4 and 5 just turn into a game of cat and mouse where you have to eternally run away instead of bringing it to the cops and feds doorstep.
I see memes like this:

when comparing the wanted system from IV to V. I think the wanted system in IV is tough, but fair. If you understand its cop logic with its new search radius feature, you shouldn't have TOO much trouble evading them.

V's wanted level system is unfair and brutal. Damage output from cops is insane; I think they have aimbot. The search radius and individual cone tracking takes longer to dissipate compared to IV.

The data breach shows that console players vastly outnumber PC players. There are more GTA players on the Xbox One, not the Series X or S just the older Xbox One alone, than all PC players. Just shows how unpopular PC gaming truly is compared to even last generation consoles. When 90% of your regular players are on console it makes sense that there is no rush to make PC ports of your biggest titles. And also because the PC versions tend to have hordes of abusive hackers compared to the console realms.

To add to that discovery, the XB1/PS4 ports of GTA V came out before the PC port. Around the time of that launch, I think it was 2014/2015, there was more opportunity to have those consoles from sales and price drops compared to now with the E&E port of GTA V/Online. I’m not surprised that there are less players on the Series S|X/PS5 versions since those consoles are more expensive and it was an useless upgrade when the prior version worked fine and is backwards compatible with the newer consoles.

It's a big deal for preservation purposes. It confirms a bit more of what was already proved to be omitted from IV before release: zombies, ferries, revolver, character models. What more would there be to talk about and for how long?
I gotta say, I do get kinda tired of all of these terminal autistic turbospergs going on about "game preservation bro!!!" and archival acting like they've just discovered some long buried relic or the Ark of the Covenant or some shit, or like they're attempting to restore an amazing painting from the 12th century. Sure, it can be cool, but slap that shit up on archive.org and be done with it, don't act like you just discovered the Shroud of Turin or something. "ZOMG guys I found a beta build and get this, it's one full month before the actual release! that means this one particular ped has a different model and the color of the cop ped model's hat is a slightly different shade of blue! dude this is groundbreaking stuff! dude, this cutscene is shot from a different angle than it is in the final build, holy fuck!!"

Maybe I'm just too much of a normie nowadays I guess, but I can't convince myself to give a fuck.

this shit peaked with the nintendo playstation or the weird creepypasta around resident evil 3.5. if you arent doing cool things like patching policenauts so people finally could play it in english whats the fucking point

I agree with your first point. I do want to refute your second point. How often do you see a dev kit out in the wild, especially a Rockstar one?

I hate Johnny in V, not because I care about him (he is a nothing burger character to me), but because his story was over.
I have no problem with side characters, Rosenberg in SA, Avery in LCS, Rocco in V, all fine, but the protagonists just don't fit.
I hate Johnny in V because I really liked the character and not only does his appearance in V undo all his development, it fucking kills him just to suck off Trevor.

That shit still fucking pisses me off, I loved TLAD.

Imagine if Franklin's intro in V was him shooting a strung out CJ that's sucking off dudes under an overpass for crack money.

Anytime I've ever thought of going on a rampage in 4 or 5 I always felt it was required to find a place only accessible by helicopter where you're surrounded by at least 2 or 3 walls and a roof.
The only time I tried a rampage in IV, for some reason, the NPC cars pretty much all despawned, so I had to cross half the island on foot at 3 stars.
In V, I did rampages multiple times as a kid, as I didn't care for achievements and would just dump cheats. As an adult, I only did some 2 times.

I'm not condoning R* taking down the beta elements. I'm saying that there's so much you could talk about what was already stated beyond speculation.
rockstar became ea so fast :"( I hope the hackers release everything tbh

Still on L.A. Noire, I like how the cases will be solved even if you fuck up. In my case, I messed up the Golden Butterfly case, but even if you don't find the right suspect, the game will get it done, though you will be chewed by the Captain.

Nah devkits are actually cool though IMO, you actually get some genuine clues into how the game was built from the ground-up and potentially have a shot at source code, so that's neat. I just don't find beta builds all that alluring or fascinating. Plus it's a piece of unique hardware which I'm a sucker for, those old 90s workstations that were used for graphic design/etc are cool as fuck to me. For instance, the SiliconGraphics Indigo workstations from back in the day, or SGI, are cool as fuck. I believe those machines were used in the creation of most of the very early 3D/CGI animated movies like Toy Story, Bug's Life, and most of the other stuff Pixar put out at that time.

I dunno, I think they're pretty neat, and they were super fucking expensive at that time. I believe some of the most capable models were $36,000 new.

On RDO making less money than GTA V Online, I'm guessing that's because you just can't exactly pump all kinds of crazy microtransaction shit into a game set in the old west like you can with a game set in the modern day. In GTA V you can add a whole bunch of supervillain or near-future shit like rocket bikes, flying cars, hover tanks, laser guns, submarines and jump-jets. Whereas in RDO, what can you really stick in there to entice 12 year olds to buy RDO Gold? A slightly faster horse with a unique coat color? A sleeker looking wagon with a Gatling gun in the back of it? That stuff isn't very exciting, really. I guess if they really wanted to get wild they could stick an early automobile in there [they did exist in a very limited quantity at that time] but the engine wouldn't even slightly be built for that.

Something that really pissed me off about RDR1 is that they actually HAD the Model T [or something like it] in game, the model was there and perfect, you even get to ride in them on several occasions during missions, but they didn't make any of them fucking drivable or available in sandbox/outside of missions. They easily could have done it, and I'm sure now that it's on PC there are mods for that, but it would have been cool as shit to be able to drive them. They even had a "distance/number of miles traveled by automobile" in the stats menu, but it was always going to be the amount of miles from the missions, which are basically just cutscenes of riding to the checkpoint that can be skipped. I'm also pretty sure I remember hearing that all of the driving physics and controls were even included in the source code, but they cut it for some reason.

Ford actually started producing cars as early as 1903 starting with the Model A, and they had actually been beaten to the mass-production punch by Oldsmobile in 1901. The Model N in 1906 is when he really started to pull ahead in terms of value, and the Model T that succeeded it a couple years later in 1908, was... the Model T.

They were still relatively rare at the times the game takes place, although a skilled worker could, with a little saving and borrowing, afford to buy a used one considering a carpenter made anywhere from around $800-$1200 a year in 1910. RDR1 takes place in what, 1911?

I'm replaying RDR1 and also rewatching Boardwalk Empire at the same time.

It's wild what just 9 years and opposite sides of the country were like. The sets in the show are so gorgeous, they really brought 1920 Atlantic City to life, it's just beautiful.

Worth a watch just for the time capsule it feels like alone.

And Nuckys powder blue Rolls Royce is pure kino.

Nicer clothing and cosmetics perhaps. If R* was more proactive, maybe use gold to obtain shacks or apartments.

GTA Online (apparently RDO only makes (made?) like 25 million a year)
Well, I contributed $5 to that $25 million. Yay.
