Im willing to bet that these new games are 100% ports of the mobile versions and old ports of the mobile versions with some fancy shaders , and i cant even blame Grove street games for this since its mainly rockstars fault for giving them this task AGAIN , i expect it to do poorly , i honestly do , since it isnt on steam i expect people to not be as forthcoming with buying it , and they will actually read about it more and decide not to.

This is rockstars fault through and through , take two clearly isnt the evil higher ups since mafia 1 got a great remake and it was older than the trilogy (the mafia 2 remaster sucked but thats a different beast) , its clear who ever runs rockstar wanted a quick money grab that they could pawn off to another studio while they work on whatever the fuck they are making.

I think it's Unreal Engine but with as many things ported as possible (animations, sounds, physics values like gravity, acceleration, etc).

Did the mobile ports run on renderware? i always thought they were running on unity or unreal
I'm pretty sure they were Renderware because you could straight up mod the games if you rooted your phone.
Gameplay is out and the dialogue outside of cutscenes is just as horribly compressed as it was on release. Only this time there isn't a minuscule disc limit to justify it.

IIRC they were ported to unity but still used the same dff/txd/dat/img/ide assets which allowed modding to be possible. I could be wrong and misremembering, so don't quote me on it,

R* either jewed GS out of the master recordings or they lost them years ago because fuck archiving your own work.

GTA III and VC were 700MB/1.1GB respectively, something even a single-layer DVD disc from 2001/2 could store with room to spare. Audio compression was a RAM/CPU constraint in their case.
SA being 3.7GB can be excused if the game was printed on a single-layer DVD, but even then the same RAM/CPU limitations would apply.


I don't know if this happens in Nu-SA, but Nu-VC/III's non-cutscene models still don't have moving mouths with teeth and stuff.
C'mon, I understand not wanting to do this in 2001/2 due to most people playing these games on CRTs to notice anyway, but even back then you at least had the models move their jaws to fake mouth movement. This time they move at all. Dead stiff like mannequins.

Yall ready for for GTA Trilogy nostalgia bait packs in GTA:O?

I spent thousands of hours stunting in GTA VC/SA, so this seemed like a good buy-in to 100% and ditch forever, but seems like I'd be picking up a corpse for a date and still try to get a nut or two out of it. Shit, is it even coming to Steam?
 
Has anyone seen if the switch port is hot garbage yet? That one kid YouTuber suggested that it’s totally broken, but other leaked footage seems to show it working at least at 30 fps on hardware. Anyone seen if it’s 30 or 60 fps?

I want to play GTA SA again, but its a PS2 copy and my PS2 got shafted hard by age. Is there any torrents and shit that I can use for a pc/laptop? I ain't an engineer that can repair a decade old console sadly.

Wasn't there a huge story about how Lazlow braved a hurricane to save all of the GTA master tapes? Surely that couldn't have *only* been for the radio commercials?

Look, I get that UE4 was never meant to draw low render distances, but either spend time hiding that shit or make new LODs that don't exhibit what a lazy whore you are.
The worst part is they spent time adding those new tree LODs. They saw those areas and didn't think there was anything to fix except adding more trees.
This was intentional.

I don't even know if I can blame GSS for this though, UE4 was never made to render only a pathetically small area at once like Renderware was. I wonder if the games even use a timecyc file anymore.
But for real, SA is so small by today's standards that the entire map is drawn (with LODs of course) with no sweat, something that would've crashed consoles and most PCs 16 years ago. Is GSS to blame for using tech that's too new and too good for an old ass game made on an archaic engine that was a 6th gen darling?

What I can blame GSS for though, is the lack of adding detail and life to the map.
Mods like Project2DFX added LOD sprites to give cities lighting from a distance and appear lived in and active, and you're telling me a professional studio couldn't even do that?

R* games used to pride themselves on attention to detail, to an autistic degree. These versions vomit all over these iconic masterpieces and the original teams that developed them.

I refuse on principle to ever touch these iterations in exchange for money.
It's like watching an old movie and they "remastered" it so much, you can see the tricks they've used hidden from poorer technology.

Easy. You half ass the porting process with a cheap company and remove the original work. Meanwhile, you punish those who enchance those games independently FOR FREE I may add.
 
The #1 rule for ports/remasters is that if your customer can get a better experience playing the original version via an emulator, you have failed.
T2 doesn't care about that, they want to cash in the consoomer fags nostalgiaaa, totally ignoring that the PC and even PS2 can be modded to look much better than this steaming pile of shit, hell i wager someone is going to rip these models and port them to the OG versions since T2 is full of corponiggers that they will probably consider not selling the OG versions after a while.
And that's why game developers get away with such shady practices. Narrow minded consumers with money to burn.
I honestly think there are two or three paid pajeets in there to shill, it's T2 after all.

To the people bitching about wanting a remaster of beloved classics, I hope they got what they wanted. This will be many players' first experiences with the GTA trilogy. You can't even obtain the originals in their glory without going through some back-end tactic.

Players nowadays are so fixated on graphics, they forget that these games were running on older technology. It shouldn't be hard for a professional company to MATCH the quality of compassionate, lifelong modders that prolong those experiences for modern experiences without compromising the artistic and creative integrity these titles are known for.

Only a matter of time before physical copies of these games skyrocket in price or deteriorate as time passes. Then, they'll just be distant memories lost to time because of greed.


Yet another one of my favorite franchises tainted by corporate greed, identity politics and trends.

also on the video, GTA3 and VC doesn't get a big head on the cinematics while GTA SA not only does but it also has moving mouth for CJ's bigass head (1:59), there's also one part on the video where it shows tommy walking slowly like he had some soap under his shoes (1:44).

You'd be surprised how many spastics out there complain about GTA targeting random people rather than whoever they actually wanted to target.

I imagine a decent combat system hasn't been implemented in these remastered games then? We're still running around and having firefights while standing in the middle of the street?
