I cannot grasp why people try to "fix" HDTF. Berkan shat out a giant turd that unjustly elevated him to position in Blizzard and in response people try to polish this turd.
"Why" is an interesting question when it comes down to us humans. For this specific situation, I can imagine its a mixture of factors
1- Sunk cost fallacy, so much time, effort and money was invested in this so they feel its how they will make it all feel less like it was all for nothing.
2- Challenge, like it or not, there are some people that claim that they could have done it "right" and "fix it", so they do just that so they can get credit for making HDTF reach its "true" potential.
3- Its easier to fix a pre existing game than to make one from scratch. HDTF has a lot of production values (for the standards of HL mods) and thus a lot of people prefer to invest in that rather than to start from zero.
4- Fame (?), its possible that a factor is also the attention and merit it would bring to be the ones to fix this game as best as it can be under the circunstances
I dont think that bar a major re-write (which would force the cutscenes to be removed/edit/altered), that you can "fix" HDTF where it matters. Because to quote Spoony (before he became what he is today)
"Those were technical issues and technical issues can be fixed but the problem with this was the story!"
If the story is wack, especially in a plot driven experience like HDTF, you are kind of already up shit creek without a paddle.
Overanalyzing this stuff is a guilty pleasure of mine, I love this shit.
this thread is MADE for autistic loresperging and by god we should do that as much as we damn well please!
Lets go for it, it will still be the least autistic thing in this site.
