Sometimes when I just want to act poor I just eat straight ground beef with just salt, it's so basic yet tastes pretty good.

Now mix with ramen then you're pretty good.

That's called cottage pie.

I have about ten lbs of ground beef. Anyone got good ideas beyond burgers and meatloaf?
Oh fuck I haven't had cottage pie in so long I forgot it exists, I miss it so much.

Why is it so hard to find these homemade meals at restaurants? I travel too damn much to cook.

I'm only okay with tube-meat if the packaging is clear and I can tell how fresh it is based on the color. Otherwise, I'll just assume it's a color that it shouldn't be until it's cooked. The great thing about clear-wrapped tube-meat is that it can't just get slapped into new packages with a newly-dated label on it at the store every fucking day while they apply that shit to make it look redder. You all know damned well what I'm talking about. You get the beef home, open it up same day and it's fucking brown in the middle with a weird smell. Taking that into consideration, clear-wrapped tube meat or any other transparent factory packaging is actually better for quality control than the stuff in the ordinary supermarket-wrapped packs.

Anyhow, if you don't mind the price increase and extra labor, I cannot recommend enough to buy the leanest ground beef you can in order to add your own source of fat in the form of clarified bacon grease. As long as you don't go overboard, the beef will still be quite lean, but the flavor will drastically improve without overpowering the beef.

I also highly recommend using ground beef in your Japanese style curry in place of diced beef. I promise that the texture will be much more pleasing, not interrupting the other textures and taking far too long to chew, and the beef flavor will be deeper. Please also consider using a low-sodium beef broth or stock in place of water in this dish and try serving it over plain mashed potatoes in stead of rice.

Please remember to gently work your seasonings into your ground meats before cooking them to let the flavors develop.

I find it the better value, but I do like steak more. Just not the major markup more between the two amounts of liking more.
I get more enjoyment from a couple pounds of ground beef than a 10oz steak
I like steak but the variety of ground beef compared to steak makes it unbeatable no steak will beat a nice lasagna or spagbowl

Sloppy joes, chili, burritos, tacos, etc. Pasta meat sauces are good too.

I personally enjoy ground beef fried rice. I cook the beef with onions, garlic, and maybe peppers. I then throw in the rice and veggies, keep tossing until juices have soaked into rice. then I quickly stir in the eggs in that asian egg fried rice style.

Serve with whatever sauce you like. I've tried it with your basic catsup, sriracha, garlic-chili paste, etc. It's hard to really fuck this up and it's a good budget meal to whip up in a batch.

Also, cheeseburger omelette. Ground beef, onions (garlic too if you like), a little pepper, eggs, and your choice of cheese. Serve as a big mess or in a wrap/sammich.

Spaghetti with meat sauce
Spaghetti with meat balls
Hamburger soup
Chili, with or without beans and vegetables
Meatballs with sauce (tomato, teriyaki, barbeque, curry) can serve it in a bread roll or over rice.
Mongolian ground beef
Szechuan ground beef
Dan dan noodles

I have a strong disdain of ground beef in any package with a 5-7 day best before date, they pump it full of inearth gasses to keep it from spoiling and to look pretty... yeah... The limit for the safety of ground beef is still 24 hours in my mind.
I hate tube products, they're sad, but started buying some of the local tube meat when it was first introduced a year or two ago because they put up a note explaining why its not gross and it is only the packaging that differs, it's the same product. It made a lot of sense.

Good for burgers.

iirc a lot of joints just get a giant fucking tube and split it off into packs at the store, or it comes from the plant in the pack with all the extra air compared to a tube and in fact the tube is less corrupted by air

I love ground beef and have it maybe a little more than I should. I'm definitely the type who prefers a good burger over a good steak any day. Generally I like to make either burgers or tacos. The former meal being very basic, the patty just seasoned with salt and pepper; the latter also being very basic (a packet of Old El Paso seasoning, tomato, lettuce, shredded cheese and sour cream.) For tacos and spaghetti sauce I prefer to use lean or extra lean beef, and coincidentally that's pretty much the only stuff that the places in my area usually have. Not sure why but it seems like only in the past half decade that it's been more of a pain in the ass to find anything other than lean/extra lean.

A few months ago when I felt like making burgers I ended up getting some of the ground beef in the tube since it was the only way that I could get medium/regular ground beef where I was and the burgers turned out pretty well.

Honestly my favorite way to eat ground beef is Kibeh Nayeh.
Since it is basically seasoned raw meat don't be a retard and only procure good quality ground beef for this dish so don't use tube meat maybe.

Otherwise chilli or stir fry (think lettuce wraps but I eat it with rice unless I am pretending to be doing keto) is pretty good.

They all have their uses. Ground beef on its own isn't that good and it can't be mixed with as many carb options. Mixed with rice or beans always works. Steak can be eaten with any vegetable. Ground beef and eggs is gross, steak and eggs is yum. I got a couple of bottom round beefs that I'm going to toss into the crockpot with some carrots and spinach. I don't know if many nutrients will survive so I'm going to put in a lot of spinach. This may end badly.
the only positive contribution to society the irish have ever given is shepherds pie

Bolognese sauce? Recipes often call for half and half, ground beef and pork. But I liked the ground beef only Bolognese I made too.
Freezes well too, just thaw and make pasta, e z
I make Bolognese too much. Trying to stop doing pastas.

Hamburger Gravy is an old favorite from when I was a kid, with mashed or roasted potatoes. Salisbury steak is in that Wheelhouse too.

It's not the preferred cut but using it for a hot meat over a salad is serviceable, you can season to your taste (taco, italian, oriental), and build your salad profile and crunchy bits from there.

Or you can get really cursed and make Hamburger Hotdogs with a bit of seasoning, corn starch, and the potential wrath of God.

Edited for spelling

On the topic of potatoes:
Japanese Croquettes with the potato and ground meat filling could be worth a try.

Or just fry little dabs of salted and peppered ground meat and put it into a rich vegetable soup/stew (something with carotts and potatoes preferably).
