I will get myself one for a Christmas treat, if one comes up in time for that. Only the 256gb one though, because I don't take the standalone potential very seriously, and it has an SD slot anyway.

If it's not actually that much better than my Quest I will probably sell it. VR is nice but I've played the shit out of every good VR game I could get my paws on, and a lot of bad ones too. The bad ones are sadly more numerous nowadays.

Half Life 3 fucking never, it's so over.

He was the project leader on episode one and did most of the work on Alyx's ai. Episode 2 was lead by David Speyrer but robin is still concidered as the director. Valves always just does the list of names with out roles for credits so it's tricky but he was clearly a key dev on the episodes.
Robin's always been known as the tf2 guy but he's had his hand in almost everything valves done outside of half life one. Hell he was the one who spotted Narbacular Drop and got portal rolling.
Robin walker was actually the one to spear head the idea of doing episodic content for half life.
That right everything is robins fault.

People also don't give him enough credit for being the guy who took it upon himself to convince everyone at Valve to sit down and actually do a company wide project again with Half-Life: Alyx if I'm not mistaken. He was project lead on it so I wouldn't surprised if he is the same with HLX.

Sorry goyim it will be released when HLX does because it has content in it from Episode 3 and beyond.

That, or it went the way of the Portal 2 art book and we'll never hear about it again.
 
Tyler McVicker is in a really amusing pickle because Claude did an in-depth datamine - including the cracking of hashes - of the latest Deadlock update within 45 minutes, while it took him 35 hours.

The third video has the latest HLX datamines attached at the 1:40 timestamp.

On October 2nd, Tyler went live on Twitch in an unhappy mood, while titling the stream as "A Whole bunch of Bad News Oh Man -Would love your thoughts."

His datamining efforts for videos seem to have been causing issues for him...

So its been a month and my opinion of HL Alyx hasn't really changed, but I did have fun with it in VR this time as well as a lot of other games.

I went back to watch Southern Ninja's video on the game and yeah, He is a chudtuber sperg that can be over dramatic, but 90-95% of his criticisms are still valid and align with how I feel. I played the novr mod in mid 2025 and replayed it on sep 9th so the old play through is still fresh in my mind for comparison.

The one thing he was wrong about was saying "VR has no games." Theres a huge fucking vibe coding scene thanks to AI creating so many fucking VR mods for old games, it's amazing.

HL2 Unleashed was pretty fun and Pavlov Shack alone makes it worth it. I'm glad I just bought my own Meta Quest 3s headset, I dont regret it at all.
