Speaking of Head Radio, this song is fucking great imo

As is this, was cruising through Shoreside Vale in a Banshee when this came on making me contemplate my life.

Seeing as radio stations were discussed...

Liberty City

A R I S E

Good memories of that one mission you do with the Jamaican gang drive-bying Diablos, when I accidentally stepped out of the car and the one guy hopped out and blasted me with a shotgun for abandoning the vehicle.

As for the best radio station:
Can't beat having Axl Rose as DJ.

Never knew that was Axl Rose!

I have a very vivid memory of taking off from Verdent Meadows in a rustler as Heart's "Barracuda" played on the radio. It was an iconic moment in my own mind playing San Andreas.

One of mine is during the mission Saint Mark's Bistro, flying there to Liberty City I jammed out to Eddie Money's "Two Tickets to Paradise", then after blasting through the mission with dual wielding sawed-offs, I flew back to Las Venturas Airport with Rod Stewart's "Young Turks" playing. SA's radio is just so great, along with 3 and VC.

How is Radio Los Santos going to have 2Pac's I Don't Give a Fuck but the clean version of Ice Cube's Check Yo Self?
I'll always remember Radio Los Santos and its library of classic rap music. But yea, even I thought it was confusing back in the day while playing this that they'll play 2Pac's song uncensored, but then played a radio edit of "Check Yo Self."

I remember playing that SA mission, Just Business, and Jane's Addiction's Been Caught Stealing was playing during the motorcycle sequence. Fifteen years later, I managed to recognize that song from a Spotify playlist.

Craig Gray's Fade Away during a rainy, drab day in Liberty City perfectly captures the loneliness of being in a big city.

Unofficial music video, but this song deserves to be visually experienced.

Some of my favorite gaming memories are being Tommy Vercetti, swiping a Stinger,, turning on V-Rock, listening to Maiden, Priest, Ozzy, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, and, naturally, Love Fist, as I run over pedestrians, outrun cops, rob stores, pick up and kill hookers, and generally have a big ol' time in-between missions.

I know a lot of people didn't like the PS4 remastered version of the 3D trilogy, but it was such a blast for me to go back to Liberty City, Vice City, and Los Santos again.

See, this is why I'm a fan of the GTA series. The diverse selection of music supplemented by the humorous, artistic DJs brings each world to life. I love having that ONE song play that adds to your natural experience doing whatever. That's the definition of "open world freedom."

That moment GTA 4 had a Philip Glass song from the Koyaanisqatsi soundtrack
And I remembered this level while playing on the PS3 just about a day after I watched then new Watchmen movie in theatres and recalling the one scene with Dr. Manhattan which played that exact same Philip Glass piece.

Okay, so IV's multiplayer, specifically Kenny Petrovic returning to America, is an epilogue of GTA IV's story. I did not know that. Nice forward thinking from R*.

Hint: notice where the co-op mission Deal Breaker starts and ends.

To be honest, I'm glad it's smaller than this. It's already a slog to drive from point a to b for missions but you just know that if they used this map that one mission would start you at LS port then make you drive to the furthest point in the north east section of the map. Unless they vastly increase the speed of the cars or give the flying one to offline story.

anyway our favorite GTA autist thinks that R* will stop updating GTAO altogether:

GTAO will still be up, but it will end IF the 6th game comes out, but it's never gonna come out at this rate.

I wouldn't mind the long drives between missions provided that there is:
A) a way to save along the way. Either the Quick Save function GTA5 has on the cell phone menus or
B) properties to buy everywhere so I can have save where I want and when I want. I'm thinking all those safehouses and apartments you could buy all over the place in the 3D games. All the businesses you can buy in GTA5 are nice, but you end up still only having one or two actual save spots on the map by the end and
C) something to do along the way. More random events or places with interiors or people to interact with. Something besides just roadside scenery and the occasional Lost and Damned bikers driving by. And make it more random. Knowing I will ALWAYS see the biker spawn at the traffic light outside the Paleto Bay police station is fun if I'm Trevor and just looking for one more kill and a motorcycle, but it is predictable.

One game mechanic that might be interesting is an AI controlling all the other gangs and having them battle amongst themselves for territory. Let's say there are four gangs: A,B, C, and D. You're friendly with A, hostile with B and don't care about C or D. You go into a neighborhood now and A is in control, so they are cool with you, give you help, you can buy guns or get info or something. A bit later the same neighborhood might be under control of B and you have to watch you back. Later on you go to the same neighborhood and it is actively a warzone as B, C, and D are all fighting for it. You can aid a gang but it affects your reputation with other gangs.

or give a plane
they already do, the plane is just slightly faster than the car and that's like by 5km, 10 if you get on higher altitude.
if they used realistic shit then people would notice the map is actually small
GTAO will still be up, but it will end IF the 6th game comes out, but it's never gonna come out at this rate.
GTAO is clearly going to keep the skeleton crew as T2 noticed it's cheaper, plus those darmn modders keep porting online stuff to isngleplayer.

GTAO2 i do not know how it'll be, considering that the old team left and T2's known "love" for modders...

Watch Dogs 2 had a similar system, except you couldn't get "friendly" with gangs but rather turn them against each other.

GTA 2 has a "gang favor" system that gauges how much favor you have with gangs. SA passively had that with gang territories and gang respect with fellow Grove members.

Playing GTA IV while living in one parts of the boroughs in NY looks more cathartic to me in current day. I can’t imagine a current day Niko Bellic living in the city. Also, speaking of songs that I love playing in the virtual car:
