I'm fine with DLSS upscaling. It's quite literally free performance, you make the GPU do less work for the same visual output. It's all real frames, but lower res, then bumped up in real time to native res, and DLSS does a great job at it. However Jensen can shove an entire Blackwell rack up his leather jacket ass for trying to push garbage that can't even output stable 60FPS with DLSS upscaling, then say that MFG will magically make it run like a better GPU, but it won't because frame gen is only viable if you already have a powerful GPU that can output >90FPS and you want to bump it up on your high refresh rate monitor. That's the only real life scenario where frame gen is great, but that's not what Nvidia is trying to market it as, which they've made abundantly clear trying to give Steve an ultimatum of either peddling their lies or losing access to engineer talks. And for that, fuck them and fuck Jensen.

isn't like 70% of them generated? so they don't really count unless you want to fool suckers.
Yeah I wonder if I could've made a joke exactly about that, perhaps using the "Morbillion" meme but instead changing it to be a play on words of "NVDIA" since it has an I on it.

I use AMD's frame gen at 60-80 fps and it's fine. It's better than not using it. Generating 3 frames instead of 1 though seems like "we're out of ideas at the moment."

I swear whoever did the branding at Xbox had zero background in advertising and marketing.
Either that or they had PhDs in it. The hilarious thing is the whole reason for Xbox 360 is they feared Xbox 2 would make normies think it was a generation behind the Playstation 3. So fine, do this:

Xbox
Xbox 360
Xbox 460
Xbox 560
Xbox 660
etc

Instead they seemed to have worked hard to do as bad as they could.

my stance on frame gen is what slav power said, you already have a card strong enough to not need to do that shit, why fucking bother?
i would concede on framegen being more of a software issue for older cards but generating fake frames to play a shitty unoptimized game on a MODERN GPU? man, fuck off, good luck getting that through the head of jensen and lisa, especially when the need to make green line go up and shieet.

i know of the lossless upscaling though, there are tons of videos on it with people recycling old gpu's, now imagine being able to use a HBM2 instinct or quadro alongside a low profile 5060, that would be cool.

nope, i won't try it, after i saw some retard selling a Radeon Pro WX 4100 for 80 dollarinnos i just gave the fuck up about the used market, i don't know why retards charge that much for something that is over 6 years old, hell, i've seen HD's 4870 being sold for 100$+
complete fucking lunacy.

They're not quitting yet.

I genuinely wonder how much of their problem is due to absolutely fucking up the branding beyond all recognition. Nerds plugged into the tech scene do not always grasp how you have literal milliseconds to communicate something with a brand name, and if you fail in those milliseconds, you just lost sales. "Series" is absolutely the worst brand name you could come up with. It's such a bad brand that it's not even obvious that's a brand. It's the kind of word that people will mistakenly add in on their own.

It's not trivial. Nintendo discovered after the fact that many people thought the "Wii U" was just a tablet attachment for the Wii. How many people didn't realize the "Xbox One S" and "Xbox Series S" were different products? You can find a ton of listings on various digital storefronts for an "Xbox One Series S," a product that doesn't exist (usually what is shown is an Xbox One S).
Isn't that every company now though. Just look at AMD and Intel naming schemes. I don't know how all marketing departments across the board haven't been gutted.

*Lossless Scaling, and it's biggest issue is the extra input lag it adds due to the way it works. It captures any window of your choosing, then shows it's own window where it does all the magic. That's a good chunk of overhead that causes the input lag that the more integrated solutions like DLSS and FSR don't suffer from, and those can also give better results due to acting on the game's rendering engine instead of the final frame output. On the plus side, you can use LS on any window, so you can frame gen YouTube videos to be of your screen's native refresh rate for example.

It often goes for pennies on Steam sales so it's worth giving it a try.

Hello noobs, today I ordered a 4070 laptop for $573.45. Best Buy Open Box Excellent Condition HP VICTUS.

Victus is a dumb name but it's better than Omen. It should be called TrumpTop. I love my TrumpTop, he's a 16-incher.

Due to President Trump's Powerful Tariffs, companies are pricing electronics cheaper than ever, as they fear wrath if they increase prices.

WINNING!

I think it could be down to electronics companies (except dumbass ones like Xbox) stockpiling more inventory than usual before the tariffs hit. But it's normal for previous-gen laptops to crater in price.

Either way, it's based to pay the iron price 75% off for this crap.

What card out there runs all games currently out at 240 fps, max settings, 4K resolution? Any of them? The reality is that most people run games at settings well below their monitor refresh rate, and frame gen smooths out the result. Personally, I tend to run games at 70-90 fps, and since my monitor is 162 Hz, frame gen is just gravy on top.

a shitty unoptimized game on a MODERN GPU?
I think it's amazing we're at the point where 90 fps with nearly photorealistic graphics is "shitty and unoptimized."

The other day "It's all about the Pentiums" came on. Imagine if Intel had instead named it the i7-12700H. Or Core Ultra 200V, where V does not even stand for volts.

Third time's the charm? The last tv console steam machine failed badly.
that was more due to the execution (have anyone shit out prebuilts with an official sticker of the biggest digital storefront for videogames, what could go wrong) and linux being as far as it is now.
a single (or very limited range) of hardware with bespoke OS will always have demand, because there's a fuckhuge amount of people who can't or won't bother putting a windows pc ("but I use this for work?!") into their living room.

that fucking sucks, because if you put in effort you won't have the need to framegen for good graphics (if you wish to test FreeTP got you covered :tomgirl:).
but i guess it's the AAA jeetcore reality of gamestudios today because they know native upscaling and fake frames exist and use that as a crutch to quickly shit out assets and let the players generate the rest.
speaking of framegen, vex uploaded a video and i found a comment that just stuck out.

well that's not unsurprising all things considered, if that shit was native then input lag wouldn't be a big problem but hey, people would look more into using older GPU's to play games instead of forking out 100$ for a 4GB card that is new.

That game you just linked only runs at ~66 fps on a 5090 at 4K max settings. You would need frame gen or reduce your settings to hit 240 fps.

Look, we've had this argument for pages before, so I'll cut to the chase. Name five 3D games that came out before the DLSS era that
  1. Weren't ports from an outdated console
  2. Would run at a high-end monitor's refresh rate at its native resolution at whatever the equivalent of a 4070 was back then (i.e. a 2-year-old midrange GPU).
I'll be impressed if you can even find one.

It works by introducing a 1-frame delay to interpolate between the frames, as opposed to AMD's & NVIDIA technologies that extrapolate from the current frame. There's no way to get rid of that lag without time travel.
