I don't really feel surprised or excited about this. Though I hate the fact that they removed the originals in favor of the crappy remastered ones.

Take-Two didn't delete the original version of Mafia while they published the remakes, hell they even made 'em free. I bet this decision was made by Rockstar Games themselves... and some people believed they were the saints all along during the mod takedown fiasco.

By the way, the spergs over GTAForums are now all wet and exicted for the new game to consume. Looks like they forgot already all the hatred they had towards T2/Rockstar before.

"""new""", seriously what is this remaster going to achieve that hasn't been achieved already?

They're going to assrape my beloved K-DST and VRock aren't they (:_(
If they genuinely tried to maintain the track listing I wouldn't have a problem. The Tony Hawk remakes only lost like 2 songs. They could also not be dicks and actually add songs.

They didn't take down original Mafia because there was enough of a difference between it and the remake that people would buy the remake over the original.

This though? There won't be a difference. People would obviously buy the cheaper older version if the only difference is upscaled textures and clay looking character models.

Yeah, I guess they did that too also to prevent people from modding the originals to make it look like the remastered one. Mods such as DirectX 2.0, for example.

It's going to be a lazy, half-assed, remaster just to acknowledge the 20th anniversary of the release of GTA III.

They threw in VC & SA so they could kill two birds with a stone and thus avoid doing something for the 20th anniversaries of those two respective games. Maybe they'll just post a tweet about it and maybe put the remaster on sale, nothing more nothing less.

Though I must give them some credit for doing anything at all, most companies do jack shit when an anniversary of their big games comes up. And yeah I'm looking at you, Valve.

Ironic you say this, really. This same company; all this shit they're doing for the 20th anniversary, and the little bit they did for the 10th anniversary of Vice City. If anyone remembers, they actually didn't do shit for the 10th anniversary of the best GTA in my eyes, one of the greatest video games ever in my eyes, and one of the most popular video games in history: San Andreas. I waited fucking years in anticipation for the 10th of SA, and crickets.

Not even a fucking t-shirt to commemorate it.

Dickheads. I'm still pissed about it.

They did "honor" it though, by releasing that abomination of a "remaster" for the Xbox 360.

I watched the trailer for the Definitive Edition and I thought it was a nice looking trailer that used the GTA III theme music pretty well. The fact that they were able to blend all three regions of Liberty City, Vice City and Los Santos in to its own game seemed pretty interesting to see, even in 2021 of all years.

But then I remember that Rockstar announced that they’ll possibly remove “problematic” content that will make the series look like an after school special of Grand Theft Auto, but for teenagers.

If I’m lucky at predictions, the new versions of this trilogy are just a stepping stone of what we might expect for GTA VI. These games being brought to the Nintendo Switch just seem like the perfect example of “bread and circuses” if you’ve ever seen it.

Them showing absolutely no footage of the games is a baaaaaaad sign.
Even worse:

One retailer leaked the trilogy's MSRP to be $60. $70 for next gen.

Now watch this release have bugs, inconsistent textures, and more missing music than before.

They're taking down the old versions from online stores starting this week:
Question: Why can’t I find digital versions of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for sale?

Answer: With the October 8, 2021 announcement of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the Rockstar Games Launcher, previous versions and bundles featuring these titles will be removed from console and PC digital retailers as of the week of October 11, 2021.

Players who purchased these titles previously will still be able to download and play them on their respective purchase platforms.

Stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for more information about Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition platforms and release dates.

At this point just pirate that shit. Rockstar gave all three titles away numerous times in the early 10's along with other games (it's the only reason I have bully and LA noire on PC), so no point in feeling bad about it.

Higher definition textures that make the streets look like they're soaking wet courtesy of Rockstar hiring that man youtube commenters keep demanding.

No I mean, why a seperate next gen version along with a last gen version?

Is the 4K bullshit going to be more 4K on PS5 to neccessitate a 10 dollar increase? Will they not make the PS4 version backwards compatible? Or is it digital only on PS4?

It's madness, and retards will fall for this shit.

What. In. The. FUCK could possibly be different to necessitate a next gen version?
- There's a whole generation that never played these games. Money to be made.
- Removal of transphobic jokes and wrongthink like mocking liberals and fags.
- Money, money, money.

How do high-def textures make the streets wet?
You're talking about ENB and the reflection-obsessed tweakers who make their INIs look like shiny garbage.

Anyway, high-def textures will only exalt and point out how old these games are. Try installing a 1080/4K texture modified gta3.img and (if it doesn't crash) look how making these games too clean and crisp only makes them look worse.

New textures and gameplay enhancements.
No texture pack is work $60-$70. If you can get a parallax-enabled 4K complete texture pack for Skyrim for the sum of $0.00, it's complete stupidity to fork over a burger flipper's full day of pay for a game that (so far) is still not natively supported with anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, screen occlusion, or a higher poly count.

What gameplay enhancements? Stuff modders already did for free like a better camera? Autism must be incredibly on point if you feel it's worth it to fork over $70 over a console re-release for features you can get for free on PC, especially on a game that virtually any laptop/desktop sold today can run maxxed.
