My personal opinion about HL3 is that it's in development but 99.99999% it will not finish development and even if it does it will only be avaliable to Valve employees. So those who say it will never be released are half right and half wrong because it's gonna release, just not for you cuz you ain't a Valve employee
I’ve submitted a couple bug reports in deadlock one of which got fixed next patch. That basically makes me an employee right?

On a somewhat related note I don't care much for how people like to prop up Freeman on the same level as Doomguy or Duke in terms of prowess. Breen said it best: "This is not some agent provocateur or highly trained assassin we are discussing. Gordon Freeman is a theoretical physicist who had hardly earned the distinction of his Ph.D. at the time of the Black Mesa Incident. I have good reason to believe that in the intervening years, he was in a state that precluded further development of covert skills. The man you have consistently failed to slow, let alone capture, is by all standards simply that—an ordinary man."

Its like people forget he has an interdimensional demi-god working to tip the scales in his favor, he'd be super dead in HL1&2 if not for the G-Man. That's not to say it isn't all on the G-Man, since EP1 and EP2 (to a lesser extent) proves that Gordon IS capable but EP1&2 are way smaller scale than HL2 or 1, he still has someone watching over him, and Gordon has almost a week of non-stop combat under his belt (possibly more)

Sadly this falls into headcanons because Gordon shouldnt be able to survive all he faced in HL 1 and 2 even with the suit tanking most of the damage (I'd say that that the HEV suit wasnt suited for combat but "questionable ethics" onwards reveals B.M has been to Xen and sent other suit users there so it is def. made to at least handle some level of combat). We know he has basic firearms handling skills because of the Hazard Course but thats really it.

Deep down we know that the reason is because Valve didnt really intend on this being a hyper realistic aspect of the story, at least the "badass marine type" shooter main character look the part of being able to put up a fight. Either that or they want to imply Gordon has something special about him, making him possibly an actual chosen one of sorts after all somehow (besides, the G-man hasnt done anything to help Gordon directly, only Adrian Shepard. If you didnt pay attention to the G-man, he just suddenly appears at the end of the game out of nowhere).
my uncle also works at nintendo and will get you banned from xbox live :P
so no

Mine works for the CIA and will get your entire neighborhood addicted to crack.

I wonder what gave the impression.

While technically not an employee of him, G-man is Gordon's Administrative Sponsor before/during HL1, so I hardly believe he isn't pulling the strings in both his/Gordon's favor behind the scenes. Clearly there HAS to be something more to Gordon than meets the eye, otherwise the G-man would have no reason to sponsor him on anything.

BUT I do think that it's overstated how powerful Gordon really is. He isn't really a pawn, more like a knight. He has elevated value to the G-Man, but he isn't the most important employee given how he was replaced by Alyx, regardless of how difficult it was for him to do.

If G man is able to travel through time in some way he could be sponsoring Gordon because he can see what Gordon does when sponsored.

G man also considers Adrian Shepard (if you think it’s cannon, which I do) so he probably has a hand in Gordon’s journey throughout the game

This isn't really Half Life news but the Steam Frame/Deckard might be officially announced tomorrow, but a bunch of VR YouTubers are supposedly going to Seattle this week and one of them mentioned doing an upload on Wednesday, also Meta Connect is going to be happening tomorrow and Valve has had a history of surprise announcing their products alongside their competitors (Index was announced during Facebook F8, Steam Deck was announced during the start of Switch OLED preorders)
Something will happen tomorrow.

Nothing.

All the replies are baffled, and has no idea what this means. I will mention though, that when Half-Life Alyx was soon-to-be-announced, if memory serves he actually unironically did know in advance, and IIRC planned an entire Half-Life stream marathon to coincide.

Unrelated doomium I found out about recently from the hiatus era of HL, the guy who did the Sacrifice Comic for L4D and the early TF2 comics (Michael Oeming) wanted to do a HL comic but it "wasn't meant to be"

I always felt it was odd that every other main IP got a comic but HL got shafted, and now I'm sad it could've existed and been made by the best comic artist at Valve. FML

P.S. He also wrote and drew a full issue of a Midnight Riders comic that just never got released? Also possibly a L4D2 comic if some art of Rochelle he made is anything to go by.

>RANDU is one of the most infamous random number generation algorithms
>fails a certain statistical test in 3 dimensions or above

hl3 confirmed because obviously valve went back and left clever clues in 1960s rng algorithms

obviously hlx is coming out soon and it will be hl3
duh

"i'm shitposting y'all"

Anyone listening to VNN should just follow GabeFollower instead, he's not obnoxious and has his finger just as much on the pulse as VNN. Especially with CS.

I suspect VNN has a fear of not being the first to "report" on something and so blows his load before there is actual strong evidence. GabeFollower is much more discriminatory about anything he publishes, even if it means others have talked about it first.

A very odd way to shitpost. The retarded part of me wants to wonder if this is now some kind of cover/obfuscation, because how the fuck are random numbers a shitpost unless he gets a kick out of stirring up the nest, which he's very strongly claimed to not want to do on several occasions? Whatever I guess.

I enjoy listening to both, even with McVicker absolutely being a sped.
