this is accurate. in terms of groups like this, houthis are a weird one to choose to support. they are almost entirely responsible for the horrific famines in yemen the last few years. hasan would try to blame the saudi coalition, but that is just a lie.

if you look at groups like hamas, hezbollah, etc, they make a bit more sense (until recently) because they were actually popular with their people. the houthis are obviously and abhorrently evil. keeping slaves, using child soldiers, stealing food aid, all the greatest hits of these groups.

that said, even hamas and hezbollah really aren't popular anymore. hamas' popularity rose hugely after october 7 but since then the palestinians have seen that all it got them was misery. it's something like 6% approval rating. hezbollah is a similar situation, only shias ever liked them and even there the popularity is slipping. lebanon has made it clear that after hezb starts a war with israel, their popularity goes down massively. arabs in the region hate jews/israel but for most, they actually do care more about saving their own lives once the bombs start falling.

I haven't met a single person, online or in-person, who lived under communism and doesn't hate communism with a passion. Even the children of these people who were not born under communism hate communism. The only people who support communism are those who are extremely removed from communism.
