Has anyone ever slept rough?

I fell asleep in a dumpster once. it was filled with a bunch of soft phone books.

My childhood included a lot of power outages. Some lasting months. Fun times, especially having no air conditioning in 110 degree weather (shame it always happened in the summer for some odd reason...).

I've had a hard time sleeping on busses, planes, cars, pretty much any moving vehicle one can name where I'm sitting in a seat where I'm not lying flat. There is no position that really feels right while sitting and it's annoying. It isn't until all the fussing that I'll finally be able so somehow position that pillow against the wall and/or window in some way that is decent enough for me to fall asleep if I'm really, really tired, otherwise, it doesn't work or if I don't have a windo seat, well, I'm screwed.

I used to fly internationally quite a bit before I got married and settled down. I learned very quickly that dramamine is a very good travel companion.

Isn't that the stuff for motion sickness? It's not really the motion, it's moreso the sitting position and the seats don't recline enough.

I don't particularly want to make a new thread about all this because I don't really want to bring attention to my currently crap circumstances, but can anybody on here give me some advice? I'm all new to this "responsible adult" thing, I didn't realise living cost so much .

I moved in with my mate Tim a few months ago, he's a sperg on DLA (the UK tugboat). It's always been a thing amongst our friends that "lol Tim beat the system and gets to sit on his ass and play vidya instead of work, he's set for life! He's not actually retarded!" but like wow, the longer I spend time with him the more I realise that isn't true. The poor bastard can't actually look after himself, no idea it was so severe. Or that Aspergers' was a legit thing, tbh. I used to be in the camp of "Aspergers is just codeword for lazy asshole, not a legit mental disorder" but I stand corrected.

Anyway, I'm classified as a carer and used to get carers allowance to look after the retard  .

Everything was okay, money was good.

Then last month we moved into a new flat. This move is why I've not been sperging it up to the extreme with you guys btw, we only had internet installed yesterday (THREE WEEKS WITHOUT RELIABLE INTERNET. THREE WEEKS. I had to go leach internet from McDonald's like a fucking Neanderthal.). Anyway, I rang the council-people to tell them of the change of address, which is apparently enough of a "change to circumstances" to cancel all benefits both of us claimed "pending reassessment." Meaning that now we have literally no money until they've reassessed everything, which can take like 4-6 weeks at least. So we've had no money since we moved.

We managed to scrounge like £20 off of various people for food and stuff, but like now we're out of people to scrounge off and we've heard nothing about the council doing anything, so no idea when that's gonna be sorted, or even if it'll be accepted (the bureaucracy, good god the bureaucracy!).

We tried to get a budgeting loan so we could buy food and pay rent (which is due next week), but you have to have an active benefits claim to get that. (a budgeting loan is a government loan for people in emergencies. but because the systems fucked we can't claim one, because we're "suspended"). I tried to get an overdraft on my bank account to pay for this, but was rejected.

So yeah we're a little fucked.

I've been looking into foodbanks and stuff (which are like charities for people who can't afford food), but they say you need to get a food voucher from someone before they'll give you food. They list people like doctors and the police as places to get it from; the nearest police station is miles way away and I would really prefer if I didn't have to go to my GP about being poor, as appointments are always like at least 3 days later than the day you ring them. Anybody aware of who I can go to who will provide vouchers like that no hassle?

Also I'm kinda out of ideas of how we're gonna pay rent, any advice there would be appreciated.

And if there's any way to speed up this "reassessment" process anybody knows, I'd love to know because it seems a little bit ridiculous.

The government suspended our benefits meaning we can't buy food or pay rent. Can't get a budgeting loan as we're not currently on benefits. I don't fully understand how foodbanks work. Who would I go to to get food and is there any way I can pony up £400 by next week?
