I just upgraded to a new phone, how're the ports of the early 3D GTAs and Chinatown Wars?

Chinatown Wars is optimized for the mobile phone and tablets. Controls spectacularly with the limitations of mind from handheld gaming.

Vice City runs great on my Pixel. Using arrows for driving is a bit off-putting for a 3D space, but you'll get used to it. Auto aim can be OP. And finicky to where it aims at the nearest person at all times.

LCS has the free aim like the original does. It works fine with touch controls. Drivebys are worst than Vice City. In Vice City, you just press the direction button and it'll count. In LCS, you have to press the direction AND the shoot button. Not good for touch screens.

to be fair, the PC versions of GTA (barring 4 and 5 since i haven't played much of them), the controls and aiming are much better, though it does suck that Claude can't crouch, but it's negligible as VC fixed it, and the driving depends on what vehicles you're using, personally I stockpile banshees, stingers and cheetahs as soon as I can

Just finished PCJ Playground in Vice City. Those last two checkpoints were a hassle to get to.

Couple quirks I've noticed in Vice City:

Tommy is super strong. He can flip an unoccupied vehicle just by running into it.

The Vercetti Gang, Tommy's lackeys that spawn by his assets, can be knocked out by one punch only from Tommy. (I guess they're programmed to engage so this prevents friendly fire.) With that, I can farm Uzi ammo no problem in a couple minutes.

Vercetti Gang also attacks other gang members if they attack you. It's fun to provoke other gangs, lure them to your gang and watch them fight each other. I used the Ice Cream asset as an example. The Cubans and Vercetti Gang can be hostile to each other.

The M60 can kill in one hit.

The Cuban gang is my favorite gang in Vice City. They have funny voice lines and accents.

Another reason why not to play Red Dead Online on PC.

R* security is shit. Modders could have free reign to harass you without consequence.

For console, you can get DDoSed.

So it's RDR1 online all over again? I can't wait to see the pile of NPC corpses in the towns screaming as they give you infinite EXP.

Rockstar doesn't care about PC. At this point I think they just expect people to mod.

Modders are spawning chests around the world. Naive players who open them will get clocked by the automated system and get banned by R*. So in a way, yes.

And yes, I remember RDR1 online. Infinite loading screens, invincible players, horses disappearing. Nothing you could do about it. Once you get into a lobby like that, your game is practically done. R* never bothered to fix it.

Luckily, I never shot one of those zombie NPCs.

They've tried but then the servers got hacked again.

I did it once to see what would happen, you earn so much EXP that the game crashes. There was another glitch near one of the gang hideouts where you could do the mission over and over and not have to wait.
Weirdly enough, the 360 version didn't seem to have the pile of NPC zombies on the ground of MacFarlane Ranch, it was only on PS3.

The wiki said it was a glitch. Although there are hackers on RDR.

I remember hearing the Undead Nightmare DLC corrupted the game's netcode, which created said glitch.

Again, I never noticed nor was affected by it.

I remember a YouTube channel documenting said RDR modded online.

How is it that a company as rich as Rockstar can fail to have a secure multiplayer twice in a row?

Bad enough they give their single player fans the cold shoulder, but I can't believe their "favorite" is treated like this,

Lack of dedicated servers. It's all peer to peer.

They never upgraded the servers for GTA Online from 7 years ago.

It's their favorite cash cow.

Over the long run, isn't that better for the game's longevity though? I think of games like Need For Speed 2015 or The Crew which are always online. Once the servers for those games go down, that's it. There's not even offline single player.

And even for the games that do have offline single player, once the servers go down there is no online multiplayer.

Doesn't peer to peer at least guarantee that you will always theoretically be able to play online?

Can somebody confirm if GTA Online and Red Dead Online is peer to peer?

In the long run for defunct games, yes.

However, servers in these two games are shit to the point where there's no moderation of player behavior.

If a multimillion dollar company can't provide the basic security of protecting one's IP, ISP, coordinates or progress, why bother with it?

A modder at any time for any reason can screw up your progress, and R* is complacent about that.

Yet try to circumvent their microtransactions, YOU get banned. How fair is that?

Big GTA Online News

This weeks double cash/rp updates brought us a text message from the Consierge at the Casino apologizing for the noise saying it's needed for the expansion they are working on. There are also construction crews on one end of the casino which was something that was also done on the lead up to the first casino update...

So basically, it's looking like the next major update and the "brand new heist location" is in fact an expansion of the Diamond Casino and NOT a new island/world space like the spergs on GTAForums thought.

You can imagine how upset those retards are right now.

I can't blame them though. You'd think Rockstar could do *something* actually brand new after a whole fucking year.

My speculation is that since the expansion seems to be close to the horse track (or so I'm told, I haven't gotten online to look) they're re purposing the cut horse heist from single player into Online.

these guys was baited by mods tho

GTAForums now seem to be in full on cope mode, saying the expansion will obviously be a travel agency that will take you to the new location. Because...casinos having travel agencies is a thing I guess?

They couldn't even complete the Mile High Club building downtown?

Can't say I'm surprised. R* added a casino where you can use microtransactions to gamble. Literally. Only reason it's not a big deal is because you're only using one currency and there's a cap.

Six weeks into playing GTA online from scratch and some of it is fun. I managed to buy the oppressor and Hydra this week from going AFK and stacking up the nightclub money. I'm sick and tired of the stupid glitches in the gun running delivery missions. Staggering that they haven't fixed it yet but I doubt they care.
I think in the new year I might go back and start over and take out all the mistakes I've made.
