Hamilton - Is it bad I liked it?

I think its ok, not great.

Since its about non whites playing the white Founding Fathers, I have an idea.

ROOTS: The Musical. All the slaves will be played by whites and all the slave owners will be played by blacks.

Yes stop liking things.
Actually, I was surprised by how much I liked it. The first act is especially strong. The culture around the show got pretty insufferable though, especially when Lin got enmeshed in Clinton's presidential campaign. Being a major cast member in a show about American history does not qualify you as a great political voice. Dance, monkey, dance.
Lin-Manuel going full polititard did give us a hilarious callback moment when he was on SNL:

Timestamp is 2:55. I enjoy the soundtrack to bits, but that clip has the perfect blend of "Upper Class liberal bubble" smugness that's great to revisit years later. With the film version out, hopefully SNL and Lin-Manuel don't make the same mistake twice.
Or even better, maybe they do.

not that into musicals but found the soundtrack to be pretty boring. based off of the people who were sperging over it when it came out i'm almost certain that it's stupid. pretty funny to see it getting cancelled now that the elite are board with it

I watched it on Disney+ last night. As someone who generally doesn't like musicals, I enjoyed it. It definitely wasn't worth obsessing over like some people did a few years back, but it was overall solid. My only real issues with it were some historical inaccuracies (most of which were presumably intentional for storytelling purposes). American political history is my thing, so your average viewer isn't going to notice any of that stuff. I liked "Satisfied" and "You'll Be Back" a lot, but there definitely weren't any duds.

(Semi-related, if anyone has developed a weird taste for American history-themed musicals, Assassins! is pretty good, and there are a few full performances of it up on YouTube. There's a duet between John Hinkley Jr. and Squeaky Fromme, and it's legitimately great.)

This douche was the Green Party's VP nominee in 2016, so everything's problematic to him.

I liked it, but I must admit, my favourite song was "You'll Be Back", which is the whitest song in the whole show:

That is the only song I can find enjoyment in so far. It just has a good sense of energy.

Honestly never got Hamilton. I am not much of a musical fan, but have enjoyed music from said shows. When comparing, I find myself enjoying songs in productions like Beetle Juice, Heathers, and even Shrek more, but maybe that is just me.

I thought jokes were supposed to be funny...

Watched the Disney+ version yesterday. Wanted to see what the hype was about. Never watched an entire stage musical before and this didn't make me want to see any other ones. The music wasn't terrible or anything, but I almost fell asleep a couple times throughout the show. The race swapping of historical figures is kinda weird, but given the tone of the entire thing it didn't really bother me. An actual biopic with race swapping would annoy me. None of the songs are very memorable, it's the next day I can't materialize in my head how any of the songs went.

Minor nitpick, I don't know if this is normal for musicals but the microphones in the hair were really distracting. Everyone's hair would be nice and uniform, but this little black bump would be sticking out. It made it much more noticeable then the more exposed mics that hang off the ear.

I don't like Hamilton solely because Team Four Star wouldn't stop sperging about it and using its songs in their videos, and those guys are a bunch of faggots. The race swapping sounds like it was done in an attempt to annoy white people, but so few white people care about that sort of thing these days that, if it was meant as a fuck you to white history, it completely fell flat. Even VP Pence said he enjoyed the play, so how lame do you gotta be to think that Hamilton is a righteous swipe at the Whiteocracy?

It is because most Broadway musicals are mic'ed nowadays. You won't notice it too much if you're there in person.
I'm talking specifically about the microphones in the hair in an attempt to "hide" them. The one Aaron Burr had on his ear with the flesh color is what I am used too, most other people with hair had a mic in their hair but it looked very out of place among the uniform hairs.

I originally liked it a bit but that changed when people became obsessed with it. The songs are good for those who liked it I guess. Broadway musicals aren’t really my thing so don’t take it from me. I would like to see more musicals about history in the future because it makes things more interesting to learn about.

Ok, nevermind. "Desmond Pfeiffer the Musical" was a bad idea because someone here got assmad over it.

Better idea, "Michelle Pfeiffer the Musical" only every main character is played by an African American, including the titular one. Shame Eartha Kitt is dead... She would have been perfect.
