If you think King trademarking the word "Saga" is one of a kind, expect more to come:

"As you may noticed, Fenix Rage got an significant delay and it will have a different name on PS4 and Xbox One. This is not because of our team or any technical issues: on January 12 of 2015, a huge game company registered the trademark RAGE in Costa Rica. Then, their Costa Rican lawyers sent us a cease and desist letter, forcing us to change the name for console launch on PS4 and Xbox One. While we could have gone to a legal battle on this, we don’t have the resources or the army of lawyers they have… and it would’ve been a big waste of development time.. But they are letting us keep the name “Fenix Rage” on Steam. So we got that going for us… which is nice."

I wasn't really interested in Fenix Rage before, but this bs makes me want to buy it once it comes out. There isn't any information on the company in question, but whichever one they are, they can go fuck themselves. Trademarking things like concepts shouldn't be allowed and using them to bully small companies that have a hard time already in such a competitive business is horrible and immoral as a business practice. I don't know which company in particular is responsible, but I have a feeling Bethesda may be responsible since they were the developers of another game titled Rage that nobody cares about.

How do you trademark something so generic?
That said, why didn't they just send one to Bethesda since they own Id, the company that made RAGE.

Hell, trademarking words isn't just immoral, it's also completely stupid. I say that because really, who the hell is going to think Fenix Rage is going to to associated with some other game company? Outside of that, this sort of thing happened before. Anyone that knows of Soul Calibur knows the first game went by the name Soul Blade on PSX because some other company called EDGE Games trademarked the word "Edge" (one fact about EDGE Games that I heard of is that its owner is really just some patent troll who got himself into trouble with EA over Mirror's Edge).
