32% more would be $396).

Don't fall for the Intel graphics meme. Even a scalped 9060 XT 16 GB at $400 looks like a better buy.

Preliminary sales data seems to indicate that the new 8 GB cards are DOA. There might be a lot of people willing to stomach an 8GB card in 2025 but those people probably bought in last gen or are using secondhand GPUs.

I hope AMD didn't make too many 8GB 9060 XTs. Nvidia can always find ways to dump their crap onto consumers but AMD might have to go dig a hole in New Mexico.

It's good if the prices of 8 GB cards fall, and if you know you won't need more than 8 GB at 1080p. Hardware Unboxed has FPS/lows of the 5060 Ti 8 GB above the 9060 XT 16 GB at 1080p. TechPowerUp shows the same (even 1% lows) at 1080p AND 1440p. Obviously, it's possible to make do with 8 GB.

So a choice of 9060/8GB for $250 or 9060/16GB for $400 would look great for the 8 GB card. Something like $280 vs. $360 would be tougher. $300 for the 8 GB card is not recommended. Much larger than $50 price gaps are only possible if the 8 GB is absolutely unsellable with a lot of supply. The BOM cost difference is probably closer to $20-30, so AMD will want to stop making the 8 GB if it rots on shelves.

MLID thinks 9060 XT 8 GB is initially somewhere between 20-33% of the Navi 44 supply.

If you didn't notice 8 GB 9060 XTs in the reviews, that's because AMD is accused of playing tricks with the sampling, similar to Nvidia:

AMD has limited Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB sampling based on ‘regional market demand’ (archive)

But I guess any instance of the 5060 Ti 8 GB being slightly ahead of the 9060 XT 16 GB should show 9060 XT 8 GB performing identically, or a little lower because of the 10W lower official TDP and clocks.

9800x3D 9070 xt rig at microcenter for $1600. I have the option to get one. Am I a fool if I don't grab it?
I added some prices together based on feelz ($450 for the CPU, $700 for the GPU) and the pre-built should be at least a little cheaper than DIY with no hassle. Seems good if those are the parts you want and you want them now.

Even better the motherboard and case aren't pieces of shit either.

Idk what the power supply model is but it's 750W.

Plus if you have a problem at least you can take it to a physical store instead of dealing with rajmeesh over the phone.

I don't understand why people were so hyped up about this

esport-centered games already ran comfortably on nearly 10 year old hardware (at 1080p)

The 16 GB model is a better version of the RX 7700 XT, RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, or RX 6800, for less cash (if bought at $350 MSRP). It has more VRAM than the 7700 XT, raytracing at least on par with a 7800 XT (TPU shows that, HUB has it at 7900 XT level at 1080p with 7 games tested), and supports FSR4 out of the box (plus Redstone in the future) which AMD hasn't commited to backporting to RDNA3 cards. It also has full PCIe x16 instead of x8 which would be typical of a card of its size and TDP.

AMD's marketing man has deployed the esports argument to justify the existence of the cheaper 8 GB model (which is all around better than the RTX 5060 at the same price). But some of these reviews show plenty of games doing fine with 8 GB at 1080p, not just lightweight esports.

AMD defends RX 9060 XT 8GB, says majority of gamers have no use for more VRAM
AMD claims RX 9060 XT 8GB is 55% faster than RX 7600 at 1080p, 16GB model is 46% faster than 7600 XT at 1440p

The 8 GB cards won't be very future proof though, so the 9060 XT 16GB at $350 compares well to a $300 RTX 5060 8GB or a $380 RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. Nvidia could fix this by dropping in 12 GB Super models at the same price points.

Actual prices for all of these (even the RTX 5060) are higher, although this MSI Ventus 5060 Ti 8GB is at $390.

Here's another question: Is a $600 9070 a better value than a $700 9070 XT?
In a world where the price of a GPU is what it was actually advertised as, you could use something like this page from a 9070xt review to determine some kind of performance to dollar rate. The numbers on there are only a rough idea, you'd need to do some legwork yourself to figure the proper value of each card due to the actual prices being all over.

I got my B580 for MSRP and honestly, best purchase of my life.

Get it, its an insane deal
