GPUs & CPUs & Enthusiast hardware: Questions, Discussion and fanboy slap-fights - Nvidia & AMD & Intel - Separe but Equal. Intel rides in the back of the bus.

With the way APUs are advancing, there will soon be no point to a 60 or below class GPU.
I also hope the "mega APUs" like Strix Halo or Project Digits eat some of the use cases for discrete GPUs. 32 GB VRAM? It's shit!

I thought this was a cool idea, but now it's dead:
Ayaneo Flip DS & KB was canceled mid-production — only some units exist, the rest won't come

Holy shit, an actual balanced take.

While I appreciate him not being a histrionic retard, I doubt that commercial use of these cards is constraining supply so much that it's affecting availability and thus price for gaming. I think it's much simpler - NVIDIA makes the best GPUs. Consumers don't care about abstract metrics like megapixels per second per dollar. Tech nerd corners of the internet can argue until they're blue in the face that inferenced pixels and extrapolated frames don't count and raytracing is gay, but what the consumer sees is that when you turn all that crap on, the NVIDIA cards just look better. AMD is not a technology leader and haven't had a groundbreaking idea in 20 years.

In their GPU department sure but not their CPUs!

The Hawaii GPUs back in 2013 (R9 290X/R9 290) would've done a lot better if AMD hadn't had shit drivers and set out review units with blower coolers that thermal throttled. They were still good enough to force Nvidia to release the 780 ti in response.

This is kind of the core problem with discussions about GeForce pricing - the market for the cards isn't simply people buying them for leisure activities but also actual professionals who make money with them and consequently have incredibly high tolerances for price.
Why don't they make a dedicated "Pro" brand?

They do

Compared to this, a 5090 is a bargain.

Yeah, but putting an Ada in a datacenter doesn't void its warranty. And yes, that is literally the only difference with some of these cards, NVIDIA charges you a massive premium to put the card in a room with other computers rather than on your desktop.

That and also the better virtualization support and some of the other associated high-end software features. Oh, and I guess also the ECC memory.

Its so fucking over.

>be Intel Arc
>Overhead issues

>be Nvidia RTX
>missing rops, stock, fake prices and general beta test feeling

>be Radeon RX
>price

PC gaming and enthusiast tech have reached a low point in the history of tech enthusiast general. We have mocked people for buying consoles, now they are laughing at us and people are actually picking PS5s and Switches over PC.

$1K for a PS5 Pro after 3 years of online, stand and dvd player, consoles are no better right now.

I still maintain that pc enthusiasts get the market they deserve. It was all lols and "who cares I just want the best" when the prices started really getting jacked.

"But muh car comparison"

"Muh [insert expensive rich person hobby here] comparison"

Open the wallet up, poors. Or play old games/ play on nigger settings.
