Halo's Imploding Story

I swear to God Halo's timeline is gonna implode on itself soon. It already had continuity problems before 343 took over the franchise, but now 343 seems intend of making Halo's story more like the now-defunct Star Wars Expanded Universe. Taking loose plot threads from the original source material and turning them into overblown, lengthy story lines. Too many books with fanfiction level writing. I'm suppose to believe the humans once had a empire that rivaled the Forerunners in terms of scope and technology then lost a war and got "devolved" to the Stone Age by the Forerunners and there was never no evidence of this? Are you kidding me?

What do I expect though? When you bring in people like Karen Traviss to start writing your books, you're gonna have problems.

And this is not even talking about the current state of the actual games themselves. The Master Chief Collection is dying of low population servers thanks to its terrible launch. 343 seems to have made it clear that they're moving on to Halo 5 and catering to a new generation of fans, leaving the older fans behind.

I thought Halo Combat Evolved implied the Humans were the Forerunners...

Anyway this is to be expected from a series where the story got less interesting overtime. Something I liked about CE was you never directly saw things like the leadership of the Covenant or the state of Earth. Because it took place far away from all of that it more or less implied a lot more than it directly said. Like how you have to infer based on how the Covenant are clearly different species of Aliens that they absorb other races into their organization by force. Stuff like that.
