I'm so out of the GTA Online loop now I didn't even know there was an event. Which seems like a good thing, considering people have been mistaking it as modders just doing what modders do.

Honestly, this is the kind of shit that should have been in GTA Online in like 2015 when all they would do is have crates that everyone would fight over. Not in 2021 when nobody gives a shit about anything other than griefing or grinding.

Oh, NOW I remember!

This fucking mission gave me an intense fear and PTSD of redwood trees, loading in out of nowhere like a supernatural entity and CJ dying in a fireball, with Young Turks playing while Toreno is yelling in my ear about the air force fucking me up because I'm 1cm too high in the air.

TBF that clown just standing there in the middle of the night is a very effective horror visual.

Just hug the coastline lmao.

But yeah, engine issues. Too bad the port did fuck all to fix that.

"Why are people upset that this product they're paying money for looks like shit?!?!"

It's also NOT a remaster, it's a remake. A remaster is taking the original game and REMASTERING the art with the original code (Halo Master Chief Collection). This is a REMAKE because they're REMAKING it in a new engine (Unreal Engine). Even still, Rockstar is a multi billion dollar company, there's no reason for the game to look bad. Also I am retarded
It doesn't matter what it is.

Guess I'm late to the party but I just saw some discussion that Rockstar removed the confederate flag on Phils shirt in Vice City?
People ITT called it happening and I suspected, but this is the first official sign imo that Rockstar is going to start caving to the outrage faggots, full force now.
And with that? I make the decision not to even buy the remakes. Which is a shame because as lazy as it seemed I was kinda excited about getting to replay the old games with modern controls and a bit of polish, the games themselves are solid entries and some of the most enjoyable games from my youth. But I refuse to give them another goddamn cent of money in any venue or on any platform if they're going to start this shit of playing in the culture wars and cowing to the mobs.

It could easily be they don’t want to put a confederate flag in a trailer, also who the fuck cares.

You'd be better off purchasing the originals with native hardware and playing them as intended.

Yes, they have removed the Confederate Flag and replaced it with a skull logo:

I think this is fairly embarrassing woke pandering, but somewhat predictable in current year. One thing I thought was interesting is that Kotaku reported this change as follows: "The remastered Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy appears to be leaving the Confederate flag behind [...] the footage offers a brief glimpse of arms dealer Phil Cassidy, but this time without the symbol of Southern slavery on his shirt."

This description has been lazily copied verbatim by games journalists all over the globe, yes I checked and it's literally been copy+pasted then translated on various gaming sites that cater to German, French and Spanish audiences respectively. To brazenly reduce the Confederate Flag to merely a symbol of Southern slavery is both ahistorical and laughable, but then again this is coming from the same people who believe the successful political retcon that the Civil War was about freeing the negroes in the South which is also an absolute fiction.

EDIT:
Seems a very strange decision in light of these comments:
Dan Houser did give an interview a while back where he criticized Current Year woke culture for both stifling potential creativity and more importantly, being so over the top and ridiculous that it's near impossible to satirize.

During that interview, he did sort of imply that he wanted to make the next GTA game a period piece since it'd be more timeless and could focus on the setting and story more easily as opposed to trying to make satire out of an already very ridiculous world.
Then again Dan Houser resigned from Rockstar in February 2020 and it seems likely that this point of view isn't shared by the new leadership.

Modders outdid Rockstar at their own game years ago. This remaster looks like nothing special and seems to detract in some ways from the original design. They will never recapture this

As for the censorship, there's no doubt they removed much more from the trilogy. We will have to wait and see.
