HL: Alyx was a waste of time, like all VR games. It was a gimmick and I'm sick of people pretending otherwise.

No I wouldn't. It's a strange coincidence that the most famous VR game is the one where you play as a woman who actively interacts with the world, and the world acknowledges you as a woman. If troons have enough liquid assets to pay for HRT and "feminine" clothes, obviously they also have enough money and autism to buy a VR headset and any other hardware Valve puts out... Trannies are also more likely to own a VR because VR porn is a thing. Finally, Alyx was released in 2020, the year when self-isolation, Joe Biden winning and breadtubers mindbroke many men into trooning out. Me thinks Valve Software did a pro gamer move and capitalized on the tranny virus, and we're all too blind to see it.

...or, Valve wanted to create a new Half-Life, but if they used Gordon as the protagonist, people would A.) be more upset at being gatekept, and B.) rightfully riot if he ever spoke in conversation (which they were deadset on having characters do). Bringing back Adrian would have these same problems too. I guess they could've used Barney, but you spend less time with him as the companion than you do with Alyx through HL2 and its' episodes; I.E. she's more developed.

I think there’s a much simpler reason they didn’t use Gordon: they wanted to make it 100% crystal clear that it was just a spinoff, and not HL3 (or some repurposed version of it).
 
half life has been around for so long that they initially made alyx to be the archetypal sexy badass video game woman in same same vein as lara croft but valve were smart enough to temper it with a little bit of brown tomboy so it didn't come off as blatant pandering.

kind of funny that 20 years later there's a trend of video game companies making archetypal sexy badass video game woman but turning them into brown tomboys and ruining them, so people keep trying to drag valve into it

I just saw this schizo video essay a few days ago and it is actually pretty decent, very crowbcat-esque with the "show don't tell" style of storytelling. I am not a HL obsessionist, but I have not heard of this theory before and on the surface it does seem quite plausible. I do however think the guy is reading a bit too much into the Portal test chamber designs originally being more gritty and different Valve games sharing HL2 assets, as it makes sense to re-use non critical assets, especially when doing concept work.

We even have an appearance from McNigger. I wonder if he will incorporate this into his schizobabble MIRO board.

Zero percent (0.00%) chance that a natal woman, let alone a Br**ish woman would be involved in something as autistic as HL modding and I always find it hilarious when troons out themselves due to their interests. The second I heard his voice I just knew it lol. I cannot begin to fathom having to work with these kinds of people on an Open Source or hobby project for weeks, months or even years on end.
 
Hi guys, just wanted some feedback on a map I made a while back, im trying to get back into mapping as my hobby because my harddrive got wiped last year when I had put like 6+ months into it so I went into my backlog from an older harddrive to redo at least one of the maps from my past, some requirements to run the map are a copy of garrys mod and an optional instance bsp to load the 3d skybox if you are aware of how to do so, it has elements of being a TTT map so you can either test its merit as a set piece or a map that is to be played somewhat aggressively or like more like an arena of sorts. its downloadable below as a vmf or bsp. I also completely understand if you do not trust downloading a zipfile thats from a semi anonymous website so ill leave that up to you if you want to check it out lmao.

I feel like a lot of these are just "why does late 90's geometry not make any sense?" There's a video I can't remember (probably in my watch later) with a Modder talking about Freeman Pontifex in EP2 and shows that the area is designed to be fun, not really to make sense. I always just assumed that Black Mesa's take on the facility itself is more akin to what it was meant to be, even if some areas still don't really make sense.

Valve is also probably kissing the air for deciding to bundle it with the Steam Machine release too (assuming that's still happening), given the prices are going to be absolutely gutted they're going to need something shiny to have as a consolation prize. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the HLX announcement overshadows the steam machine
