Since I dunno if the mod is going to be taken down in any way, I decided to archive it in its current state. I found it on libertycity.net, and as a result it had an extra layer of protection with having to type the password "Libertycity" to access the mod files. If and when the mod is finished I’ll archive the rest of it then

Linking my post about EnglishBen situation from the speedrunning thread (has archives of EBen's initial callout videos):

I went to both of their servers to snoop around when it was going down and the Russian dev guy couldn't stop malding and throwing jabs at Ben, who was also present in the dev's server and trying to talk things out. Ben asked multiple times for any kind of evidence of the supposed raid happening, none of which was provided. My initial impression changed as I saw that the dev is just as much of a retard as Ben in this situation.

Honestly I can understand Ben, he knows EXACTLY what type of audience he has around him, and since they're his main paypigs he'd rather not risk upsetting them - none of this would've even happened if not for some fanboy of his wanting to make a public scene by confronting Ben about the dev being le hecking chud (which I believe Ben is himself, but plays it smart to not show it off too much).
All being said, I'd wish he'd tone down the whining, he's ALWAYS FUCKING COMPLAINING about any small thing he doesn't like in a game/mod which really kills the mood when watching him play. Other than that, he's pretty entertaining, even if he loves picking fights with mod developers as a hobby at this point.

Sometimes I watch Joshimuz's videos on YouTube, and he acts the same when he plays other people's mods. He complains about every fucking thing, even after explaining that the mods are unfinished and filled with bugs and abandoned ideas. I especially remember the video where he played Stars & Stripes; the constant complaining and polygon-by-polygon analysis were unbearable. It's no surprise that he and Ben are friends.

Ironically I initially switched to Ben's streams over Joshimuz because I was getting tired of Josh constantly complaining about inane shit (also Ben and his fans not being nearly as gay at first glance), but they really are two sides of the same coin: both haven't seen a barber in years, but for different reasons.

I like English Ben's videos where he's playing bullshit difficulty mods from Vice City. Apparently, somebody took the work from the Hardlined mod and added more BS and loud audio for no reason.

I never got chud vibes from Ben, I've watched quite a bit of his content and can recall at least one out of the blue "orange man is bad" rant and 3-4 mentions of "heckin' transphobia" or whatever the fuck, do agree that he really needs to tone down the fucking whining, however. That was the main thing that made me not want to watch anymore of his content - the constant fucking complaining. Every time he dies in a vidya game it's "bad design" or "shitty game dev", he often neglects obvious, well-known game mechanics in favor of fucking dying all the time and getting mad about it, to his own peril. Seriously, the man is about two steps removed from being English DarkSydePhil sometimes - he sure the fuck gets to sounding like him sometimes. One minute he's singing the praises of a given mod and the next, there's an enemy spawn around a corner or some shit and he goes stomping around the corner rushing and gets his balls blown off and he'll spend the remaining four hours of his livestream complaining about that single incident of cheap enemy placement.

Honestly if you want to see Complaining Ben at his worst? Go watch his streams of his playthrough of The Warriors. Just fucking nonstop wall-to-wall complaining because it's a beat-'em-up and not a GTA clone - which it never claimed or intended to be.

These are now apparently "Unlisted", only reason I could get the links is because I had them in an old playlist, so maybe Ben deleted them realizing that he was apparently in an incredibly shitty mood and didn't give it a fair shake, but he spends much of the streams either complaining incessantly or fighting with people in his chat who have the audacity to say that they liked it [likely when they were playing it at like 12 years old on release lmao] and his chat ballwashers just fuckin' pounce on 'em. Anyone who tries to tell him ways to stop sucking gets banned for "backseating", so on and so forth. These were the streams that got me to be like: "nah I think I'm done listening to this guy, all he does is bitch and complain."

He also has no concept of games being a product of their time - meaning not every fucking thing is going to have the 'quality of life' improvements of modern AAA turds that get shat out every six fucking years now or whatever. Half of his Saints Row playthrough was complaining about a lack of checkpoints - not uncommon in action/sandbox games from fucking 2006, dude. He refuses to even ponder the game's healing mechanic at all and keeps bitching because he gets fucking smoked over and over and has to drive all the way back, welp, them's the breaks, kid, games back then didn't cater to tourists and fucking casuals, skill issue. I think he actually is a Zoomer too, so odds are likely if he's one of the Gen Z guys that never played any of this stuff before, he's used to modern games handholding you all the way through.

Didn’t the 3D era GTAs (aside from a few exceptions) have a similar gameplay loop? I guess maybe Saints Row’s missions are longer but I’d figured he’d be right at home with him being a GTA speedrunner and all.

I heard he’s in his late 30s.

I can't think of a single checkpoint mechanic in any of the GTAs outside of the HD era "hey you suck wanna skip this part of the mission?" shit [which I do not remember being present in GTA IV at all, but GTA V does it] and also, in VC at least I remember that if you failed enough times, a taxi would appear near the hospital with a pink arrow over it so that you could at least skip driving to the character who's giving you the mission, IIRC. I would say Saints Row's [the first one] missions are longer than the average GTA mission but not by a lot, Ben's main issue was the airport mission [the LC finale] which had a loooong fucking drive on the front-end of it and was kinda difficult for newbs I'll admit, but that's just how shit was mostly. He floated 100%ing it and I laughed my ass off because I actually did 100% it and it was hard as fucking balls, Ben would have ragequit if he tried, guaranteed.

I distinctly remember him mentioning being like early 20s in a stream that wasn't very long ago but I could be wrong, he certainly looks a hell of a lot older than he is in that case.

I think San Andreas has a mid mission checkpoint for the final mission. I’m not counting Definitive Edition. I recall one early mission in GTA: San Andreas that trip skips with a Later that day… prompt.
