Thousands of residents have fled Santorini after earthquakes were recorded near the Greek island for a fourth consecutive day.
According to officials, more than 11,000 people have left Santorini, with around 7,000 departing by ferry and 4,000 people leaving by air.

Hundreds of earthquakes have rocked the island, the strongest of which was a magnitude five tremor on Tuesday.

I love how the government beaurocrat interviewed by Al Jizz said they were waiting on the geological report to determine what is going on.

I dunno champ, the whole Island that is actually just one big Volcano has been shaking for 4 days and steam is coming up out of the ground. I'm no geologist, but I think I can make a good assumption.

That sucks. Santorini looks like such a nice place.

also here's those live cams in embeds:

I'm here for the lava livestream. I hope all the biomatter makes it out of dodge first though.
The last eruption in 1950 was a bit of a wet fart. It just blew out the side of the Island and smoked for a bit. If the main caldera goes off though it will be a sight to behold. Santorini Island is just the summit of a subsurface volcanoe. The Island is just the tip of the cone, and the port area in the middle is the caldera itself.

Come on!!!! I got volcano induced global cooling on my bingo card for this year!!!!

Someone is seeing red lol.
Interesting, if she's to be believed the focus is not Santorini itself but the next seamount over, Kolumbo.

Which is interesting because according to wikipedo, they detected Magma inflowing into the magma chamber of Kolumbo in 2022. An eruption there would also be pretty bad. Its "underwater", but that is a relative term since the summit is only 10 meters below the water.

FYI its theorized that the last time santorini really exploded it caused a climate shift big enough to trigger the bronze age collapse which basically wiped up most civilizations at the time as literal armies of refugees zerg rushed cities all over and many starved from crop failure.

I think this is where the "Sea Peoples" of antiquity came from, refugees engaging in piracy & invading lands around the Mediterranean, such as the coastal plain of Canaan (the Peleset/Philistines).

They think a big one like the 1600 BC eruption is every 70,000 years. But what do they know. Nothing Ever Happens enjoyers have been taking some wild Ls these past few weeks

Well if some kind of volcanic shitstorm goes off maybe it can cool Earth down a little and I can enjoy snow again like when I was a kid. I know how to grow/catch my own food so I won't die easy. Maybe less sunlight will kill off some those pesky dark folk.
