If by "Ancient Roman writings", you mean Latin texts, there's been a good amount of success building LLMs that can respond in Latin. The entire Latin corpus is pretty massive, especially when you factor in so-called 'Neo-Latin' written in the Renaissance that was used for, at the time, more cosmopolitan/international works. These generally tried to adhere to Classical Latin standards of writing, so they work well to help compliment the works of Classical Roman antiquity.
I actually asked chat GPT to write me a poem in Sindarin, using a Homeric style Dactylic Hexameter last month.
It was aight, actually, though it prefaced it by stating that it couldn't make the meter perfect.
I didn't save it however; poof.
Here; I'll ask it the same prompt;

Maybe I could ask it to emulate some other writer's style.
I think you can basically do that with the current models, if you got the right prompts.
